Enjoy seeing displays. Gives a great visual of what's available without having to wonder what might be inside a box. Love the OPS stickers. Always like if I find a Lionel box with the OPS sticker. Gives extra attention to the era the item was in.
So True, that is the what makes the displays so special. They just have that look!. Yes, the OPS stickers tie the piece to certain time in Lionel's history! Cool stuff. B
I look forward to your new videos. I am not old enough to remember these but the Point of Sale advertising pieces and Displays are very interesting to see. Keep up the Great Work and Thanks for your efforts.
That is pretty cool. They sure did some awesome marketing back in the day compared to nowadays. Thank you for sharing this info to us. Happy Railroading this Holiday season.🚂🚂🚂
It's cool to see some of the variations, like it looks like it the catalog they had lighted lock-ons instead of the standard ones. I wonder if there are surviving examples with variations in parts
Good question, the ones I have seen have all been the same except for the dealer added OPS stickers. They are great display boards and display really well!. B
Yes, yes, So much good stuff in the works, keep putting that one on the back burner. Will get it back into the Q, Soon. Still looking for a few more pieces and a warmer day! (Yes, I will have one in working order in the water!!!). Brian
So cool! Another great presentation. They are a nice, simple way, to display your track offerings to the general public. I did find it odd, though, that the manual O42 switch had the insulating pins for the anti-derail feature that came on the O22. Interesting, since they weren't powered. I wonder if you could change out the manual mechanism with the powered one, since the basic switch is the same. I wouldn't mind getting a couple of the manual switches for my layout, where I don't need the O22 powered ones. I do have a handful of the manual O27 switches, that I'll be using in the yard, that I'm adding to the layout. An excellent video, as always.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Well, I believe you can use the switch as a way to cut off a block, so might be why it has the insulated section. ODD. The 042 switches are great for a small layout and inexpensive to find in nice shape. Appreciate the comment. Brian
We all know you are a collector of exotic, and prototype Lionel examples. We saw these display boards in your previous walk through at the train show. Did you pick these up from there, or are these examples from some of your friends? Lionel trains are quite common now-a-days, but train-related wood, paper, and dealer examples are not. I'm always amazed at the rare examples you find. Thanks,
Great question. First, I wish this was all my stuff, but unfortunately it is not. I have been very fortunate in my collecting adventures and am greatfull for what I have. Secondly, I love learning and sharing with fellow collectors the rare, unusual and oddball trains out there! So, I am so thankful for my friends and fellow collectors who have shared some of the coolest Lionel trains and dealer items out there!. Lastly, this channel had opened up a world of incredible trains to me and a few new friends, and has provided a venue for these very knowledgable, but private collectors to open their doors and share pieces that I didn't even know existed. First year of this channel had been fantastic, and I can't wait to show you guys what I have in store for 2025! Thanks and enjoy (and tell your friends). Brian
