I heard that apparently, Rhea used 4 golems that possessed the same crests/powers that each of the Ashen wolves' possess (according to datamining). Imagine if they were hunted in order to use their crests to power those machines, or they're literally inside the machines. Creepy to think about.

I mean, literally every community has its fair share of toxicity. Some moreso than others. But I do agree the Smash community gets pretty salty if not everybody gets exactly what they want. But it's true that you can't please everyone. Personally, I welcome Byleth's inclusion in Smash, and I'm glad he's not "just another swordsman" from what we've seen from the showcase.

well nobody said it was perfect. it's just incredibly bizarre to end a fighter's pass of characters being all third party and unique that were either incredibly hype or obviously there to please people.

smash is supposed to be a celebration of gaming and gaming history which in the context of the FP makes sense. even terry is welcome by that standard.

Two things:
1) I'm very interested about how the dialogue border switches to Purple now. I hope it's a potential permanent change, or perhaps you can now start with them, and recruit others, but idk. Only 4 students seems like it'd be a very hard path.
2) Everyone needs to stop yelling about Byleth in Smash. Yes, they said fighters from new series and we got that so far. Eventually they have to go back and add more characters of existing franchises, which is honestly my favorite part. Not to mention it must be a massive pain working out all of the legal work for those 3rd party characters, that are surely scrutinized in their moveset, by their OG developer.
I do wonder if it’s a permanent change. It seems like that and/or they can be recruited because they have supports with the house leaders (according to data mining) so who knows?
From the Japanese description, the Ashen Wolves class is unique to the DLC timeline as in.... it doesn't happen during the main story story-wise. We might be able to use them in the main-line somehow in the likes of transferred students or something. But story-wise, the DLC story doesn't happen in reality.

Ok, after a day of thinking about it, I have decided that Yuri is Lyon, Leon, and Lorenz fused into the ultimate L-being, but then couldn't think of a name
I'll admit. I got a bit fussy when Byleth was announced for Smash, but I had never played a Fire Emblem game before. I decided to suck it up, sit down and play 3 houses. And you know what? I changed my mind, I love this game and my love for it grew deeper with the happenstance of this story DLC being added while I'm playing!
It is so nice to hear you took the time to come to a conclusion on something not by outright dismissing it but experiencing it yourself first.
This is the most constructive way to handle conflicting stances regarding any matter, really. ^^

If this isn't tied to the Agarthans I will be highly disappointed.
It sounds to me like the church is aware of them, even protecting them (since there is a line about them helping the monastery thrive).
Now that I think about it, Abyss was mentioned quite a few times in the main game.

@@BlazingAvatar I think that's right, the Abyss people get mentioned as foreshadowing (by Anna I think) if you get the DLC. There are mentions in the original game about there being expansive passages and such beneath the monastery that regular people are not allowed into, but nothing about people living there as far as I know. Still, the existence of those passages in the original game does lead to the question of why they were built, who maintains them, etc. So one can say even the original game sort of foreshadowed them.

I actually can't get over how much content this game has. I'm 90 hours into my first playthrough and first house, I've not even touched any dlc yet!
Ha, I'm 280 hours in on my 3rd route still with plenty things to do. At the rate I'm going I won't even complete the 4th route before this sweet new DLC gets released. I expected to get a minimum of 500 hours of enjoyable gameplay out of this game and so far I'm right on my predicted schedule as I still have Lunatic and Madness difficulties to experience as well as at least 2 more playthroughs of the game. Money SO well spent.

@@johnathandavis8430 Unless you were cheese grinding everyone's weapon ranks and mastering every class on every character on normal difficulty, I have no idea how you'd manage 500 hours in a single playthrough. Would still be impressive though since that would take a lot of patience and dedication.

1:19 Hey look check it out. Edelgard and Dimitri are standing beside each other. Not to mention playable Hilda beside Edelgard. High possibility we have access to entire roster here, house separation be damned.

I'm more expecting it to be just the initial cutscene that involves all house leaders --maybe a joint investigation to introduce the new story content. And did I miss a part where Hilda and Edelgard are both on the map together, or are we inferring that from just them both being present for the cutscene? If that's so, then it's not proof yet if my first guess is correct; and if we're going off of the showcases of the new characters attacking ours, that's not proof either since they cut between them so quickly --those could just be separate Blue Lions, Black Eagles, and then Golden Deer playthroughs edited back-to-back.
That said, while I'm not getting my hopes up too high yet, I am hopeful for some new interactions/arrangements between Houses.
@Weston Meyer They're using their part 1 appearances in all scenes where any two House leaders are shown standing next to each other in this trailer; heck, even though Edelgard is using a part 2 exclusive class during the fight, she's still using her part 1 hairstyle. Just off the top of my head, I can think of a few times during Part 1 after you choose a House where they do stand together to chat with Byleth, such as when they discuss the upcoming Battle of the Eagle and Lion. They snipe at each other, but they tend to come across as friendly rivals for the majority of the plot before the end of Part 1 and the timeskip. Post-timeskip, I agree, there wouldn't be any chance for a believable temporary team-up under Garreg Mach, but I also haven't seen any post-timeskip House leaders in the same frame in this trailer, unless I missed it somewhere.
Basically, it looks to me like this is content that can only be initiated in Part 1 when the House leaders are still be on amicable terms, or at least we've only been shown the version that happens if you initiate during Part 1. I could be wrong; Edelgard being in a Part 2 class is suspect (not sure, is that something you can access prematurely in New Game+ ?) I did finally spot the scene where Hilda and Edelgard both have blue playable circles (1:32), and that *might* be Claude on the wyvern and Dimitri on the horse at the far right, but I can't tell for sure with them in the greyed out 'wait' status.
I'm not trying to nay-say or argue against the possibilities, I'm just trying not to let my expectations rise too high before we get more details; and all that said, I do hope to be pleasantly surprised.
*Edit: Just noticed you said White Clouds, which I misremembered as the name of the Monastery route in Part 2 (actually Silver Snow) for some reason. So the bulk of my first point could probably just be replaced with 'I got more "friendly or at least polite rivals" vibe than outright hostility between Dimitri and Edelgard in part 1'.
@Weston Meyer Let's just set aside the can of worms that is the debate about how much of Edelgard's actions are 'because I had to' vs 'because I don't like them'. If we go down that rabbit hole, we have to start speculating about what would have to change to create this possibly permanent team-up we're talking about, and we don't have nearly enough information to do that.
Instead, I'd like to point out that we don't know how long 'this event' is. It could be as simple as 'all three House leaders investigate one afternoon (they could even be ordered to cooperate on the task, taking their feelings about each other out of the equation), make contact (perhaps after a scuffle following a misunderstanding with the Abyss natives), and then Byleth's chosen House is assigned/volunteers to maintain relations with them, recruiting the four new characters to their House and sprinkling more Abyss content throughout the rest of the route. If all the footage featuring Edelgard, Claude and Dimitri together comes from just the first day of contact with the Abyssians, then we have no definitive proof of lasting cooperation between the three of them.
I'm not opposed to it, I say again, and I'd love to be surprised. I think it would be very interesting if, for example, the folks in Abyss provide more insight into Those Who Slither, and completing this content affects Edelgard's motives and actions in Part 2. Heck, if this does lead to a new route featuring cooperation between the Houses I'll be thrilled; I just haven't seen enough yet to convince me that's what we're looking at. It feels like a lot to expect out of one wave of a 5-wave DLC pass, but then again 4 characters and new missions and plot is already more than the first three offered. Who knows?

To say you like Byleth, think he/she looks fun or are excited for it to release isn't toxic. Insulting those who like it or the people (not the company) who made the DLC, as well as disliking anything Three Houses related knowingly because of Smash, is toxic. Insulting those who don't like the DLC or calling out people for disliking Byleth's inclusion in Smash is toxic.

i was also disappointed for a few seconds when another fire emblem character joined smash. then i heard the music.. saw the characters, the stage and the heroes relics... remembered that three houses is one of my favorite switch games i played for over 300 hours... yeah i am really happy about byleth in smash and can't wait to go through the story again with this dlc. we'll get 6 more characters anyway. just play three houses and you'll see why this was a great choice.
I would of been less disappointed if I didn't dislike three houses so much. I'm only on my first playthrough and I'm trying to get through the crap that is the crimson flower chapter.

There’s a significant difference, and I’m not even letting my bias get in the way of my argument here.
Smash fans have been toxic for AGES. They actively hate anything that isn’t catering specifically to their needs. They go out of their way to make everyone else’s lives miserable because Waluigi hasn’t made it in yet. It’s pathetic.
They just demand, demand, demand. It’s like a congregation of the greediest, most despicable human beings out there who can only think of themselves. Sakurai makes a huge game and already delivered 4 very well received DLC fighters, and now just because Byleth makes it in they do a complete 180 and hate on everything and everyone. Smashtards really are the epitome of humanity’s vices.
As for FE fans retaliating, it’s just that, retaliation. Sure, maybe it would be best to take the moral high ground and not stoop to the smashtards’ level, but we’re all human. Most people don’t just take a bunch of toxic comments without saying anything in return.
