In this Boot Battle, we're comparing the Timberland Basic vs Premium. I'm looking at the icon in the classic wheat nubuck color. Get your own pair of Timberland Premium Boots on Amazon → amzn.to/3ml54Ag
For the Timberland Basic → amzn.to/39peKn6
The Timberland Premium Boot is a handsome and iconic design, and it’s built well. The quadruple stitching, Primaloft insulation, thick rubber heel, and padded leather collar are all designed to go the distance.
The biggest drawback is the cemented sole construction, which likely won't hold up to tough working conditions like a Goodyear welted boot.
I mentioned a few alternatives to the Timberland Premium 6" Waterproof Boot when it comes to working applications. You can find those below:
Danner Bull Run on Amazon → amzn.to/3ohMUNW
Thorogood Moc Toe on Amazon → amzn.to/3a18yR8
The Timberland Basic boot has a few more drawbacks to it that I explain in detail in the video.

You forgot the most important thing. The basic is a lot lighter than the premium. I have both basic and premium in black. The first one I bought was premium and they were way too heavy on my feet so then I bought the basic. I prefer the basic because they are lighter. The most important thing to me was that they are waterproof. That’s why I bought them in the first place.
stick to the heavys. someone causes you trouble. blast em in the balls.
Basic boots are better for walking long distances, climbing small mountains, hunting, and especially for warmer climates.
I think the basic is more casual. You would look more proper if you were trying to wear them as casual dress. The premiums are nice too but look a little bit harder which is cool too.
I going to drop some real knowledge, when Timberlands got popular in the late 80s early 90's no body really was buying the premiums the majority of people had the steel toe basics, and not the basics in this thumbnail, they didn't have a leather collar on the upper, it was an all nubuck upper! 6" & 8" they came in wheat and black leather, mfrs be lying talking about they didn't wear basics lmmfao the original basics basics are the 💩 and they didn't have the soft hollow rubber that they have today, they really could take a beating and you can see people wearing in early to mid 90's music videos, the premium were out but didn't really serious getting popular until about 1994 and Know for sure because I was buying them, Timberlands Competition back then was Gucci boots, Nike ACG, Geogio Brutini boots, Gortex, Columbia boot, Wolverine, HH Brown, LL Bean, Karl and Kani, and Lugz was just coming out or dubut.
This nigga know his shit.
Back in the 1980's I was wearing Herman Survivors. They were the cheaper alternative to Timberlands. You're right that the timberlands didn't catch on until the 1990's.
I used to rock Lugz bcuz I could not afford Timbs….and also bcuz I was in middle school😂
💯💯💯💯
damn this might just be the longest sentence i have ever read🤣
I'm buying my very first pair of timberland grey boots but in basic for casual everyday uses, I'm planning on getting the premium for special occasions.
No doubt on Timberland 6 inch premium. Got 2 pair of it with 2 deference colour. No regret with the quality. Thanks Timberland for the passion.
You didn't factor in weather. The basics are better suited for warmer environments. If you live in a place like Los Angeles, Southern California, Miami, Hawaii or in an area that's usually warm, sunny or humid, the basic is much lighter. The premium is too insulated and is too padded and would look and feel excessive or out of place. The basic gives you the aesthetic without the bulkiness and cold-lined insulation, especially if you're mainly wearing these around town for style purposes. And in spring, summer or when it's above 60 degrees your feet will appreciate it.
I am rocking the classic basic ones for ages now. Never have I ever worn a better shoe.
My premiums from 5 years ago are still going strong! Got at least 3 more years left in them!!
Dang, you know how to care for some Timbs!
I routinely get 10 years out of mine. I have a pair of Timberland chocura trail gore tex hikers that are pushing 15 years. Changed the insoles and the laces once...that's all!
Get both. You thank yourself for it. Get a black pair too. The black basics are 🔥 you could do what we call "Wheats" or "buttas" in premium and charcoals in basic.
New York New York! 🗽
Thats exactly what I'm tryna do 👍🏾
I bought the premium yellow boot today. It's my 1st timberland boot , and I love it so much.
Buy the basics without the dark coloured cuffs.. looks magnificent and much lighter for comfort in the tropics.
I have had black full grain leather basics for 4 years now and they are one of my favorites. I have put a ton of miles on them walking they are great for plantar fasciitis. Just take the laces out and clean and condition them with saddle soap from time to time.. I plan on getting another pair when these wear out..
Always Liked The Soles On The Basic Timbs.. Over The Soles On The Premium
Can you slice up a timberland radford boot with sensorflex please?
The better value is the premium. Great vs battle
Thank you for watching again and commenting--I really appreciate it!
@BootSpy What about the Timberland Pro? I have a pair and they seem like a mix between the specs you described on the Premium and Basic.
Timberland Pros are more rugged and built for the professional workforce, so I imagine they're on par with the premium more than the basic. The basic has some issues. Thank you for watching!
@@BootSpy some Timberland Pro’s have synthetic instead of the leather ankle cuff thing. They’re about $130 so I’m not sure which is which. Timberland Pro vs Timberland Premium?
Pro is excellent for safety uses.
So they cut back on some aesthetic features.
However i have been EXTREMELY happy with my 2 pro boots
Both around 130$
They have been built to last years!
Composite toe is lighter than steel toe; but still satisfies the safety requirement.
Very warm for those cold nights;
And slip resistant.
The pros are a very good choice for everyday work settings.
I wouldnt recommend for anything day to day activities as they are indeed heavy. 3ish pounds each boot.
I have yet to be dissapointed in the timberland pro series.
I am looking to get them resoled for more life
I have owned both and both soles have lasted a long time.
What's you take on Timberlands being they are between $150 - $200 BUT with a cemented sole? Because you can always go with the TBC for $200 and get a stich.
Are they really worth it?
I’ve decided to get premium, thx!
nice choice!
Construction is the same... LOL
Rose Anvil's video cutting open these two shows a very different story.
Have to get the premiums and it’s not even close.
You always deliver a great comparison. Thanks.
For $30 difference, sounds like the Premium is the better value. Also hate the fake leather collar on the basic.
YES. that collar cracks, splits and looks like crap on the fake leather basics
So pay more for premium black?
I have been wearing premium boot for 14 years) They still looks pretty good)
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for watching!
Timberland Premium vs Timberland Pro’s?
Edit: What is the difference between Timberland Pro vs Timberland Premium classic nubuck boot? They look the same but for a work boot which is better?
Pros those are for professional work force
Thanks for your video. Definitely going with the premiums. ❤
I prefer the classics over the premium. They have a better color layout
if im a 10.5 in sneakers, what size would i be in timbs because i want the black 6 inch premium
Hey can you take a look at Urban Shepard boots if you have a chance, Ive been interested but reviews are pretty sparce
I'll have to check them out! Good rec!
I prefer the basics, they remind me more of how timbs looked in the 80's, idk maybe it's just me, but i prefer that vintage vibe :/
@Jerome Ari Spam
@Lawson Braxton Spam n. 2
@@matthhh_7848 of course they both joined 2 weeks ago
I got clowned for wearing the basics so I ended up buying the premiums.
@@Pg-ch5nb they foul for that :/.
Thanks. Just bought one pair, Premium 6in Heritage Cupsole. 😊 Hope they serve well and long with me.
nice video
I got both of them...!!
What is the difference between premium boots and double collar boots?
Are they true to size? I have wide feet but I feel if I didn't them my true size would be a 10.5 maybe a 10. I wear a size 11. It's perfect for most shoes but with boots I feel like I should have always gone down a half to full size.
I apologize for not watching the whole video first. You answered the whole size down thing. Thanks.
i found the opposite. i chose 1 size above my current boots. to each his own.
I just bought some and had to go down about a size too
Got my premiums for $140 definitely worth it
From where tho
The premium came out in the mid 70s. Kid in my middle school come in one day with a pair and it was a must have situation. Yes some kids were still wearing bell bottoms and cheezy nylon shirts but some of us had moved on and started what you now see as the street look even today. Polo , timberland. Adidas....they called it preppy at the time but really wasn't. Anyway I knew with one look that the timberland premium workboot was a classic and I wasn't wrong. Almost 50 years later.
Any thoughts on Panama Jack?
I have Basic one, and my opinion - its a thrash. I thought its a fake timberlands before watching this video.
Right they had me thinking my basics were fake as well I was scared to wear em for a sec lol 😂
You mentioned half or full size lower, I have a wide feet and usually need to wear one size larger on my sneaker. Should I order the correct size or half size lower/ larger?
I'd get a half size down from your sneaker size
@@BootSpy Thanks for the advice!
@Buck Yone I would I am a 9 or 91/2 and I wear Timberland size 81/2
I absolutely hate the white stitching on the premiums but I like the two tone sole of the premiums. You mentioned the white stitching as a great quality, but in my opinion it makes the shoe look really cheap to me…kinda how the sole on the basics leaves something to be desired & maybe looks cheap. Thankfully the only premiums that come with the white stitching is these wheat (or butter) ones in this video. I love the stitching on the basics. It looks way better in my opinion. It’s a much cleaner look to me.
I just got a pair of the dark wheat premiums and they aren’t as harshly yellow and have the two tone sole without the white stitching, best of both worlds
That basic boot with a premium sole, would be better looking aesthetically.
Man I was thinking that same shit
💯 💯 💯
I was able to pick up the basics for $50 brand new so it was no question for me. Eventually I do hope to get a pair of premiums tho.
Bummy
Every New Yorker knows you have to go with the hard bottoms. There's no comparison.
right
Welcome to NY.
What are hard bottoms
Wtf is a hard bottom
@@delwood707 the premium sole bottoms !
Basic is good for when ever you walk on dry payment. But suck for rain I learned that the hard way.
Would you recommend going for the premium?
*BASICS ARE WAY MORE COMFORTABLE*
Basic model better than premium model price & weight 🤘👍
The Basic is more lightwheight. 🇧🇷
True that!
I bought me the basics yesterday just cause they lightweight
yeah thats the benefit for sure
@@anthonyreyes2754 got me some yesterday
Basics are much lighter and thats because the sole is hard plastic and not as comfortable. The sole of the Premiums is a world away it terms of quality ,comfort, and traction but at the price of being heavier.
I have the premium and look AMAZING but are so heavy for my tiny feet hahaa
Its a midsole and outsole on the premiums, my guy!!
Boom!
“More expensive is always better”
Hi just wanted to ask you if timberland boots could be having any store I India
Double soul’s always
Premium looks better
Wdym by size 10? 10uk?
This fucking answered my question! Thanks!!!
Are they both waterproof ?
Always look for the diamonds
The diamonds? Wym...educate ya boy bruh 🙏🏾😎
@@airmaxair-max4993 the basic have an oblong pattern underneath the premiums have what I like to call “diamonds” underneath
@@str8toff bet 💪🏾🎯 much appreciated
If you buy any of the coloured versions all these subtle differences disappear.
Not me I'm 40 and since I was fitting I wore a size 11 and tennis shoes I always get a 10 and a halfAnd there's a perfect size if I went down the whole size my toes would be touching
the Premium stay waaaaay longer alive, thay are much better Craftet
People are gonna think I’m crazy but the Basic Timberland last way longer and doesn’t crease while the Premium creases like crazy. This is coming from someone that currently owns both and have owned both pairs numerous times. The Premium color also fades bad with time while the Basic doesn’t.
Premium all the way, no contest
Can you please help if we want to buy it in India
Sir it’s not a knock off it’s just a basic… knock it off!😭
Apply the medicine petrolatum to your boots and make them 200% waterproof !
You get what you pay for
Basics are seen more for sale in department stores and discount shoe stores to people who dont know any better and think they are getting Timberlands for a great price. in reality they are buying an inferior boot. The Premiums are much better quality.
Shoe carnival, Shoe Dept. 😂😂
I'm over 20, so the differences do not matter
Hey Buddy, MY SIZE is UK 11…. What size should I Order? Thanks in advance.
Timberland basic¡¡¡
🧐
Y'all better get the premium unless u bout to fix my porch🤣😂
Basics are for people who want to save money in sacrifice of quality. Can’t convince me otherwise tbh
no duh. premium is that is 💯
I don't feel this is a good review unfortunately. It's like a salesman just telling u the features based on the standard product brochure. I was hoping for a more "user" type of review where you've worn both shoes and can appreciate the differences. Weight for one, is a big big factor. Another is the difference in insulation. All mentioned by actual users in the comments (thank you!).
Wide feet = -0.5 size.
Normal = -1.
this is so true
the premiums are too ornate for a casual dress-style workboot.
Rule #1 no single sole timbs in my era yu would get clowned for wearing those we called em the girl boot .. also if yur nike didn't have a air bubble yu got clowned 2
Tragic that we have to dress in ways just so we don’t get clowned ain’t it?😩
Both of these, like Dr. Martens, are disposable fashion shoes. You are not going to resole them, or keep them for more than a few years. You like the way they look, you wear them out, then you throw them away. Nobody buys these as work boots. They are not safety shoes.
Could just buy a pair of danners for 200 dollars
premium look way better
This is the most superficial review I have watched in a while. It's 90% focused on the color of the boot, which somehow isn't the only priority when buying a winter boot.
Cut them in half!!!!
Oh sorry wrong channel....
Timbs basic are €120 and premiums are €220 over here. That's a 100 euro difference. I can't imagine the basics are $165, since in the USA everything is cheaper then in the Netherlands
I'm in the Netherlands too. I bought size 45.5, I thought I was supposed to go a size or half up. I'm in the process of returning it, what size do you recommend I get? I'm size 45
Seriously get the premiums. Take yourself serious.
Basics look better
Calzature scadenti vendute a prezzi esagerati.
Got my premiums for $140 definitely worth it
Yeah? Where from 🙏🏾👀
