As an entp I think it’s misunderstood that we play devils advocate just to be contrary... To me, we tend to think in the abstract and use the contrary reference point to force out your thought process rather than your conclusions.

As an ENTP I play devils advocate because I don’t believe the truth is black and white and so to reach the truth I must argue on the other side as both sides are somewhat true essentially

I’m ENTP and I agree with both of these, but also I do it because it annoys me when one person ONLY sees one side and sticks by it without considering other perspectives so like you said I bring up other perspectives even if I don’t agree with them just so the other thinks more broadly and not so narrow minded. For example if one says this thing is truth because of their personal experience and perspective or feelings, then I come in and pick it apart or say well what if this happened or this and show them that everyone’s perspective is different so how can that be truth. This irritates people but I find it fun and entertaining. Needless to say me and my infp sister GET INTO IT 😂😂

@@audreynicholas5322 Absolutely. A few of the more stern SJ types interpret it as trolling / being argumentative. I've always thought it was "socratic" or more akin to a pattern of brainstorming/dialogue. I've matured enough to know how to avoid irritating people and you would be surprised that when you play devils advocate long enough you ironically become very good at seeing, explaining and even settling differences of opinion amicably.
I've noticed it's typically the rigid people how are too narrowminded to see that that's our way of being helpful, some people are more concerned with exerting their will on others whereas we're strenuously openminded.

ENTP here, as to how we get stuff done despite giving off the appearance of slacking. Picture ENTP's like robots with glowing laser eyes and mini radar satellites for ears. Now program that ENTP robot to complete a task by next week. The ENTP bot will spend all of next week exploring and scanning it's various environments and situations with a question "How does this person, place, thing, idea, or concept relate to the task?". The ENTP bot will also constantly be processing those items that related the most amount of information against each other, looking for high contrast or correlation. No interaction the ENTP has with its environments is insignificant as its all being processed through the task. Finally, 30 minutes before the weeks is up, ENTP bot assembles its task with alarming speed and efficient use of items it picked up during its scanning and data processing time.
If someone walked in on the last 30 minutes without knowing how ENTP bot scanned and processed data for a week, then ENTP bots completion of the task seems creatively if not chaoticly rapid in its assemblage. When in reality it's overwhelming informative and magnificently analytical.
As ENTP human beings we do this all the time subconsciously to any task/tasks we find interesting. It's why we have such a wide net of friends and curiosity, why we will piss you off playing devils advocate >;-) or seek out you socially dysfunctional wallflowers and glamour you into conversation. Because all new information becomes relative to the task subconsciously. Your ideas and opinions matter to us, because we understand ourselves by what we think about everything else.
With all that said, I can see you've been taken hostage in a closet. Somehow you got access to a phone. Yet, rather then prioritize calling the authorities for aide, you instead chose to sing glorious praises of the ENTP to the world. I approve of your decision, in a way being open about ENTP's as Gods amongst mortals is its own kind of sweet, sweet freedom.

Grim Song This made me laugh so much. I needed that Thank You! I love the sense of humor! I’ve been missing my one ENTP friends hilarious comments.. This is very interesting, I have wondered at how you all accomplish projects and task the way you do. So creatively, with the look of effortless ease. And a amount of efficiency that we respect. Thank You for the comment.

You're welcome, to be honest we do love you INTJ's. Like if life was some bullshit Disney movie, then the analytical INTJ princess and the creative vagabond ENTP would randomly bump into each other as they each rambled and ranted about how the world didn't understand their ideas. The camera frantically panning between the two as they build off each others rant. Till finally, they are face to face in the camera shot together, everything is quiet as they really see each other for the first time, then they say simultaneously, "You have such beautiful ideas..."

    • @brosis3249
      @brosis3249  6 років тому +2

Grim Song Yes, you are probably pretty accurate here. :) I could definitely see this happening.

    • @grimsong2237

So I was making spaghetti and listening to a David Bowie remix. As I was stirring the sauce I was reminded of that scene in the mafia movie Goodfellas where they are making dinner in prison. They say:
Mafia goon: "Hey Vinnie don't put to many onions in the sauce!"
Vinnie: "I didn't put to many onions in the sauce, just 3 onions."
Narrator: "Truth was, Vinnie made one hell of a dam good sauce, even if he put to many onions in it."
Then it hit me, the part in the video where you talk about ENTP's and debate lmao.
For ENTP's debate is a pinnacle method of problem solving. We are not trying to just solve a problem, we are trying to become one with the problem. By seeing all sides of the issue we can see what conditions are needed to create and sustain a problem. We are not just looking to fix the immediate problem like an INTJ we want to go further and wider and compensate for the conditions that create the problem itself.
For instance a piece of machinery fails. INTJ mechanic efficiently diagnoses and solves the problem, eroded wires.
INTJ mechanic: "Well eroded wires, it happens, changing them should fix the problem"
ENTP mechanic: Smiles mischievously, "Mmm nope."
INTJ mechanic: "Dude, don't, it's late, I'm tired and I can tell by looking at you that you know that I am right!"
ENTP mechanic: Grins, "This is why it won't fix the problem..."
Despite INTJ's mechanics best efforts ENTP mechanic probes, goads, begulies, and outright provokes a debate out of INTJ mechanic. ENTP mechanic playing Devils Advocate of course >:^) .
      Till finally,
ENTP mechanic: "So you see it has to be something like acid, like from the machines battery!"
INTJ mechanic: Opens his mouth to debate but pauses considering, then checks the battery for cracks. "I see where your going, but no cracks. Hmm."
      ENTP mechanic "Try the cap."
INTJ mechanic does and the batteries caps broken and won't tighten properly. It's been splashing the wires with acid, thus disabling the machine.
Debate is a skill. Most people think ENTP's are natural debaters, this is false. We only have a natural need to debate. We can't shut up lol. As children we are impulsively engaging in debate, unfortunately often with authority figures. Failure to conceive palatable convincing debates as children leads to harsh punishments or rebukes from adults. So ENTP's are forced to adapt as children to avoid harm from an impulse they can't control. Charisma, humor, acknowledging the other sides points or perspectives before we disagree, keeping it on topic and not get personal etc.
We need to regularly debate like a bird needs to preen it's feathers regularly to fly. INTJ'S are safest (and one of the most fun) debate partners we can have, you all are no mental slouches afterall.
If an ENTP is probing you for a debate, acknowledge it lightheartedly and say something like "Ok I'll bite" or "Ok, I'll play your game" and debate us with joy. Or calmly explain why your not up for a debate with sincerity, we usually will drop it then. Well probably, ...sometimes, ...maybe? :-P
Symbolicly this is what debate looks and feels like for an ENTP

Grim Song This about explains every debate I have had with a ENTP. When we are trying to solve something and I have a light bulb moment. I am ready to move on. But yes like you said you all are different in that way. I just want the answer, and fix the problem. But the ENTP method of not leaving any rock unturned. And my lack of this exercise, is why I have sometimes missed something. And why it’s nice to have another perspective.

If you have not already been planning to do this, I think you might enjoy discussing the ENTJ personality type (the similar, extraverted counter-type) as well!
Actually, you'd probably enjoy talking about both the ENTJ and the INTP being an INTJ.
I'm also not sure if you have already spoken about this or not, but I was wondering if you know whether or not you are the Assertive or Turbulent variant of the INTJ type. My educated guess is that you are of the Turbulent type, but then again, I could be wrong.
Much thanks for replying! Have a wonderful day.
P.S. You have a fascinating mind -- but that's probably what every INTJ hears -- ha.

THIS VIDEO JUST STROKED MY EGO TO THE MAX. HAHAHA!
Thank you for giving your insights on our personality type and for appreciating(?) our temperament ;D it's not an everyday occurrence for us, entps, to be accepted fully/understood by others because our scattered and "inconsistent" behaviors tend to give the people the wrong impression of us, of that we are just crazy and delusional people. However, it seems that you intj's seem to get us and our ideas without even trying. What and why do you think makes the INTJ's able to read us so well? From what I know, you guys can be skeptical and untrusting other but it seems, oddly enough, that you guys actually like us (and our fellow ENFP's) instead of thinking that we are annoying.
BTW, I heard from Jack that you are going to be apart of the NT channel as well!
I am so stoked to have great discussions with you guys ;D
I honestly have no idea as to how we even came together but I have a really good feeling about this ;D
Hope to hear back from you soon :)
P.S HAHA why are you hiding in the closet? Are closets the new hangout place for intj’s? (Looks at fellow ENTP’s and ENFP’s) “Ok, change of plans, we are now going to start breaking into people’s houses to collect our intj’s!”

    • @brosis3249
      @brosis3249  6 років тому +2

Inspo-Creator Jihye Hahaha.. I think the biggest reason why we are grateful for you all. Is because you all are so real and frank with a quirky charm that makes the best combination. It is hard to find these days.. But for whatever reason others have a problem with.
I don’t know how exactly we understand and get along with ENTP’s. But a lot of times it seems like you all often say and act on what we are thinking but not saying. That is always something that catches me off guard and I love. When a ENTP walks in the room, and points out the elephant in the room issue. I’m still sitting there thinking about the most strategic way to broach the subject. But in the end all that strategy didn’t really matter. :)
And I agree ENTP’s get very misjudged. But as I am sure you know INTJ’s like making there own judgements. And we also get judged unfairly. So I often disregard others comments on a new ENTP acquaintance. And I find that person just to my liking cause they are kind of different like me and all other INTJ’s. I appreciate and would take the unique individual over the “perfectly” neat, scheduled, “socially acceptable” individuals that lack a creative mind.
I am so excited about this project I think it could be a lot of fun! And am really glad you are joining. I love your channel and your sense of humor is hilarious. :D This endeavor I think has a lot of potential. And a great way to learn and see how these NT types collaborate. :)

First of all, Holy shit you guys on a project together would be awesome. Please keep us updated..
Also, I'm running low on INTJs. My usual strategy of throwing out logical fallacies with a witty sarcasm isn't working since they've discovered closets.
Hopefully your project helps us find each other better

postmanTEN Well, that is a shame because typically you ENTP’s interesting and witty conversations, and projects get us to come around to see what is going on. Entp here. I love intj right back. They bring focus and undying drive and motivation to the table, and these are the things I, for one, respect the most. Your ability to just power through objectives, and stay on target is something I envy greatly.
I value intj opinnions and input immensly, as I know I can rely on their inteligent, objective analitical minds, to keep me on the right path. It can be hard to get that opinion out of you, especially when it's not positive, and we may come into conflict over hard truths vs comfortable lies, but for me, it's always worth it.
I love helping intjs with their objectives, as just tagging allong makes me feel like I'm also focused :))

this is just music to my entp ears... i think that intjs are drawn to entps coz we actually just voice out what intjs keep to themselves... I am condescending and will express that condescension that an intj might think as well, but will not say coz u know social convention. if we entps could get inside an intjs mind, its funny and hilarious. So we get each other in such a way that you know, no judgement. An entp-intj dynamic is almost a safe space for condescension, dark wit, satire, and humor.

I am an ENTP. I have met only one INTJ in my life, I feel like when I was at my worst, he was the only one who really listened to my problems and gave advise that actually made sense without judging me like all the other types. I can see he really likes me because I never seen anyone laughing so hard at all the mean jokes I say, but I never knew why he likes me so much, all the other UA-cam videos are about why ENTPs like INTJs, not the other way around, so I'm really glad that I found this video

Hahahhahaa may be you could consider their point of view as well as they might want to see your (good) mood rather than your real great personality, but I just tried to understand (perceive) your personality (the real YOU) as mood couldn’t reflex personality.
Furthermore, some judgers gather information (Se), make their own impression (Ni), and take decision (Te) which, some time, might not help them understand the Real YOU unless they use Ti or Fi (Subjective thinking or Feeling FOR YOU).
Anyhow you can try to express more frequently and openly so that you could reveal the real you rather than just to show the mood.

They say INTJs have a strong tendency to be arrogant, in fact, they're supposed to be the type that is most strongly related to narcissistic personality disorder. Can you confirm this?

    • @brosis3249

77Night77Shade77 Arrogance and pride that leads to narcissism. Can be a very possible downfall of a INTJ. Something I have to be aware of on a regular basis.
I think a lot of the perceived impressions of INTJS. Is due to the fact a INTJ can be very out of touch with people, and the World around them. That they give off the wrong impression more then they mean to.

    • @77Night77Shade77
      @77Night77Shade77 6 років тому +1

I doubt it can really be called an "impression", at this point, there seems to be a very clear pattern here and quite a lot of people who have the INTJ personality type attributed to them, actually don't seem to mind being described as arrogant, very much. There are some of the more extreme cases, like Christopher Hitchens, H.L. Mencken and Isaac Asimov, all three of whom supposedly INTJs, who made no secret whatsoever of the fact that they thought _very_ highly of themselves, very little of others and even used this to their advantage. Then there are less extreme cases, but the common characteristic seems to be a stong bend towards what most people would call narcissism. I'll put a link in this thread, see for yourself.

Here's a list of some of the most famous people in history, classified as INTJ: www.idrlabs.com/intj.php

lNFJs are worse for narcissism. lNTJs tend to have a grounded type of arrogance though its annoying its based on facts and not feelings.
l tends to be more passive aggressive
N base understanding how things work
      F exploiting feelings
      J scheming

77Night77Shade77 Yes, that’s true. There is a lot of people who are INTJS now and in history who can be classified as narcissistic. Like I said it is a very big downfall and weakness. What I was trying to clarify is there are times and people who are mislabeled by others. That is the exception and not the rule though I will admit..

entp: "why are you in your closet?"
I'm sure I know the answer, but just curious.
also, "why is your video black and white?"

    • @brosis3249

Twilight Sun Well, I live in a very big noisy house right now. I’m moving soon, but right now this closet is the only quite place with ok acoustics. The video is in black and white because my equipment is very low quality and the lights are distracting and glaring on the screen. The black and white made that problem less distracting. Now I have a different light set up. I know, very low budget and weird. :) I was to excited to share some of my thoughts to wait for better equipment..
