  • Jeff Jarrett reacts to Vince McMahon resigning from WWE TKO because of the lawsuit from a former employee
    This show will take listeners on a journey not only through Jeff Jarrett’s Hall of Fame career as an in-ring performer but also his time as a promoter and company owner. Alongside Conrad Thompson, wrestling’s self-proclaimed “King of the Mountain” will look back at the Jarrett family history in the sports entertainment business that dates to 1946, his personal accomplishments, and his forays into company ownership with the creation of NWA Total Nonstop Action (now known as Impact Wrestling) and Global Force Wrestling.

    • @misterslats
      @misterslats 7 місяців тому

      @@richardstanley7661 In the early 80's Vince kicked off his offensive to take the WWF across North America. In most territories he just invaded: paid local broadcasters to run his tape and then brought his live shows into the territory. There were only 4 territories Vince made big money offers to buy including Stu Hart's Stampede territory (where I've lived for 50+ years). By 1984 Stu had been in the wrestling business for 40 years and his wife wanted him to retire. What Vince offered was too good for Stu to turn down as it would set him up for retirement. Vince offered $1 million dollars to be paid out in $100,000 annual payments for ten years plus 10% of the gate from all WWF live events held in the Stampede territory for the rest of Stu's life. What Vince wanted was to take over the contracts Stu had with about 12 broadcasters in Western Canada and he wanted to have the access to all the venues Stu had. Vince also wanted Stu's biggest stars the British Bulldogs and agreed to take Bret and Anvil as well as make Bruce Hart a WWF agent for Western Canada. One of the first promoters Stu Hart ever wrestled for was Vince's grandfather Jesse McMahon in the 40's. All their business was done on a handshake. After getting into promoting Stu did about 30 years worth of business with Vince Sr. - mostly booking each other's wrestlers. All done on handshake deals. After 40 years of doing handshake deals with the McMahon family Stu extended the same courtesy to Vince Jr. on the million dollar-plus sale of the Stampede territory. Less than a year after the sale and some poorly attended WWF shows in Western Canada Vince told Stu he couldn't honor their deal despite the fact the WWF's TV show was now being broadcast on the aforementioned 12 TV stations and the WWF now had business relations with the landlords of all the big arenas in Stu's territory. "I guess you can start back up if you want," was all Vince offered Stu after raiding his broadcasting contracts, venue deals, and four top stars. It took a few more live events in Western Canada and eventually the WWF was up and running full houses in the territory. So Vince got EVERYTHING he set out to acquire from Stu without honoring their deal. Stu DID reopen his promotion and was even able to land a nation-wide TV deal with The Sports Network and in the absence of the Bulldogs, Bret, Anvil, Dr. D, and Honky who had all gone to the WWF he made stars out of a new crop of young workers like Owen, Pillman, Benoit, Liger, Sasaki, Kawada, Hashimoto.
      Of course Stu's lawyers wanted to go after Vince to honor their deal and figured they could win but Stu didn't want to jeopardize the careers of Bret, Anvil, and the Bulldogs who were all either his kids or married into his family or in-laws.
      It was just the dirtiest of double-crosses on Vince's part.

The whole “Austin 3:16” thing, along with the beer drinking, the raised middle fingers and the classic matches with The Rock, Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker, Bret Hart and so many others, I think, cemented his place in wrestling history. His WWE Hall Of Fame spot is a small bonus…my opinion, anyway.

      @@dhenderson1810 Pump your brakes, hoss. WWE is about to erase the person who built the company to its’ current position from history. That’s got nothing to do with Austin’s *in ring* legacy and that’s where my comment, clearly, is focused.
      As for the “woman beater” incident…Austin has 1 situation for which he was subjected to legal sanctions in 2002 and an accusation in 2004 from which no one was arrested or charged. Since that time, 20 years, no other women have come forward with any allegations of abuse. There aren’t any cases pending on Austin with sordid tales of reprobate intimate behavior, payoffs for silence and possible sex trafficking. Vince is on the proverbial bubble for all of this and if that woman’s attorney can prove it in court, may Vince get everything that’s coming to him…both in court and the wrestling world.
      FTR, NONE of this is okay with me. I find your insinuation otherwise to be quite disgusting. You should apologize.

Seems likely based on the complaint. Others? It is entirely plausible HHH, Shane, Linda, Stephanie, Bruce, Tony, and Kevin had ZERO clue about the specifics. Again knowing something was wrong and knowing exactly what was going on are two different things. I suspect that’s why HHH and Stephanie voted no to Vince coming back the last time. As for unnamed execs? If you falsely name someone in a lawsuit like this and it turns out you lied the person can counter sue and wreck the original complaint. Before cable, certain parts of the country could not see WWF in the late 70's or very early 80's. Jerry Jarrett is who I remember. Fantastic story teller. Remember, when Vince thought he was going to jail, he wanted Jerry Jarrett to take over.

I cannot back Vince for what he has, allegedly done. It truly is a sad time for pro wrestling with these allegations. But, if he did it, then he's got to be held accountable. And a big shout out to to JE double F JE double R E double T you were one of my favorite characters in the wwf 🤘🤘 thanks for the memories of some great matches

      Vince McMahon's dad was no saint, most wrestlers will tell you that, however, he was a mellow guy, who hardly ever raised his voice and Vince was pretty much that lunatic you saw on screen. I think he's an example of a wrestling personality who's wrestling persona melded with his own persona.

  • @Mr.Glidehook

    Jeff and everybody who kept quiet did so because of a very legitimate fear of what could happen to them. Between the winter of 1974 and January of 2000, I paid no attention to wrestling. Then a superfan got me interested and I saw the WCW and WWF in the most glorious year they had ever had. Fun storylines like Tank Abbott one-punching his way through the WCW roster to earn a match with Goldberg were priceless. Being snowed in and watching Kane get betrayed by Tori and walking out of the Baltimore Arena then being brought back by Paul Bearer to kick X-Pac's ass and piledrive Tori? Priceless.
    The memories, Rocky and Cactus Jack teaming up, B8g Show crying about being called "Jabroni" and the eventual defeat of Tank by Goldberg, Montana getting his ass kicked, these memories are still with me. It was a time when a new fan like me could go to work and talk on common ground with a friend. And I'm grateful for all of it. With my heart and soul, I loved and still love everyone i got to watch. And hey, don't we remember that sick storyline about Mae Young announcing her pregnancy and Godfather and Too Cool almost throwing up? Kurt Angle's suplex that caused Young to go into "labor" and give birth to a plastic hand? Sick as it was, I rolled. I couldn't help it.
    Then to now, I got out of it. I think it was because of Vincent's becoming more unhinged. I saw things after he fired you and the fans lost WCW forever. I couldn't watch anymore after the WWE's NwO invasion. Plastic storylines, plastic acting. And now, hearing how Vince was crazy with misogynistic sadism, how many lives he ruined is a matter of speculation because we can never know the whole truth. It's that big. For a long time I claimed that the franchise was Vince's cult. I'm not sure I'm done with the idea. All this stuff going on, and nobody talking? Didn’t make sense to me. But they HAD tried. Money kept me from the truth. Vince McMahon is evil, indescribably so. To all the great people who had talent and the guts to entertain us, I'm grateful. And I'm so sorry for all who have been hurt by him, his family and the backstage culture he approved of and encouraged. You're a class act, Jeff. Thanks for being honest. He can't hurt anyone now.
