I've been on quartz for the past 40 years. I never have any issues with them. Right now I use citizen mostly and I have four of them. I have a nice tag and a couple of others. My Tissot is even quartz. A dress watch. You do you buddy but anybody who tells me a quartz watch isn't worth it can go pound sand. Right now I'm wearing my citizen ProMaster land. Probably my last watch ( for now ).
There's a reason why it was called "the quartz revolution". Everyone was sick of unreliable and/or expensive mechanical watches. Back then people who'd spent a lifetime frustrated with mechanical watches knew more about them than most people today and they were very happy to ditch them and buy a Casio. Better still, buy 5 Casios for every occasion for the same money as that one junk Tissot and every one of those 5 Casios will still be keeping perfect time in 20 years from now and some of them might only be on their second battery.
@@WatchVenture1 There is a video on UA-cam where a Dutch watchmaker often assembles a Tissot Powermatic 80 movement and clearly shows the plastic wheels.
i had problems with automatic watches before in the cheaper end but after getting a breitling superocean heritage 2 i definetley love the timepieces! you shouldn't let this throw you out of the watch world :). quartz watches can be nice because of the low service costs if you decide to go with high end quartz watches but i just love the automatic movements :). Maybe you should look at breitling quartz if you can afford it! not as costly as a rolex and they are very durable after my understanding + great warranty
agree with you.. think automatic watches no longer be needed.. there is new smart watches taking over..Casio is also good. they have good watches also smart watches, and good quality too..
I have a few Tissot powermatic 80s. Day Date, Gentleman and Chemin de, They seem ok for wear. However, do look into casio Lineage and Oceanus. I found them a pretty nice, care free watch for the money.
All low end automatic watches are shitty. It is why quartz killed mechanical watches to begin with in the 1970s, nothing has changed lol. Why do people think that some random kid on youtube has discovered something new in automatic watches lol. Whether it's a Swatch, a cheap Tissot, a Seiko, Orient etc. All low end mechanical watches are junk. If you don't want to spend $700+ on a nice auto then get yourself a nice quartz for half that.
Even i am done with automatics. There's just too much to look out for. Had 3 Seiko's and one Ricoh vintage. All worked fine. Ricoh died though and couldn't repair it. The accuracy doesnt feel like a problem at start but slowly it get annoying. Why i have to adjust time every week or two cus it is off by minutes. Its a watch, it should be accurate period. another annoying thing about autos is winding them. And no buying a winder isnt a solution. many times the watch just doesn't get enough wrist movement to wind fully so anyways you manually need to give it a few winds every time you pick up just to be sure that it wont die in the middle. And the last thing, they are just expensive for what they do. Sold all of my autos and bought a quartz with day, date and 24 hrs function. never felt so good, just pick it up and go. battery life is stated for 5 years. Sorted on all fronts.
Hi. Quartz watches make a lot of common sense. But having owned a few of their models, I am surprised by the performance of your Tissot. While that particular type of movement is designed to be disposable, out of the box, the regulation and QC at Tissot is normally one hundred percent, and it should last for years. Besides, if you took a Sieko to be repaired, it would simply be much cheaper for them to swap the movement. When they state that a watch is "water resistant" , that does not mean that it is suitable for swimming lol.
@@WatchVenture1 It sure is, and then it becomes an addiction for some lol. If you want an attractive watch in quartz, check out the offerings of Frederige Constant, and Raymond Weil. While their quality is excellent. for Swiss made watches at least, the pricing is decent enough. All the best.
A real swiss watch is serviceable that movement looks like it is made in china... So many knock offs online... The only reason they dont service movements from china is it is cheaper to just replace them for 30 dollars anyone can do this themselves. You dont need a watchmaker. Just pop the back off take the stem out. Pop the movement out and slap the dial and hands one new one put it back in and you are done.
Nope, that there is swatch group movement whose factory service plan is replacing the whole movement because it’s cheaper to do so. China has no use for copying a Tissot or that movement. Big money is in the bigger names.
@@contractki11er What movement is it then? I have never seen it before. It is a time and date watch. There is nothing complicated about servicing them unless they are JUNK and cheaper to replace. I have never seen a swiss movement like this. Should be a 2824 but doesn't look like it to me.
@@martinblank-d2n Look it’s 2024 and you’re literally on the internet. There is no reason to be ignorant only the choice of being willfully ignorant. So go look it up yourself or go ask mommy if you can charge a Tissot Swissmatic to her card.
There is a Dutch watch repair channel that went through how Tissots are made. They are very cheap movements relative to others. They contain plastic parts. That put me off.
Try not to hate automatic watches, I know your experience wasn't the best, but these Tissot mechanisms are bad, for even less money you can get great watches that will last a long time, I have a thirty year old Seiko 5 that was from my grandfather and I still use it today. Some mechanisms used in Tissot watches are great, like the ETA - 2824, but the specific one you have in your watch is very bad.
Buy a G-Shock w/Tough Solar and "Multi-Band 6" - Tough Solar never needs a new battery and Multi-Band 6 means you never have to set your watch. Also, you can remove the Bezel/Bracelet of your G-Shock and switch it out to hundreds of colorways - endless upgrade possibilities in a true "Tool Watch"
If you bought it off the grey market then it was definitely a cheap knockoff. Every Swiss automatic is serviceable. You would be better off with a seiko automatic
@russellmiller8332 No they're not. There are a number of Swiss automatic movements that are not serviceable and must have the whole movement replaced if it stops working. The system 51 being one of them, the Tissot Swissmatic being another one.
