Totally agree, Hayley is going to be a fantastic driver when she gets her licence and will know how to control a vehicle, not just relying on a computer to drive the vehicle, sometimes the old ways are still the best ways
Yeah I'm busy working on the patrol now for the outback, new alternator, front bearings rebuild, getting the diesel heater working properly from the snow trip last year. Can't wait to hit the road 🤠
Like your new mods great looking 4wd park interested in the meet and great we live in Adelaide but we are doing the Cape in August September and our first stop will be Beenleigh QLD south of Brisbane Aug 13 to Aug 17 maybe around that time cheers legends ☺️
Hi Addam, I have written to your channel before. I am retired but want to get out camping, exploring Australia etc and getting exercise instead of sitting at home in Airlie Beach. So I bought a 4WD wagon (small one but I can sleep in the back comfortably) and a Boston Whaler boat that I tow behind the 4WD. So basically, I can sleep, cook etc in the boat. My logic which may be good and otherwise may be no good is that "I can travel around, camping, use boat to explore islands and camp on islands, fish for Coral Trout, dive for crayfish and chase mud-crabs". Obviously if I went out west, I probably wouldnt take the boat. I just went on a 2 week camping tour. I understand about Wiki Camp-spots (my friend got all that for me and taught me how to use it) but my problem is I get scared camping in areas where I don't know the other people. These days there are so many crimes against senior citizens and I keep thinking the person or persons camped next to me could be cereal axe murders or want to rob me etc. Consequently I just keep driving and driving and only stopping at gas stations for quick naps. The other day I drove 1,116 kms from my friends house at Currimundi Lakes all the way back home. That is not good, I was sick for days. So, I thought, it would be better if I travelled in convoy. So my question is: do you have any good ideas? Are you going to start your Tug-a-long 4WD tours? This could be a solution for me. What do you think? Or are there websites where people like me want to pair up with other vehicles for safety in numbers? I am pretty flexible, I can come and go whenever I want. North - South - East - West. And you are probably wondering why I don't travel overseas or go on cruises? There is a good reason - I hate travelling overseas - I worked overseas (many places USA, Canada and SE-Asia) - on and off planes all the time - battling different cultures - battling airport protocols- living out of suitcases and hotel rooms etc. And I hate cruise ships where you are told do this, do that, eat now, go to theatre now, play Pool and deck games now, etc. Plus I have owned my own big yachts sailing Barrier Reef etc so I went where I wanted to on the water.. But I do love the peace and solitude of camping and hiking out in nature. So, a curly question that I pose, but you are always full of good ideas so a good idea here would help me. I wait to hear. Cheers Brian.
Mate sounds like you have a great set-up and I've never been overseas or on a cruise liner, with no desire to ever do it, I don't like being stuck on something with nothing real to do. I'd love to do tag-a-long tours for a living, but with the kids being young and helping out at home it's a career where I would have to give up a lot. As per your situation, it's really hard to find someone who can travel when and where you want to go with the same way of thinking and time frames, that's why we mainly travel alone. I think Australia is a really safe place to explore and the people that are going to be camped next to you have the same worries and fears. I'm no expert but I feel like you should do a couple of small trips close to home to somewhere with a good safe reputation and get to camp early, wait until other campers arrive if non there already. Get out and have a walk around, say hello to people camped near you, talk about there set-ups and travel and how everything is going. You might be surprised how much will open up and how similar everyone is. Once you have done this a few times it should ease your mind how the people camped next to you are just regular people and not to be afraid of. Once you learnt that skill you can meet people who may be travel to the same area as you and ask if you can team up for a short time until you meet someone else who if going to your next destination and so on. Just remember for every 1 bad story you hear on the news or social media there is probably 100 000 positive stories you don't hear, and you can't let fear rule your life Mate happy to share more if you need to talk, you can email me at goingoverlandaus@gmail.com and I'll get back to you when I can.
I went out there for a day trip years ago, and have been meaning to get back for a weekend ever since. It is a great place out there, and not too far from home.
Hey guys just wanted to let a couple of people know we are hoisting a meet and greet/camping weekend from Friday night 11th to Monday 14th at Levuka 4wd Park a couple of hours south of Brisbane. Be great if you can make it, cheers
Great episode with some sensible advice, as always. 🙂 Keen to hear about the meet-up/tag along when it happens. 🙂 I live in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney but have family on the NSW north coast so it would be a great opportunity to see them and meet the cool Going Overland crew too. 😎
We'd been there a few years ago and it's a great location. We were there when it had been raining and the tracks everywhere were so slippery. Great to see you guys having fun, but a shame Larissa and Joe had to miss it. Winton is so cute watching the cattle.
I know, larissa has been working too hard, so can't wait for our annual trip and get back on the roads. Winton is such a amazing dog, just to sit and watch the cattle, just have to get him to stop chewing everything at home 😫
the other park down that way is "the springs 4x4 park" near warwick the issue with a/t tires you need wheel speed to clean the tread out for traction the track you went on was slippery due to rain every track is harder in the rain.... i have done black hut road kenilworth when wet... lots of right foot and in higher gear...
Yeah it's funny how a little age and experience in what can go wrong can straighten you out. I wouldn't even look at some of the tracks we used to do, suppose that's the benefit of wisdom 🤠
Looks like a great place to have some fun and explore. Understand how Larissa feels. I’m also marking and doing end of semester report cards. Can’t wait to head away in 4 weeks for an outback trip to Lightning Ridge and corner country for the holidays. We’d be keen for a catch up.

Went to Levuka a couple years ago after some rain... turns the mundane into madness very quickly... heaps of winching, very close to panel damage... was a lot of fun in the end! Come up the Gold Coast a fair bit with the family... would love to come for a run out there again at some stage with a tag along!
Awesome I'll try and give everyone a months notice, so should be a great weekend 😀. It's a fun little place and enjoyed the adrenalin of having to run the winch, been to long. Cheers for the support 👍

Very entertaining episode! Looks like you had a good time with Haley and the dogs. What was it like for the dogs to drive all those 4WD tracks, were they relaxed or a bit worried? Cheers from 🇨🇭
Cooper was been on lots of adventures so he's great in the vehicle while 4x4ing, and Winton just follows his lead, so they didn't really make a noise during the part were we got stuck and had to winch.
I'm in Brisbane and would definitely be up for a tag-along weekend. I'm just starting in the 4WD/camping scene (I camp at the Woodford Folk Festival site once a month) and my young son would love to try it too.
Yeah mate it'll be lots of fun and good way to learn a couple of things, I'm still learning new things from other campers all the time. I'll let everyone know when it's on, hopefully give a months notice 🤠

I'd love to get down there, Victoria has been very neglected by us and I know it's got some amazing places, just need to find a job where I get 10 weeks of holidays every year 😉 😄

Have you got diff lockers , if so are they air or electric 🤔 and whats the best im looking at fitting to my 80series , i think electric is more simple 🤔
I have the front arb air locker, been in the car for 13 years with no problems. I think there is no perfect locker, each has reliability issues and can be expensive to install, but happy with the air locker and I'd buy them again
Wow Addam, grate video - you certainly tackle some terrible, tyrannical tracks. Braver than I am. I am interested in participating in your upcoming outback tour with seasoned and professional 4 wheel drivers. One question, I was looking on Google Maps to see where you are intending to travel to and for the life of me, I can't find this place you call Tagalong. Is it in Queensland or in NSW? Maybe that is the Aboriginal name for the area. Doos it have an English nane?. Anyway, I am very keen to get some professional 4 wheeling experience. Regards Brian.
Hey Brian, bit of a lost in translation moment, the outback trip is just our family holiday this year, the "tag-a-long" trip is going to be at Levuka 4wd Park. I'd love to do remote tag-a-long trips eventually but we are not set up for it yet. But I want the Levuka trip to be similar to a overland trip and will ask people to be self sufficient with water, rubbish, food etc and hopefully we can build up from there. I'll give a months notice to everyone who puts a comment in this video

@@GoingOverland Hi Addam, I was looking at videos of Levuka 4wd Park on UA-cam and on Goggle Maps. It looks really nice and there are many challenging 4WD challenges including water crossings, steep and muddy hill climbs and snakes. Is Levuka in Queensland or in New South Wales? I noticed on the map that Levuka Park is quite near Bald Knob and Woodendong. It is a shame I have visitors visiting at the moment otherwise i would jump in the car and come down for a fun weekend - BBQ, pizza nights, crawfish cook ups etc. My visitors are going on with their caravan to visit Cape York Peninsula. I thought about going up to the Cape also but I heard the roads are very dangerous plus somebody up there recently got eaten by a crocodile while fishing at the waterfall. Too much risk for me. But have fun at Levuka. Cheers B.
