What a great weekend making memories. Beautiful locations!. We love your style as it’s how we like to travel. Nothing beats swag camping and finding special spots that you can only get in with the vehicle. Way to go Joe with the fishing.
He's a great fisherman and he loves it. I've really liked the last couple of swag trips and I would like to all 4 of us in 2 swags, bet it'll be a massive load on the roof racks though 🤣
Cheers mate, I think click bait and dome and gloom just attract the wrong kind of viewers. I'm happy with our smaller but positive support from people I'd be happy to camp with. Thanks for watching and the support 👍
Great get away ,yes children do need a lot of things to do when away from anything electrical. It’s just a matter of remembering what we did when we were young & out camping with Mum,Dad,Grandad,Grandma & brothers & sisters. We were either playing football, cricket, swimming or bush walking looking for bugs etc. good on you for going it alone with your son,the best of memories . Elaine from Brisbane.
Thanks Elaine, Hayley is usually keeping Joe busy playing at camp, she's such a great sister. But he's such a beautiful kid, so proud of him. Cheers for the support and positive comments 🤠
Thanks for that 🤠 If I'm not enjoying the adventure because I'm so focused on getting a perfect shot, what's the point? Cheers for the support and positive comments 👍
I love what you’re doing. You’re actually keeping memories stored for as long as UA-cam don’t take it down or get hacked. Most of all your family will always have something to look back on. Congratulations on your success buddy. Joe is a natural. Go kiddo always be yourself. Regards from, Mario.🇦🇺
Thanks Mario, really appreciate the kind words. Family time is definitely something we all struggle with but taking time out on these mini adventures is a great solution. Thanks for the support 🤠
Love watching you guys, you are normal everyday people unlike the 100s of other u tubers, love all the adventures u share with us so we can see a part of australia we may not get to visit ,thankyou and hope Hayley recovers well
Cheers mate, she's doing really good now. Thanks for the positive support and I really enjoy showing what we do, as opposed to trying to make a living off it. 🤠
Your spot on there, it was great to do a father son trip, something that I should be doing more of, but love it when we can all go as a family. Thanks for watching and the support 🙏
Love your content. Its realistic camping for most people. Not everyone can afford the big rigs and top of the range caravans. I plan on doing alot of camping when I retire and it will be the simplest I can make it. Loved Joe's excitement catching his fish. Looking forward to your next episode.
Thanks mate, I think a lot of people forget camping should be fun, not a fashion statement. Less is definitely better and I enjoy not having everything, and making do with what we got. Thanks so much for the support and positive comments 🤠
Yeah I was a little nervous at first, but there is lots of places to camp there, heaps of spots away from the river if we couldn't find anything too. I'd love to be able to explore to south if only I could get more time off work 😩
A pop up roof top tent is a game changer so easy if it dosnt leak when down tho driving through rain , other wise beats a swag easy when setting up and putting down and very comfortable if u put a nice mattress in it u get a beautiful sleep and great veiws up there
Thanks David, but while the kids are young we still need to tow, which is why we don't run a roof top tent, just too much extra weight. Our trailer is like a pop top roof on wheels and is faster than the swag to set up. 🤠
It's a beautiful region out the back of Grafton and you showed us some great spots. Nice addition with that new awning and being able to recycle the old gear. And finally please send my love to Hayley and wish her a fast recovery. 🙂
Love it, love your authenticity. In regards to Jo, I have 3 boys aged 8, 12 and 24. It will get easier as he gets older. Keep it up, they grow so fast. Before you know it, he’ll be 18 and doing his own thing.
Spot on, time flies so fast when they are young. 3 boys! Bet that had its moments 😂 It's not so much as it's hard with Joe, it's probably more that I've got to make sure I do stuff he enjoys. Thanks so much for the positive support and kind words 😊
we luv ‘raw’ over the bigger channels that’s why we are subscribed That 270 awning looks ok, please keep us posted on how it hold up. How much does it weigh? Cheers
That's one of the best things, 18kg! So same weight as my 2 kings awnings. I'll definitely keep everyone posted on how it's going. Cheers for the support 👍
Yeah that's right, hanging Rock, I remembered thinking about the school play larissa was in. It was crazy busy there, but I can see why, it's a great free camp.
Good on you for reusing the parts from the old awnings. I've got the top of my old 2mX2.5m awning and use that as a front wall on my current 2.5X2.5 awning at times. I have the rest of the parts in the garage still and plan to use part of it so I can run the cover off the front of my Garage when working on the car or other things there. I love my car camping too, So easy and simple. Much easier than setting up tents and all that crap plus having everything right there in one spot is simple. Sadly I need the tent when the wife comes with me so one day a small camper would be nice. Have you had any issues with the gas bottles being on the roof? I would think they would get really hot up there.
No issues with the gas on the roof, but something to think about in summer, maybe I should add a vent🤔. But I'd like to get away from the disposable gas bottles and maybe get a 2kg bottle. Definitely enjoy the simplicity of the swag and look forward to the next adventure 😀
@Going Overland yeah nice mate. I keep my gas canisters in my drawer. I've had some say not to keep them in the car because it can get so hot in there but I ran some tests in summer before putting them in there and even on 40C days with the car parked in direct sun and locked up all day my drawers didn't get over the outside temp, the rest of the vehicle got hotter than the thermometer could cope with. The cans say store below 50C so I was confident they will be fine and have had no issues. The simple life of camping is what I love. I have my Pajero set up to sleep in the back so for me it is pull out a chair, the awning and a drink.
We did similar this Easter. Just pointed the mail where we wanted to go and just wing it. ☺ We usually book something beforehand for peace of mind that we have somewhere to park up for the long weekend, but not this time. But in the end we found a great camp spot. Something about the simplicity of swag camping that I like. No fuss and straight forward camping.
Yeah it's a little nerve racking not having a site booked, but there is always somewhere to find a spot to camp, and if a place is fully booked, do you really want to be jammed in with everyone? I really enjoyed this style of travel and it's what we did a lot of on our big lap.
Hope Hayley is feeling better. Love the camping along Old Grafton/Glen Innes road, it's an awesome free area with lots of places you can tuck away from everyone. Have you guys tried the free camping on Paddys Flat Road?
It might be the lighter one. It's only 18kg and if you want to live under it, it might be considered to small by most people. But for us it's the perfect compromise between size, cost weight and working with our camper trailer. So far really happy with it, no complaints 👌
Hi Adam. We were camping nearby that weekend and although we did not see you we heard the GQ horn toot on the way past us. On another note. How do you keep the damp /condensation from wetting the matress cover in the swag. It's happend a few times now that the matress gets wet. I'm assuming it's got something to do with a warm body on top of the mattress but the ground being cold. What have you found works best?
I was surprised by how many people knew us down there, it was great getting lots of positive feedback and support. Haven't had any condensation on the mattress yet, but we always leave the windows half open for air flow. Might be different when it's really cold, I'll have to keep a eye out for that. We also lay a tarp down first
Yeah I'm 6'4, so standing next to the patrol with a 4 inch lift and big tyres you don't really see the hight of the Patrol. I might change the brackets to get the awning up higher, but that can wait for now. Cheers for watching 👍
Thanks for sharing guys. I hope Hayley has a quick recovery.
Cheers, she is bouncing back great and she can't wait for the next adventure 😀
Love your style of camping and have especially enjoyed the quality father son content guys 10/10 as always! 👍👍
Thanks mate, appreciate your support 👍 Like to show not ever camping trip has to have things go wrong and mud boggings.
What a great weekend making memories. Beautiful locations!. We love your style as it’s how we like to travel. Nothing beats swag camping and finding special spots that you can only get in with the vehicle. Way to go Joe with the fishing.

Another great Vid mate, keep it simple just cruising.
Cheers mate, simple is definitely the way 👍
Always a great vibe in your vids. Thanks👍
Cheers mate, I think click bait and dome and gloom just attract the wrong kind of viewers. I'm happy with our smaller but positive support from people I'd be happy to camp with. Thanks for watching and the support 👍
Building memories with your boy, well done👍
Thanks mate, it is something I have to do a lot more of now he's getting older 👍
Love watching these family videos. Can't wait to make memories with my kids when they get abit older.
Thanks mate, you'll love it, so good to spend time together and teach them about the real world.

Hi guys!
Don’t be ashamed of being raw !
That’s what’s so genuine about you guys
Honest and genuine
Something others lack
Great videos guys
Thanks for that 🤠 If I'm not enjoying the adventure because I'm so focused on getting a perfect shot, what's the point? Cheers for the support and positive comments 👍

Cheers for that, really appreciate it 👍

It's these experiences that stay with you for life!

Easter is always crazy busy, but you lads pulled it off superbly... Well done
Yeah I was a little nervous at first, but there is lots of places to camp there, heaps of spots away from the river if we couldn't find anything too. I'd love to be able to explore to south if only I could get more time off work 😩
@@GoingOverland yes there's many areas down there, I did the Styx river region, which is further south, but equally spectacular
A pop up roof top tent is a game changer so easy if it dosnt leak when down tho driving through rain , other wise beats a swag easy when setting up and putting down and very comfortable if u put a nice mattress in it u get a beautiful sleep and great veiws up there

Tonsillectomy! Jelly and ice-cream!
Joe is properly hooked. He's going to have a great life.
Yeah he's a fishing nutter 😂, I can picture him buying a tinnie and out every weekend fishing.
Glad you enjoyed what is my local area for weekends away, plenty of awesome spots around Grafton / Glen Innes.
Yeah it is fantastic down there, so much to explore, just a shame it's too far away for a weekend trip, might be worth coming back next Easter break 😀
I raly enjoy your content and vids
Thanks mate, really appreciate the support and positive comments 👍

Thanks mate, she's doing really well now. She'll be louder than ever soon 😂
Great to see good old fashioned father and son bonding, unlike this clown world we live when in civilisation.
Cheers mate, I know exactly what you mean. People are forgetting how to be decent. Thanks for the support 👍

That last spot you were camped is call hanging rock and cangai beautiful spot to camp but yes on long weekends it does get very busy

Good stuff. Ya gotta have Dad and Son time. I got my memories but I didn't like the mosquito bites haha
Oh yeah mosquitoes and leaches are the worst 🤣 cheers for the support 👍

On the Clarence River? Yes it's a beautiful spot, but we'll never canoe there again, it was a disaster with all the rapids 😂
Awesome video mate. Drifta awning, is that the heavy duty or lighter version? I’ve been thinking about pulling the trigger on one for my GU
It might be the lighter one. It's only 18kg and if you want to live under it, it might be considered to small by most people. But for us it's the perfect compromise between size, cost weight and working with our camper trailer. So far really happy with it, no complaints 👌

Noice trip , One day we will do same.....
Cheers mate for all your support 👍
How did you catch a flathead in the river ?
Just a small sinker, hook and small pilchard. Joe has it down pat and knows more than me 🤠
I thought you guys were on an adventure in Alaska?
😂 yeah had the patrol express posted back for Easter. Cheers 🍻
Good joke,so a sensible answer would be appreciatex
great video just wondering how tall are you look huge next to the awning
Yeah I'm 6'4, so standing next to the patrol with a 4 inch lift and big tyres you don't really see the hight of the Patrol. I might change the brackets to get the awning up higher, but that can wait for now. Cheers for watching 👍
No way can u really solve a rubics cube or u taking the piss 😅
Yeah learnt how this year, Joe can solve it too now, it's all about patterns not logical thinking to solve it. 👍
ADHD 😂
😂 or too much sugar in the lollies and coke, but boys weekend means no rules 🤣
