    You make it crystal clear that there is no need to seek. More clear than any other spiritual "facilitator" that I have listened to. And I have listened to them ALL!

      Agreed. It’s like he’s actually trying to communicate and transfer the experience as opposed to shroud it in mystery.

    The peripheral vision idea works really well for me. The feeling that I am space is similar to Douglas Harding’s idea in On Having No Head, e.g. that from a visual point of view my body stops at around shoulder level and I just have space where other people have heads.

    Far and away the best pointer and guide to awareness and the meditation at the end works!
    Really appreciated the point about not going back to the mind to check if we've "found" awareness 🙏🙏🙏

    Thank you that was a wonderful talk and helped my understanding. The guided piece at the end was illuminating and took me to the stillness and then opening this to surround all the content , including my sense of self was a very liberating experience and relaxing. I will continue to use this , thank you Sam

    I was told that awareness is the "space between thoughts". Okay, I'm aware of awareness when I meditate and focus on my sensations - but I kind of am shrugging my shoulders. I find that I can reduce the "I"-ness by concentrating on my senses. What am I missing - it doesn't seem like a big deal. I certainly don't feel unity - I just feel blank and sometimes spacious. I've always attributed the spaciousness to a non chattering mind or less of an "I".

    This was awesome. Still need to work with it as center of experience has not fallen away. A sense of no distance and no separation is absolutely available. Seeing myself in two places at once. Objects of experience here and there really came forward by doing this. I’ll keep coming back to this. Any additional advice on the center less or dropping away of the center would be appreciated. ❤😊 Thanks, Sam

      I'm glad you found it useful :) I will eventually give some more detailed pointers regarding the experience of there being a center. Generally though it's very interesting to see how intimately the sense of a center is connected to the activity of grasping.

    Sam, my question for you is, is one alone having the experience right now, and there are no other windows of experience but ones own, or are we all these windows simultaneously?
    Your explanation helped me a lot. But I can’t seem to separate the word Magic from this. It seems like our true nature is mystical in nature.
    But is one alone, or are there others windows?
    Thanks!

    Thank you, Sam! The other day I noticed that the hand appears in the same space as everything else. Therefore, aware that the body/ mind is an experience of awareness. Like a simulation. It is still a bit fuzzy but I feel this may be a sort of non-dual realization? Hard to explain really.

    • @Sam_Gow
      @Sam_Gow  Рік тому +2

      You're welcome Christie, I'm glad it was useful! That's a great realization. Eventually it can become clear that awareness is not experiencing the body mind as some kind of observer, but rather that awareness is taking the form of the body mind.

    So the no thing that is always present and never changing is what is the non-duality . Or also called the ground of being . So now that we know what you are talking about is that the so called realization ?

    • @Sam_Gow
      @Sam_Gow  Рік тому +2

      The recognition of empty awareness is a very important step. There can still be a sense of duality, however, when we we separate this awareness from our perceptions. Non-duality in this context would be the further recognition of the inseparability of awareness and perceptions.

  • @minimal3734
    @minimal3734 Рік тому +2

    This may sound a bit strange but when I first experienced this, I was spontaneusly drawn to describe this shift of perception as a kind of voluntary 'stupidity'. I felt that I had to 'dumb down' myself to make the switch. The fact that I was a very analytical person might have contributed to this impression. I was surprised that this realization did not require any understanding or use of my intelligence, quite the opposite. It required to let go understanding and objective thinking and becoming 'stupid' in that sense. I still feel it isn't false to put it that way, especially if you are more of the mind heavy, analytical type. To be clear, with that kind of 'stupidity' a different kind of intelligence arises, which does not rely on the mind. It is a spontaneous kind of knowing without an obvious reason or based on learned facts.

    • @mikelisteral7863
      @mikelisteral7863 Рік тому +1

      your talking intellect vs intuition, but there is something even deeper than intuition

    • @minimal3734
      @minimal3734 Рік тому

      @@mikelisteral7863 It's a challenge to describe it because, everything we say is misleading. Intuition is clearly something different, I was already familiar with.

    • @Sam_Gow
      @Sam_Gow  Рік тому +1

      That's a great insight. We are so accustomed to excessively orienting toward thought that we mistakenly conflate thoughts with intelligence and the absence of thought with stupidity. Of course thoughts can be useful, but when fixation to thought is our only mode being, we are not operating intelligently at all. As the saying goes "thinking makes you stupid". When awareness is our way of experiencing a different sort of intelligence becomes available, which might feel unusual at first.

    • @mikelisteral7863
      @mikelisteral7863 Рік тому

      @@Sam_Gow intelligence doesnt exist. there is only patterns. the mind copies them and uses that copy to predict.

    • @mearss
      @mearss Рік тому +1

      I totally relate to the stupidity thing. It has everything to do with our conditioning. Eg when you were in school and zoned out while the teacher was teaching, you were being 'stupid' because you were policed to pay attention = use your mind = be 'smart'
