Zach..what i love about you is the family concept of your passion of metal/relic hunting...and good gosh are your kids growing tall quickly..glad you will have videos to pass on to their grandkids..time is flying..peace and health to your clan...
1853 Confederate soldier? If I remember history correctly, and I do, there was no Confederacy or Confederate military until 1861. Both my great-grandfathers enlisted in 1861.
My uncle and cousin used to hunt old bottles and they told me the best place to find old ones was an old outhouse!!! I have a few that came out of them!!!
The "dude" on the Australian coin is Queen Elizabeth II's father, King George VI who reigned from 1936 to 1952, following the abdication of his older brother, King Edward VIII.
Love the history of the war in America it’s what got me into metal detecting in the U.K. finding WwII finds then lead me to bottle digging some lovely bits coming out that area
I recently found a dump nearby to me that nobody knows about, so far all the bottles I've found have been 1910-30s. I've only dug around for about 15 minutes there too
Nice digs and congrats on your first 19th century medical! Make you up a couple steel probes, aside from helping you find privies, they will help you determine which way the privy goes so you don't have to tunnel.
Looks like everyone is having a good time, I was going to mention that the little bottle wasn't made in Savanah that's just the advertisement on the bottle, it was made somewhere else for that company
You guys need to come dig bottles with me in virginia and I'll come dig civil war with you glad your back videoing awsome always enjoy the videos congrats my friend and good luck
That's a pressed glass bottle from the late 1800s. The lip on it is part of the pressing. If the lip had been applied separately, then it would probably be pre 1850.
@@ZachByrd Happy to help. I became interested in bottles when I wanted to find a good one to build a ship in a bottle. A really old landfill will often have old unbroken bottles near the surface because they didn't have bull dozers or heavy machines to to do the work back then. Old ghost towns out west, like abandoned mining towns, usually have a place like that somewhere. But most old towns in any area usually have such a place like that.. I found one near Marinett by asking my grandfather if he remembered one. And he did. He used to poke around in it as a boy. Good luck.
So cool!!! If that lock plate has a pat. # on it , you can still look it up! Probably to an old trunk.I emailed you a pic of this lockplate, its to a large trunk!
What is a "breast plate"? Indian decoration, sash pin for a solider... I tried googling but couldn't find info. Love when Mom says "Those are your new shoes!" And the kid quietly responds "I'll clean them..." 😂
Hey brother... not wanting to rain on the parade, but the patent date on an item is not the date that it was made. Do you know how to tell if a bottle is hand blown or machine made? That's really the only way to date it unless you know the start/stop dates of a certain variant
Yeah, best to widen those holes I suppose. You wouldn't want to be remembered as that guy killed in a vintage pooper collapse! lol Neat finds but I don't think anyone would be able to convince me to dig a privy regardless of what treasures might be there. After all I already know what is definitely in there!
Zach, you came into my UA-cam feed yesterday. Liked you right off and instantly sub'd! I watch a lot of detecting videos. Chig, Bird Dog etc. Don't know how the hell I've not heard of your channel before. You're already my favorite.
Cool video Zach! Now here I sit waiting on the next one lol. Congratulations to Levi on his second breast plate. You gotta be thinking with two breast plates are the belt and cartridge plates there too. Good luck!
Zach I can't believe how much I think you are the male version of me. We sound alike have the exact same accent and the same hobbies. I feel like I'm your twin sister. Lol
Zach Byrd, new subscriber, North Alabama here. What’s its take to bribe you enough to take a guy metal detecting sometime? Never got on any civil war even with looking at all the old maps. Let’s trade I’ll get you on some Alabama long beards you bring me detecting sometime
That Australian was probably brought back by some US serviceman who was stationed In Australia or at least spent some time(and money) there. Depending on the date of course.
1853 ? The Confederacy wasn't formed until 1861. There was fighting On the missouri-kansas Border in the 1850s prior to the Civil War but they were considered Border Ruffians not Confederate
This is one of the most disappointing click bait titles ever. I thought I was going to see rare 1850s pontiled bottles, but once they dug up the lock I realized where the title came from. I would have been happy to watch this video as an average dig on a property, but the title made me too disappointed to enjoy it. I in general dislike how you tube forces everyone to make click bait titles just to get views.
My great great grandfather fought with the CSA calvary out of Bartow County, Kingston. Awesome show guys.
I'm glad you are happy and not down in the dumper ha ha
4:16 looks like a look from storage trunk
Looks like a blast
Good video, you found some nice old stuff. I've always found them to be rock or wood whenever I have dug them..
I get it smell the bread baking while your pinching a loaf the old days!

Thanks brother! And yes time moves too fast. Peace and health to you as well.

House pre-dates the war. He would go on to be a colonel.
You probably mean great-great- grandfather
Lol
Outstanding utilization of your built in child labor force! 👏👍
My uncle and cousin used to hunt old bottles and they told me the best place to find old ones was an old outhouse!!! I have a few that came out of them!!!
Yep. It's definitely a good place to look
Good to see you guys out hunting. About time for a road trip! Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thanks Festus!

Wow!!! Great find.💪
Thanks
Hey Zach , cool spot . Looking forward to your return trip.
Thanks man!
Love the history of the war in America it’s what got me into metal detecting in the U.K. finding WwII finds then lead me to bottle digging some lovely bits coming out that area
Thanks and good luck!
Good finds , especially the bottle, the old cellar may have old fruit jars probably doubled as a tornado shelter
It's definitely possible
Good Vid Zack !
Thanks!
Pretty good video the kids seems to be having blast lol
I recently found a dump nearby to me that nobody knows about, so far all the bottles I've found have been 1910-30s. I've only dug around for about 15 minutes there too
Dig deep
Y’all probably on the edge of a trash pit. Awesome stuff. 1800’s bottle is cool
Still looking for the trash pit
Nice digs and congrats on your first 19th century medical! Make you up a couple steel probes, aside from helping you find privies, they will help you determine which way the privy goes so you don't have to tunnel.
Zach, it's possible the piece of bone that was missing from the 'bone' was wanted to make a handle or other such use. Keep a diggin!
Thanks man
You need to come over here to this side of the pond where you can dig artifacts one to two thousands years old in your back garden .
No thanks. We'll just wait another 1200 years and dig what we have! :)
Looks like that lock plate came off a union lock box. May be off stagecoach lock bo
Looks like everyone is having a good time, I was going to mention that the little bottle wasn't made in Savanah that's just the advertisement on the bottle, it was made somewhere else for that company
Is that centuries old poop inside the privy? or just plain old soil?
Great video Zach! Already looking forward to the next installment!!
Thanks Shooter!
I found a medicine bottle years ago Dr wise.
If I had the funds Id get you kids some Metal Detectors . I could search that place for 20 years . Good huntin to the whole tribe
You guys need to come dig bottles with me in virginia and I'll come dig civil war with you glad your back videoing awsome always enjoy the videos congrats my friend and good luck
Thanks so much Mark! I'd love to come dig some bottles in VA.
Neat stuff

I think those were civil war knapsack buckles. You usually find several of them close together.
I'll have to check it out
Great video brother! Glad to see you at it!
Thanks brother!

Thanks man. A breast plate was worn by union soldiers during the Civil War.
#2 might be a work number a mine workers. Or store number for to buy goods?
Coin is George VI guys Commonwealth issue, greetings from the UK
Thanks!
The lock with a date looks like it’s from a storage trunk.
That's what I was thinking
Makes some good broth and soup with that marrow.
Is there any odor from the old privy in there?
Just smells earthy
Breastplate is an amazing find! Wow!! Awesome digging for you all! Great job! Take care- Char😊
Thanks so much
That is an awesome spot! Congrats on all the finds!
Thanks brother!
That druggist bottle is most likely 1900 to 1912.
Just found you through Brandon from Adventure Archeology...Enjoy your videos!
Thanks so much. Brandon is a great guy.

I usually go by the seam that runs the side of the bottle. I'll admit, I don't know near as much about bottles as I do civil war relics.

Haha. Very true. Thanks for watching!
I never thought a bunch of guys digging in a shit hole would be exciting.
Haha. One of the best comments I've ever gotten.

Dang man! Thanks so much. That means a lot. Which video popped up if you don't mind me asking.
@@ZachByrd Your latest privey dig.
Right on man. Well again, I appreciate the kind words. Part 2 of the privy dig should be out next week.
@@ZachByrd Wouldn't be nice if you could get a backhoe on those priveys... I'll be looking out. You're a good man. Remember, ONWARD!
It would definitely be nice to have one for filling the holes back in haha
Cool video Zach! Now here I sit waiting on the next one lol. Congratulations to Levi on his second breast plate. You gotta be thinking with two breast plates are the belt and cartridge plates there too. Good luck!
I dont know where all the belt plates are around here. They just don't turn up as often
If you hit clay in the privy ya shoulda dug past it..that was more than likely a cap and good glass could be underneath the clay
Once we hit the clay, we dug another 2 feet and hit it with the probe and nothing.
Need brush and spray bottles
Zach, What State are you in?
I'm in Georgia
@@ZachByrd Cool beans...I have family in Georgia. A beautiful place.
Zach I can't believe how much I think you are the male version of me. We sound alike have the exact same accent and the same hobbies. I feel like I'm your twin sister. Lol
Haha that's great!
That lock plate looks to be from a chest.
How can it be an 1853 Confederate privy?
Looks like the coin was used for target practice.
Privy = Outhouse? Wear thick rubber gloves.
Yep, we're digging in the pooper.
RM: Human soil is safe after three years of composting. No way to catch any diseases.
that is probably 1910ish bottle

Btw I constantly watch detecting videos and I’ve never found you til now. You randomly popped on my news feed. Good to see a southern boy like myself
Not sure why yoytube has been sleeping on me but I've been at it genuinely for 5+ years.
@@ZachByrd Let me know about my other comment for real! I would love to trade out some hunts sometime
I'd have a nice fire going and a coffee pot brewing...just saying...
The thing daddy dug that had the 2 and was fat maybe was a trade weight. 2 pounds?
I believe you are right

He lived here before the war amd also after.
@@ZachByrd okay enjoy the video good job 👍
I didn't realize the confederates smoked meth. wild. lmao.
To be historically accurate the confederacy did not exist in 1853. Did you mean 1863?
No. I mean that the house was built pre civil war and the owner would go on to fight for the confederate army.
Nice work ! Love the breastplate 👍👍
12PM on Wednesday...
What? You think we're ALL unemployed?
I gotta leave in 5min as roads clearing but icy now.
I smell something though.
12PM on a Tuesday haha. Today is Tuesday.
Why y’all wanna dig in the sh*tter? Wasn’t there just 💩 in there????

Unfortunately, if we don't market our videos, they'll get buried by the algorithm.
Hold the camera more still. It's moving so excessively I can barely watch. Sorry, I gotta exit out. I can't handle all this movement.
