Kenrith with infinite mana can also just... force a draw-to-death at instant speed. And do it again in response to anything they try to respond with on the stack.
Needs "Lost in the Maze" to protect your dorks. They get hexproof when they're tapped. And you can tap them in response to removal so they're immune to spot removal with Maze on the board. Much better than counterspells for protecting your dorks.
cute but an incredibly bad idea. might be better than the card literally called counterspell, but the fact that lost needs not one but 2 blue mana up to work makes it unplayable in this deck. this deck would like to combo on turn 2, and uses all of its mana to do so, which is why pact of negation is the protection spell of choice... that and veil, which is nice because it only costs 1 green, which is easier to come by in this deck that wants leyline of abundance on the battlefield
@@alaraplatt8104 veil is great when it works but it is only relevant against one color (albeit the best removal color). Pact is nice when you are comboing but I actually really like lost in the maze here, it's just 2 mana protect all your creatures for the rest of the game, which seems worth it in a matchup where you're worried about removal. Not really a reactive play most of the time I'd imagine, you would just want to run it out on your opponents end step t2 and have it in play. If they have 2 removal spells against your creature and you pact to protect from the first one, you just lose the game. In that scenario, lost in the maze still loses your creature but sets you up to have safe creatures for the rest of the game (as long as you can lose summoning sickness, something pact also requires)
Yeah, the mana dork mix in this deck is interesting. Sylvan Caryatid could be a good option against removal heavy decks. It's a bit slow, but the resilience might still make it worth considering.
Round 4 is the epitome of why I despise Dryad Arbor. It may be correct to play, but drawing it and having to play it out just to have it killed is one of the worst feelings
I feel like the real problem in game 3 against Tron wasn't the Dryad Arbor but the basic island. I get that Blood Moon is a thing but you're never casting Freed from the Real without a dork and if you're ever in a position of needing to cast Pact of Negation without dorks you're probably screwed anyway. I'm pretty sure you want all of your non-Nykthos lands to either tap for green or be fetches
I realized after typing this that Teferi exists, which makes it a bit less certain, but I still think you could run a mix of fetches, Breeding Pools, Temple Gardens and maybe Spara's Headquarters and be fine. Blood Moon would still potentially cut you off Teferi but that's all it does so I think you're fine with that trade
This. Also, in the original version I sent him, and he changed there are no basics. By time blood moon is on the field, you should have green sources out including dorks.
After having watched the whole video, I'm convinced you've been playing it in hard mode with 4 leyline of the guildpacts acting as dead weight / dead draws. It's almost never been useful apart from some slight mana fixing here and there. The synergy with Nykthos seem like wishful thinking in this list, stars really need to align. I'd cut them out completely and the deck would be more stable already. Sweet video though, thanks Seth for your work :D
Leyline of the guild pact plus bloom tenders make the deck more consistent. Nykthos plus leyline isn't a wishful dream. It's possible to see 7 mana on turn 2, and aside from that, it mana fixes and makes sanctum weaver tap for more.
you can, something seth just didn't realize. First game he also was acting as if zabaz could fly, which due to mana options at the time - wasn't actually a thing
Yeah, I think it's worth adding one, maybe two. The deck does need its mana untapped in the early game, but if we don't have the nut draw we often end up doing nothing for a few turns which would be the perfect time to do some surveiling off a fetch.
This actually kind of reminds me of the jeskai ascendancy deck from some years ago in modern. This looks a bit more resilient though. It looks pretty sweet
This deck folds to all of the most common forms of interaction. Whereas the purpose of Leyline Draco is that a single removal spell typically doesn't get the job done. It's about resiliency.
@@Swnkmstrthis is an insane and fingers crossed combo, while Draco colors feels like the more traditional magic in the “I play creatures and attack w them” sense (which I would consider much less annoying then a turn two, extremely fragile combo) I watch this channel for the deck building insanity, rest assured
Hey Seth, do you need a green screen to make behind you disappear like that? Sorry if it's a dumb question. Also is there a way to submit you a decklist to check out for potential play?
Lost in the Maze could be good to dodge removal on your creatures. Mostly a sideboard card but you probably won't get got by non-T1 bolt/push plays (and it makes dryad arbor better?).
If you aren't going against decks attacking your life, you should crack away to thin the deck. If you are playing burn or aggro, don't crack to save life.
I think that the one ring would unironically be good in this deck, as it gives you a free turn to dig for the freed from the real. I would swap some of the veil of summers for it.
Kinnan seems good. Basically does the same thing as Leyline of Abundance, except it's most likely to die to removal. I might have to add a couple of copies.

I'm only through the first game of the video, so maybe I'm crazy, but a bird/noble + freed from the real + leyline is only infinite green mana, am I missing something? Seth is talking about Kenrith like he can activate all of his abilities, but he can only use Kenrith to pump the team with green mana, then only activate 1 other ability on Kenrith. Kenrith seems like a really bad mana sink in this deck. I also don't really understand main board veil of summer in this deck, I get that the deck is fragile, but I'd rather play creature protection instead of a situational card like veil.
Took me a bit to figure out- can use infinite green to put counters on Sanctum Weaver, then break the loop by adding red with Birds and giving Weaver trample+haste with Kenrith.
@@draconocor or put inifnite counters on the Kenrith, then using a creature to give red mana for haste and trample, you don't need sanctum weaver AND another dork. My point was, during the deck tech, Seth is talking about using Kenrith as a mana sink for all of his abilities, but you can't do anything more than infinite pump and 1 other ability, unless you have specifically sanctum weaver. Feels like Seth thought you could make infinite mana of any color, but really you have infinite green
@@Its_McKennon yeah I get that. Sanctum Weaver works for sure but the others not really. I think it'd have been good to run some hexproof dorks that add any color- slower but more consistent.

Came to say this too. The "tap enchanted creature" ability is rarely used on Freed From the Real, but in this case it would've been game winning.
Hehe, me running to the comments to scream this into the void...
Seth won't do that because targeting opponent's creatures with auras is a crime. Seth is no criminal.
