We rode this trail from Hinckley to Jay Cooke and back in 2013. Last year we rode it from Hinckley to Moose Lake and back. The trail is really in need of repair in that section. There are huge cracks like every five feet. Looks like you had some of that for a ways coming out of Moose Lake. We need to go back up and ride down into Duluth like you two did.
A couple of years ago we rode from moose lake to willow river which I remember being in pretty good shape. The section between Jay Cooke and Duluth is the best part of the trail. Thanks for watching and hope you can ride that final section.
We took them into our room. For the most part we have found hotels are willing to let us take the bikes into the room. We usually don't ask and just take them in. For the hotels that don't let us they usually have a place to put the bikes. We usually get a bigger room. Thanks for watching!
The Alex Laveau really only goes 5-10 miles to highway 23. Great hill on 23 that dips into duluth, you go straight down for 400 feet. Make to sure to ride 23 off hours or weekends, lots of truck traffic sometimes
Loved this Video ... My Wife and I recently bought bikes as we like to camp ect... We walked 2-3 miles a day the last 2 years and recently we had to stop due to the horse flys were we live. So we looked into bikes and wow, are we hooked! We plan on doing day rides until we build up endurance. Enjoyed your video very much. What was the area you thought would be a good day ride? Was before Duluth and was very scenic ? Was it by Carlton?
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video. The trail between Carlton and Duluth is very scenic. For a day ride it might be best to start at the trailhead for the William Munger Trail on the west side of Duluth and ride towards Carlton. It is a gradual uphill that direction and would mean a nice downhill ride back to the car.
GREAT video. I’ll add it to my list!
Thanks, definitely add it to your list of rides. I would say it surprised us and was better than expected. Thanks for watching!

Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching!
What do you do with your bikes when you are at a hotel for the night? Do they let you take them to your room?
