ALONE AMONG GRIZZLIES

Swiss biologist David Bittner has spent the last seven years forging intimate relationships with one of the most feared predators on earth; the brown bear. He believes it's possible for man and bear to live side by side and to prove it he has set up camp in the same remote area of Alaska where Timothy Treadwell was infamously mauled to death by a grizzly.
Now, for the first time, David has allowed cameras to capture his remarkable relationship with these fearsome creatures offering some extraordinary scenes rarely caught before on film.

I'm ok with plush hamsters, dogs, cats etc, but how the hell did the teddy bear ever come about?? Now everytime I see the bear sitting on my bed I feel threatened..

What I find to be fascinating in these recurring instances of humans managing to live so close to wild bears is that the bears evidently sense that we are different and not just another prey animal. They must have a deep curiosity about these odd creatures---humans---and tolerate their presence as something interesting or even positive in their lives. Unfortunately we humans are the most violent species on the planet and too many humans want to just kill the bears as "trophy" animals.
