They had 8 cards in hand and didn't want to waste a card discarding it at the end of turn! It makes a little more sense given the fact that they had Spell Pierce as interaction
I love playing against Conspiracy when I drop a turn 2 Cauldron, the number of times they play it through uptill the point they target with Reenact and I exile their Breach.... surprisingly high. Scoop follows pretty quickly after.
Yeah he was too focused on casting it on the breach the next turn but against a control player it’s always better to act when they’re completely tapped out as we saw.
Since most of the time Seth (or your opp) is always ALSO milling out their own deck as well as yours, as you can see from the game play, run "Turn the Earth" to counter this combo flashing it back on your upkeep to draw anything then pass back to opp to watch them die to their own mill. Also in black you can run "Cease" or "Blood Pack" to instant speed make Opp draw a card for 2 or 3 mana respectively plus Cease works as grave hate as well. "The End" also works just make sure to exile a card that is in hand so it forces them to draw a card that they don't have in library lol
This is such a cool deck. I like the idea of removing a go for the throat for a bitter triumph to deal with planeswalkers since you can always beseech it up in a pinch.
if anyone is interested, a cool piece of tech i found as hate for this matchup is Cease // Desist, both as a piece of instant speed targeted graveyard hate (if you're boring) OR as the cheapest (theres one other one that's 3 mana) card in standard that makes target player draw a card at instant speed, so you can kill them after they've milled both players out
A "locked room" case (in this instance, the locked hothouse) is generally a case where a murder or crime took place within a locked room, with no signs of entry or exit. An example would be a group of people looking for someone that's gone missing, coming upon a door locked from the inside, and upon breaking down the door they find that person alone and dead - but with no signs that the room had been entered, and again, the door being locked from the inside. I don't know how many occur in more mainstream stories - I'm sure Sherlock Holmes has likely dealt with one or two - but I know they come up a couple times in the Danganronpa series (I think it's more than once, but it's definitely at least once in the first game). So yeah, funnily enough The Case of the Locked Hothouse is probably a fairly serious case. 😂
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think game 1 after the opponent played quintorius you could have used kaito to make a token, which you could have used to bargain beseech the mirror for reenact the crime and combo'd off
8:10 I think what happened is that he got screwed by the autotapper. He had one card in hand that was 1 mana, either R or W, but he also had a spell pierce. He wanted to keep up the spell pierce, but MTG Arena decided he'd be better off with whatever 1 mana R or W spell he had in hand. Possibly it was even another Light Up the Night.
I best response is to main blood pact as your draw package, then you have a card which is functionally useful outside this match up and also you can cast it in response to the mill to take a win. 😊
Felt so proud lucking into a victory against this deck yesterday. Unraveler milled my goblin deck and himself to 0 cards with the combo, but I'd gotten him down to 2 life. Moved to full control, untap, upkeep, lightning helix, victory.

I've been messing around with the mono blue artifact ninja deck and the UG artifact aggro decks that play Glyph, Spyglass Siren, Filched Falcon, etc. I've been running main deck Hearses instead of the boat/hoverbikes, and they actually seem really good in the meta right now. They're only actually bad against the Boros aggro deck, since a big beater that survives wraths is, at least, decent vs. Lands and control decks. Edit: this crime deck isn't super common but Roots decks are. And the Djinn decks still see some play in the UW version. Plus, there is a lot of good cards like Memory Deluge in control, Dennick in Esper Legends, Mosswood in BG midrange variants, etc.
