Thanks for the video - to my opinion it is crucial to understand the difference between the Serato licensing: When you have your DDJ controller for e.g., SX3, the license you have is "Serato DJ Pro hardware unlocked" - means that when you connect your laptop in the setup above, you will NOT be able to work with your Serato DJ Pro, as the license is internally on the DDJ controller. Only if you own a Serato DJ Pro license, it's ok to use the HID mode like the above. I hope I'm not mistaken here but this may confuse many DJs.
Agreed! Soon as I went HID mode... Serato prompted for a trial license of the club kit.... I have an s11 and sx3 at home but no standalone pro license... Hope this helps!
@@danielsaddyful Entonces. Gracias por este punto. Pensé que los cdjs desbloqueaban SERATO DJ PRO, tal como lo hacen los controladores ddj sx. 😢 Entonces tendré que pagar para poder usarlo.
I think this could be the reason my HID mode crashed last night.... First gig on club gear and everything just went blank... Lucky it was early in the night and not many people around.... Reverted to USB's and all good in the end.
I followed this to the T. I have Serato DJ Pro and a full NXS2 setup. I'm running the latest MAC OS. Is there a setting in Serato DJ Pro that I have to change? When I go to press press MIDI and connect to computer on the CDJ it still says disconnected. I tried both a powered and unpowered HUB.
You don't need a Serato Club Kit of Serato Essentials license (= Serato DJ Pro + Serato DVS) when you use CDJs in HID mode. A regular Serato DJ Pro license will do, a DVS license is not required.

Crossfader what if i have the XDJ-1000 or CDJ-900 but with a old Pioneer mixer that doesn't have USB support, does it still going to work the HiD ? What about adjusting the vinly mode on HID how is made ?
No you won’t need a DVS license with HID mode. However you will need the essentials pack to plug into a mixer like the DJM 900nexus to activate its soundcard. This used to be called club kit. In the essentials pack you get DVS with it anyway. However if you’re using a branded Serato mixer that has the Serato soundcard already in hid mode will work without extra purchases.

Great vid mate. I did have a question though: would the USB dongle be necessary if you had the CDJs, mixer, and laptop connected via ethernet to create the "pro Dj link" network? If you did that, could you just connect the mixer via usb to your laptop to talk with Serato? Thanks in advance
Has anyone noticed a big sound quality difference between HID mode and just plugging your USB stick through your CDJ's through a line connection ?? The USB stick sounds as it should punchy clear and crisp. But when using HID mode the sound loses its dynamics, the bass sounds very weak and the track just doesnt sound as it should. Any advice in how to resolve this would be highly appreciated
The only thing I can think off is a rather limited output from the laptop or computer you are working with, given that you actually use the device's own sound-output. Many onboard sound-cards serve their purpose, but indeed can lack quality. The difference in quality can't be down to the HID-mode itself, as only control-signals are sent from the deck to the computer which control the audio ON that computer, which is then sent out via either speaker-output of that computer or via a USB-audio interface to a plain analog mixer. Both cases can feature a difference in sound-experience: not every USB-audio interface or onboard sound-card uses the same electronics and some are just better and some are worse than the stuff in your mixing table.
I can see this being a thing. I use usb only because I hate the fact of using a laptop. But in the flip side, it’s WAY easier to find tracks you want vs scrolling and sorting with the nob. I guess my reply is I only would use HID for like a wedding when I need to find requests quick. (If I am nice)
You will have to elaborate a bit for us. Do you mean the paid version of Serato? If you get the Serato essentials pack then you will need a usb hub and a usb cable for each CDJ/mixer to connect them all to your laptop. Just check which equipment is Serato enabled form their website.
Yes, if these are XDJ-1000MK1s (NOT XDJ-1000MK2s). Just connect your SX2 as you would usually and for XDJsfollow rge steps in the video (but selcet deck 3 and 4 ob the two players of course)
Not with the CDJ 1000’s as they don’t have a USB port. You would be looking at setting Serato up in DVS mode instead using a Serato enabled mixer or a Denon ds1.
Is the Serato DJ Club Kit still necessary for this setup? I have access to a full NXS2 setup, but have not tried HID mode yet; every other video I've seen mentions buying the club kit for this to work.

Great vid mate. I did have a question though: would the USB dongle be necessary if you had the CDJs, mixer, and laptop connected via ethernet to create the "pro Dj link" network? If you did that, could you just connect the mixer via usb to your laptop to talk with Serato? Thanks in advance
Hi, need cds time code for using serato dj pro on cdj 2000
Do presaved hot cues load up on cdjs in HID mode? Or would you have to recreate them?
nah man if you already prepared a set it will translate to the cdj effortlessly
Is it stable for gigs ?
Yeah we've used it with no problems currently. If there are any issues it is likely that the CDJ firmware needs updating.
What would a paid version need to connect?
You will have to elaborate a bit for us. Do you mean the paid version of Serato? If you get the Serato essentials pack then you will need a usb hub and a usb cable for each CDJ/mixer to connect them all to your laptop. Just check which equipment is Serato enabled form their website.
Crossfader okey, thanks for the answer
Can i assign 3 N 4 channels on SX2 to two XDJ 1000s??
Yes, if these are XDJ-1000MK1s (NOT XDJ-1000MK2s). Just connect your SX2 as you would usually and for XDJsfollow rge steps in the video (but selcet deck 3 and 4 ob the two players of course)
Will it work on Akai AMX?
Yeah it should do!
How can i use my pioneer djm 750 on serato dj?
Need some help please
You would need an external soundcard like the Denon ds1 to use it as the DJM 750 isn’t one of the supported Serato mixers.
Can you blag me a pair of cdj's the 900nxs would be very cool. Thank you
My question is the USB BUFFER LATENCY
enough is a usb hub I put in the laptop and three usb cable with which I in the playern and blenderheinge and in the usb hub
Shiiddd can i do this anything like this with cdj 1000's
Not with the CDJ 1000’s as they don’t have a USB port. You would be looking at setting Serato up in DVS mode instead using a Serato enabled mixer or a Denon ds1.
@@Crossfader 900nxs2 with xdj1000mk2 Serato DJ pro not connecting please help me
Question: HID Mode both in rekordbox and in serato will not require rca audio cables to run from cdjs to mixer right?
correct, no rca cables needed
Is the Serato DJ Club Kit still necessary for this setup? I have access to a full NXS2 setup, but have not tried HID mode yet; every other video I've seen mentions buying the club kit for this to work.
Yeah club kit is necessary. It’s basically bundled into the Serato DJ essentials pack now.
Oh, I see. That's disappointing. Thank you for answering though!
Crossfader I have to disagree, you just need the club kit if you want to use DVS not HID
Wow
FRAUDE
do we need to run the music through rekordbox and then plug in serato?
