    In this lesson you will learn how to play the chromatic scale so that you will be able to use it again and again in your solos to produce an amazing sound.
    This way you will learn how to fish instead of getting a fish to eat for only one day or so.
    You’ll learn all the secrets of achieving a very high speed of playing and a smooth sound.
    This lesson focuses on the rest stroke picking technique as well.
    The way this scale was played by Django Reinhardt became a typical Gypsy Jazz unique sound.

    VERY Great lesson. Yaakov (sp?) uses 2 fingers ascending. Descending, 2 1 1 1 1 etc, then you can use all 4 fingers in first position. He uses gypsy picking

    Thankx! Very cool! You play with 2 Fingers like Django, why you don't use 4 Fingers for the upwards Chromatic Line in the beginning?

    • @GypsyAndJazz
      @GypsyAndJazz  2 роки тому

      It's just easier for me that way. Try both options.

    Thanks for sharing this great lesson, Yaakov. I am not sure what to do with the thumb behind the neck when descending with the straight index finger. Do I have to press it against the neck or is it very loose? Is the thumb parallel to the index finger?

    • @GypsyAndJazz
      @GypsyAndJazz  7 років тому +1

      The thumb is loose and parallel to the index finger.
      It's a very good question
      Let me know if you're doing fine with it

    bit of an odd question: do you use a string lurbicant? mine tend to grip my fingers when I practice this run. many thanks Yaakov, you're such a great teacher!

    • @GypsyAndJazz
      @GypsyAndJazz  5 років тому

      I don't know what a string lubricant is, so I suppose that the answer is no :)

    • @jonwein6148
      @jonwein6148 5 років тому

      @@GypsyAndJazz thanks Yaakov! I meant stuff like ghs fast fret or dunlop ultraglide which I didn't get much value from anyway. I suppose it depends how "good" the strings are and how long you keep them as well.

    • @GypsyAndJazz
      @GypsyAndJazz  5 років тому

      @@jonwein6148 Mo I don't use these things. I use John Pearse Nuage Strings which souds great and last more than other brands I tried

    This is great scale practice from Django. I took your advice and found one of your signature guitars used in New Year on E-bay. You were right! It has an awesome sound. What kind of pick are you using?

      I'm so happy to read you enjoy my signature guitar!
      I use Wegen picks

    Thanks man very nice video.could you pleas give me an advice witch microphone is best for playing in bar and witch one are you using in this video?thanks a lot!

    • @yaakovhoter496
      @yaakovhoter496 8 років тому +1

      Hi James
      In this video is just the camera mic..
      In bars I would use the AER amp with a piezo pick-up like shadow nano flex or ERG bigtone
      Cheers
