ENTP Shadow Functions : INTJ

  • ENTP Ego : Ne Ti Fe Si
ENTP Unconscious : Ni Te Fi Se
When we struggle we may switch the four functions we use.
This happens without us even realizing which is why we need to learn all eight. :)
    Cognitive Functions
Perceiving Functions - Se Si Ne Ni
The four perceiving functions influence how we understand our reality right now. Your past experiences are Si, your current reality is Se, your plan for the future is Ni, and Ne is all the crazy connections and randomness along the way.
Judging Functions - Fe Fi Te Ti
The four judging functions influence our decisions we make everyday. We listen to the Fe feedback of our community, listen to our own Fi beliefs, trust how we understand a certain thing using our Ti framework, and lastly taking Te objective action.

I'm an ENTP and I totally agree that I act like an INTJ when I'm in a bad mental space, but it's also when I'm at my most productive and actually knuckle down and follow through on my ideas.

Yes! Whenever I’m in, what my husband has dubbed, my “work mode” I am so efficient! But if someone even remotely gets in the way of what I’ve set my mind to, I just go off. Definitely not healthy for long periods of time but, hell, it gets shit done. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The trick here is, there is a balance. Ni needs goals, and Ne needs to receive ideas. However, this isn’t an or question.
      Why not both?
Why not make your goal to receive the most ideas. Maybe define the terms. Learn the most about a specific subject.
I don’t need goals, i just need direction. I let the sail of life sail me towards my end-goal

    As an INTJ: interesting.
In my more unhinged moments, I act like an ENTP. LOL
There's certainly a reason why the two most common villain types are ENTP and INTJ...
For real ones, it's all too easy to embrace the darkness when people around you already view you as the villain...

As a more mature e NTP I noticed a long time ago that I could manipulate almost every situation I wanted but I simply chose a path where I avoided people I could manipulate and only be around people I respect It does limit your social group but it doesn't pullout of the bad tendencies because everyone around you respect. I literally will pull back from a relationship when I know the other person has feelings more so than I could ever match to protect them from them self instead of using it in my favor

This resonated with me so deep, I have always had a good relationship with my mom but there was a point were her traditional values interfere with my happiness and our relationship I wanted to please her, and my family for the longest time but there was a point where I chose ME and exploded, I hurt a lot of people included my mom I hate the way I went about it, but I don't regret doing it, staying true to myself is the greatest gift from it, I found so much clarity and see life and people in a different way, I finally feel like I have matured.

I think instead of avoiding it, we can be aware when it shows, unexpectedly or intentionally. My intj shadows in the past has helped me get out of sticky situations, some has negative results and some has positive results. Thank you for highlighting the risks, but I think healthy entp can jump in and out the intj shadow (and isfj and esfp) seamlessly. I'm getting better at it.
It is draining though using Ni and Te intentionally BUT it's good for our growth since both functions are automatically triggered by Fi, which is foreign to us. Thanks Melissa

When you do come out of it all the damage will still be there for you and everyone else to live with. There is nothing cool or admirable about any of it, it's just a f*cking tragedy that could have been avoided with some insight and self control

I had to shut down a girl over text because I couldn’t stand being around her, she tried manipulating me to have a personality to love her and I played the game for a while made her open up after a month and then used the personality to tear her apart bit by bit and a few weeks later I heard from one of her friends who thought we were dating that she started cutting and and it’s rough but I did what I needed to do to escape that but I still feel bad that that’s what she decided to do
Also as an ENTP for the binding of my life I didn’t feel emotion I could mimic it but never truly feel and lead me to some bad actions that I’m not proud of I’m glad I can feel emotions now!
Also ENTP is Joker’s personality while INTJ is Batman’s
With that knowledge ENTP don’t make the INTJ come after you and beat you up in a dark street ally because clearly they will

I wish this video was the first thing ENTP's saw after they take the test 99 times debating the outcome every time. It is a great slap in the face. Explains pretty much every downward spiral I have fallen into and how I could've not burned so so so many bridges. Kept me out of the courts and my family from being shattered to pieces. If you are a young ENTP rolling your eyes at this video, Know that Gravity works, terminal velocity only increases the larger your ego gets and the reality that is "the ground" will obliterate you and everyone around you as your crash into it. Be humble and find something in humanity you can cherish, a vector you wished it could achieve regardless of its setbacks.

    • @don-eb3fj
      @don-eb3fj Рік тому

Awesome use of the "terminal velocity" metaphor, very visual- you're speaking my language.
"...find something in humanity you can cherish, a vector you wished it could achieve..." now THAT is a statement all personality types would do well to remember, and I'm stealing it! It's so hard to do this when under seige by overwhelm and chaos and frustration, so easy to spiral into misanthropy and burn not just bridges but EVERYTHING , or simply slam the door shut and think pyromanic thoughts while allowing ignorance and entropy to achieve the same ends more slowly. Either way, in the aftermath it becomes increasingly difficult to sift through the ashes to find a warm glowing coal to breathe life into as the cold dark enfolds you in its embrace. Take heed, when entering the land of shadows, be certain you leave the door open and leave a light on!

hey, i've been through that exact fucking rabbit hole.
      MEDITATE.
our fi is so god damn useless that honestly it's probably the best "shadow mode" tell-tale sign. Do you really *want* *the* shiny (not any shiny, THE shiny) or are you bored? In fact, when boredom starts to get a bit overwhelming... Talk to someone. Ask them to please tell you some interesting stuff. NO SMALL TALK. NO FEELINGS (for a bit). Just, anything they find interesting.
Also, you will catch yourself feeling this mental "noise". It's not a real noise, it's just your mind feeling a bit DENSE. Like you're thinking a LOT about jack shit. Like you're not thinking about anything but your mind is ready to fucking catch on fire spontaneously. Can't quite word it but it's not quite anxiety - it just feels like a byproduct of anxiety.
If you find your behavior problematic and are actively trying to change it, odds are you don't have a (cluster B) PD, you're just somewhat immature. Guess what? That's VERY good news. Sam Vaknin has some very interesting stuff on PDs. It's another outlook, entirely.
Another bit of advice: you'll thoroughly notice your shadow because your desires feel ephemeral and rage is the driving factor (im usually a VERY emotionally calm individual, generally quite physically calm unless there's just too much going on, but on my shadow i just want to take MORE risks. Im not super risk averse regardless of the situation, but on my shadow ill just take POINTLESS and VERY DANGEROUS risks just to get out of my head). I'm generally not an "angry" person though i am somewhat volatile.
I'll give you one extra tid bit for anxiety and depression: both of those conditions are relatively easy to feel as we're still "weird" to an SJ normative society. Do you know how to not deal with SJs anymore than is necessary? Don't small talk. Be emotionally available but don't just talk pointless crap. You will *know* an NT when you see one simply because they are bewildered but grateful that you don't bore them with the SJ normative garbage. Filtering tool if you're meeting people - you won't get along with too many people if you do that, but you'll notice that the people you do get along with are much more accepting of you "as is" instead of you as a "2d projection" of yourself.
Best of luck, fellow ENTP friend. Life isn't always easy, but we can make it far more "agreeable" - yeah getting tasks done sucks - but some tasks are far easier if you get on with them instead of letting them become a massive problem. I never get *all* the tasks done because a) straight up i don't care enough to bore myself to death b) i have something to do if i want to give myself a few days of "calm time". I'll procrastinate them until I get some motivation going, then I'll get some shit done, then I'll probably nap from the mental stress from going "okay this should have gotten done like 3w ago". Praise yourself for getting tasks done - remember it's not a massive thing you've done - it's still a "task" - but by doing so you're allowing yourself to focus on all the shinies without your life falling apart the moment you face the slightest inconvenience. Carry a notebook and a pen, and just organize your tasks, the meaningless crap, whenever you get some boring time. As it turns out, just by overloading myself with Si procedural stuff - that's still "human upkeep" - i can get myself to just deal with it instead of doing all the boring stuff. I don't force myself to do tasks, but if I get overwhelmed/start missing out, I'll just write them down. Break them into as little components as I can - within reason. Yeah "clean kitchen" is a task. How about it becomes "do the dishes" "clean kitchen floor" "clean kitchen counters" "clean the stove". You can probably get through one of those and not die of boredom.
Then, you get to cross that out. It will motivate you because it gets you "going". Nobody is going to check up on whether you did the task, or how. But it's up to you how well (and thus how often) they get done - a quality job simply takes longer to fall apart. Also, don't forget your daily sunlight. No sun will kill your mood faster than you piss SJs off (tell them how much you dislike and fail to abide by their stupid rules and witness them just start seeing red lol)

I feel that all of us ENTPs have the hold ouserlvs back, because we are so capable of literaly achieving anything that people get scared and try to hurt us even when we are trying to be nice. There were so many times in my life that did not do what was best for me or what had to done only so people could feel good and confortable, I kind regret doing this but I am afraid I might end alone in life, so I try to please others, even if they dont make sense to me

It comes from being put in prison as a young man, but to this day if I don't feel like I'm in 100% control I lash out like I want to burn the world down so I can own the grass that grows back. The only thing that keeps me from obsessing over this silly dictator dream of mine, is psychedelics. It brings me back to entp base, what is scary is the things I'm capable of when healthy, and the things I obsess over when I'm not. It has me believing I'm bipolar, but who knows.

This is just true, could not be anymore true, recently my mother passed away and in my entire life she's been just that much special person for me, suddenly ppl close to me realized that I changed, I used to NOT judge people just because they have flaws and problems in what they are doing(or instead I usually try to help them with their problems), and I unconciously become VERY VERY MANIPULATIVE, being very direct person. The most noticeable thing is that I know what I said is going to hurt the other person feeling, but I said it anyway without a single hesitation because I think like "F it, I dont want to deal with it anymore" ,
Being on MBTI recently and found out I might be an ENTP and brought me here, glad to find the logical answer to it, Thank you so much Melissa

Hrmm ... so this describes me at work lately, going to war has been a normal course of events which I was actually okay with TBH. Well played Melissa, I'm going to take a step or twelve back and rethink what I'm doing. This reminds me of scene in clone wars (it's a star wars cartoon) with dark Yoda although instead of owning the crank monster within, I think I took it out for beers and we had fun discussing the invasion :p

So so true! Everything's spot on! Especially that one part, when I offered a new idea to my parent, they point out every little mistake and detail I failed to notice which comes off as so belittling as in their minds I was making half assed decisions when I just stated out a random passing thought. I was just sharing a thought but they translate as me wanting that idea to be for the long term and belittle me for being so unprepared or uneducated. Partly because of this and some other personal problems, I definitely had a phase where I was overly emotional to the point it made me so uncomfy as it felt wrong to rely on my emotions but I did anyway, and I lashed out on a lot of my classmates and friends due to the exceeding stress. Looking back, I feel terrible as I lashed out on some of them in our groups so it was recorded in the history of our group chat, and while I still agree with my previous points, I still wished I could've said it in a better way.

Feels like I'm at the psychologist :')
...I.. I mostly like my "unhealthy" side.
When I'm acting like myself people see me the wrong way and it gets annoying. Hard to explain...
To be honest, the best thing for me is when I find a balance with those shadow functions and use them when I need
+ I still don't understand why is bad to bluntly call people out on their mistakes. I'm ready to be called out if I do shit like that. Most of the times (with the people I know) they won't change for the best if you show them ways... they need to be f.ing bullied into that, for their own sake... Like why the hell are you repeating patterns that hurt you and only sit there complaining....... they don't even appreciate solutions, they want people to feel mercy. Well guess what, that disgusts me and I just can't stand it. It happens sooooo often with the people I have around.....
For how long am I supposed to use my empathy and patiently try to help them.. why are they asking for help in the first place if they dont even want it 💀

As a Sx6 ENTP... I consider this as a superpower so no one can mess with me. And I have honed it on purpose as time passed by so I can use it as knife towards those who try to hurt me, but not against my loved ones (unless it's necessary.)
I admit it gets ugly, but trust me... People sometimes push you to do it, and I do it with a smile too.

25M. i just want to say i HATED watching this a couple months ago when i was in a state of mental atrophy because bad things had happened and clearly i went shadow mode.
now that i'm... calm enough (?) i guess my take on this is: clashing Fi against Fe as a defense mechanism is naaaastyy. i can see clearly how i made everything worse then by setting a "Me vs Them" belief system that spiraled into getting people worried and becoming even more stressed because of it. (after all, there's no such thing as only accessing the desired unconscious functions - so that burning hot sauce Se was added to the mix as well) 🤦🏻‍♂
i guess the actual rope hanging by the abyss will always be Ti & Si for us. i've noticed since then that trying to emulate INTP generally brings better results when default behavior fails too much. i'm starting to think that the actual gateway past the inferior function is... really just developing the inferior function.

A lot of what you're describing as unconscious Te (lack of value for others emotions and nitpicking specific issues) sounds like a demon Fe/Si state. That said, I'm glad you went hard on trickster Fi and morality blackholes. An ex-friend of mine is an ENTP and it always bothered me how she would rationalize certain moral choices if it Ti worked in her favor. I feel it's every type's responsibility to start making their unconscious functions more conscious once they understand what those functions are.

You know I think this is the right place to write about this. My MBTI journey started 2021 july when I wasn't even 14 yo. There was a few months without any interest towards the thing but on december that year I kind of went wild with personality types. I first thought I was an INFJ, I actually thought so till 2022 december :d.. I know I am very young and maybe I shouldn't study MBTI and other things as enneagram but who cares.. 15 yo currently. I started to realize that I wasn't an INFJ at the end of november. I started to think I am an INTJ at the beginning of this year but some things as my talkativity and ability to be so humorous and sspontaneous was weird to me. I do have strong values as my father (ISFJ) has teached me and kind of coded me the way I am. anyway I do not have strong morals.. You see what I'm talking about? Though I have been able to do very well at school. Actually I think its because Finlands skecthy too easy school system. (I wish I could grow up again but in UK or USA). Anyways troughout your videos and especially this one I have figured out I have been an unhealthy ENTP all the time! I got my self esteem back and I know who I am! Thanks for making all these videos sharing your opinions which stand out from the group! The MBTI community is very stereotyped which is why I didn't get what my personality was. I probably should have used more time exploring the world of the functions :p .. I hope you read this and all good for such amazing person😊
(edit: I forgot to mention that I actually thought I was INTJ 7w6 and was confused as people said it was impossible. Well.. gotta go learn more on cognitive functions! Bye)'
( Sorry for a new edit did I forget to mention that I like to go out doing stuff like karting, swimming, walking in nature and stuff but I cant get anything done alone. That's why I have my social anxiety sharer INTP with me all the time)

Honestly I'd spent good 6 years in total maybe of my 28 years of life in that shadow function mode. Yes, it is hell. But strangely enough, it did actually made me able to connect with my Fi better. Huh. Cause bc that state was so prolonged by bad circumstances I simply could not affect, that I simply had to survive, o started learning how to be a bit better at being that, how to make my values a bit less fluid, this state of social isolation pushing me to do so much introspection. Being my worst critic at times but I did kinda need to be that real with myself. People around me suffered but it was also them who brought these crushing circumstances upon me so uhh. And they learned they must change they ways too bc I won't put up with it no more. Because I was too selfless when with ppl I was close to and that ate away at me too much. Because these people kept disrespecting my bonduaries, betraying trust, gaslighting me, trying to ruin my social life etc. It's not a good mode to be in, no. But it's what makes me confident I can survive no matter what. I've recovered and become so so much more stable, very understanding, even of people with strong beliefs that they cannot explain. I'm more patient with others and myself. And that's bc I know I can't be broken even if the worst comes to worst.
