Two things occurred to me while listening - the first is that the coming upon the emptiness, the discovery of the emptiness, is first encountered experientially, and then (subtly) becomes a concept, which is then projected out. So one has to be aware of that: only the experiential - only the seeing of the emptiness has any significance; unawareness of this fact causes a split, and possible depression. The second thing is that the relative and the absolute are not two! Once this is seen there is a joy and and experience of the wonder and the beauty around one, the magic of the world! ❤

This resonates! I'm 68 and have often noticed that when a question arises for which no answer ever appears, there's something wrong with the question itself. Maybe "wrong" isn't the best word...I mean that the question doesn't make sense or require any answer. Cheers from Germany 🍂

Talking never does it, people get a hit, a glow, feel they have understood something profound but sadly it has no shelflife...so on it (the seekers treadmill) goes, onto the next new kid on the block, the new podcaster, which is great as there are a pandemic of so called awakened guides to remove the veil and entertain you...like motivational speakers. Just a mere suggestion; for those who are genuinely earnest put one's toys aside, simple sit and start to spend time in silence be attentive, watch your own personal movie... don't react or change anything..no need for podcasts, leave that for those who need pep talks and entertainment....silence is the doorway,.... to the beginning and the end.. at least it faces you in the right direction ......

Here's what I did. So many years ago I had an idea. Imagine there's a God always reaching out and I was the one that cut off, unconsciously. My racing mind cut me off. Since then I've said one version or another of I surrender to God, and also asked, "Who am I?" surely a million or more times. I did it to attempt to reprogram my own mind, if possible, to consciously reconnect to God. It's been years now and either I have brainwashed myself into believing something that's not true or I actually am connecting to God. The way this seems to be happening is God just takes all of my emotional and mental trash and guides me through it on some very deep level. And he shows me the world is not really real and neither is the me I thought I was. This has worked for me. Or I'm going crazy. It does dispel suffering as well. And the strange thing is I catch "my mind" now actively surrendering stuff to God on a sort of auto pilot mode without my consciously initiating it. And there is a growing sense of continual release and connection to God/source, whatever we want to call it.

Samm thank you, this is a nice message. I get pulled into thinking about the answer, though... Anyway, recently I have found myself able to become aware of thoughts, and thus aware of awareness. However, this causes thoughts to cease, and then attention is drawn to sounds, for example. But this leads nowhere, it seems. Sounds are another illusion, like thoughts, amirite? What would you suggest?

I have a hard time not identifying with the body. We still have to do that right? It feels stuck a lot and burdened. After I accepted it today I felt a lot better. I eel I’m worse off than others the suffering of being alone and long covid. Thanks

The peripheral vision idea works really well for me. The feeling that I am space is similar to Douglas Harding’s idea in On Having No Head, e.g. that from a visual point of view my body stops at around shoulder level and I just have space where other people have heads.

Thanks for speaking about this topic Sam. This is a discussion that needs to be explored more. Too many non-duality teachers emphasize no-self and the emptiness of experience in a way that can be very destabilizing and confusing. Your teachings are very valuable, and have helped me to navigate this change in a grounded way.

Moments of PRESENCE and SILENCE are Very Helpful...at least I have found this to be so.

They have to be INTEGRATED...both/and...in order to move forward. I don't consider it a "depression ," but rather a sense of "grief" based in feelings of "loss-of-what-we-imagined-life-was."
