I love that after Larry says let's do it at my office, Jason says "no that's ok" as if Larry was offering to do him a favour

The dialogue in Curb is so natural that when I watch too much, in real life, I keep thinking normal conversation are somehow gonna slip in an argument like this.
The best part is when they actually do cause you’re talking to a complete idiot
i hate to be "that guy" but the reason for that is because the show is mainly improv. the scripts aren't really scripts - they're loosely written outlines of what's supposed to happen in the scenes, what specific plot points need to be brought up, etc. from there the actors pretty much just say whatever they want, there's very little scripted dialogue. that's why most conversations feel real, and a lot of the time if an actor is laughing, they're probably laughing irl

“Nah, that’s ok, let’s not do that”😂
Jason Alexander didn't win an Emmy for _Seinfeld._ Outrageous.
Having dedicated far too many hours of my life to watching this show, I have come to the conclusion that Larry has never been wrong.
He was wrong on this one. Unfortunately Jason failed to explicitly argue that Larry was the one who carries responsibility for their meeting basically being cancelled last minute, whilst doubly inconveniencing Jason by still taking up a portion of the appointed time just to explain that the meeting was going to have to be postponed. Larry failed to uphold his end of the commitment for the appointment, even though there may have been bad luck involved. Jason meanwhile acted according to their arrangement in every way and it's in fact kind of insulting to suggest he drives over to Larry's office later, thus not only missing his appointment last minute, but also trying then to change the appointment to something more suitable to him, whilst just having wasted Jason's time.
@@JohnnyNatrium you present a cogent argument. I concede
@@JohnnyNatrium so when do anticipate making partner?
@@JohnnyNatrium The argument is only cogent if you gloss over the fact that in the beginning Larry did not want to go there but reluctantly agreed to. This changes things. Larry did most of the chore part of it- the driving-but due to unfortunate circumstances could not continue to meet. Jason's just casually assuming once again that Larry will come to his house the next day is arrogant and presumptuous. By circumstances outside of Larry's control and outside of Jason's control, the one meeting, has had to become two meetings...one meeting about the meeting and one meeting to discuss the plans for the project. Thus, the second meeting must fairly be allowed to be at Larry's since that is what he prefers. Once again Larry is correct.
@@etamommy Reluctantly agreeing to an appointment does not in any way change your responsibility to uphold your end of said appointment. He was never forced to make this appointment; he made this decision. This discussion that they're having at Jason's place, is not turning it into two separate appointments. It's going over to the person you had an appointment with - them having made the agreed upon time for you - to tell them that you can't have this appointment now and also want to change the appointment.
Larry could've just called Jason to tell him the meeting had to be postponed. The fact that he went over there anyway, actually making things more inconvenient for the both of them, was his dumb choice because it served no purpose but to try and persuade Jason into driving over to his place, because he just drove over to Jason's. Larry David was absolutely wrong and I hope you don't shirk responsibilities about appointments like this in real life, because it's gonna cost ya a few bucks down the line.
I'm guessing the joke here is that this is basically Larry Vs Larry so the argument is impossible to win.
A Larry divided against itself cannot stand.
Good call
Nicely said!!
That's funny, I called it George vs. George. Same thing, same result, chaos with no end in sight.
Well not really... because this is Jason Alexander playing as himself... not George Costanza who was based on Larry.
The idiocy of the argument and their stubbornness is what makes this scene funny. I watch it and laugh. My mom watches it and she cringes and says ‘I can’t stand hearing them arguing and arguing.’
😄😄😄😄
It's not idiotic though. Larry is making a fair point and Jason is being unreasonable.
@@exiledrabbit This could have been solved by him asking to do it at his place the first time around. The first time around he was like "oh I don't know" and the other guy said "do it here?" and he just agreed with no complaints. Then gets mad about it. The second meeting is a new meeting though. So it should be even. Flipping a coin would be fair.
@@onbored9627 even would be them both having to do the commute, two meetings one in each office is the definition of fair and even
@@exiledrabbit if you say so
I agree with Larry. 100% of the issue is about the driving. It doesn't matter where you have the meeting....nobody wants to drive. Larry did his driving, now it's George's turn.
You do realise his name isn’t George, right? :)
@@AssafHershko Yes sir, but i am not sure many people know who Jason is.
"nobody wants to drive." Especially in southern California. I love to drive (am in WA) , but man so Cal, uh, no thanks.
I hear you, but at the same time, what if Larry had driven to George’s office and not gone inside? In that vein I do hear George’s side as well, because they still didn’t accomplish their meeting in George’s territory
I wouldn't go to Larry's house. I'd also want Larry to come back to my office and have the meeting.
I truly feel what Larry is saying. I’ve found myself driving to everyone else way too much. Recently drove over 800 miles back to my home state, and everyone has this latent expectation for me to drive to all of them and won’t meet in the middle.
Latent is such a Larry thing to say 👌
According to Larry David at one of his live shows, Larry kept cracking up every time Jason responded with his "eh, that's okay" to his request so many times, that the daylight from when they started shooting the scene eventually became night from how many takes it took to get it without Larry breaking. You can see the time of day change at several points from all the cutting around they had to do in the final version.
That's right! And what makes it funnier is that even though it's obviously dark outside in the final scene in his office, it's still daylight in the outdoor scene right afterwards!
Wow I never realized it becomes night in this scene!

I will never forget the first time I actually got a meeting request to talk about a upcoming meeting, we discussed the EXACT same nonsense that we talked about later on the actual meeting.
Sounds like living in a Co-op!
6 months to get to a discussion.
I work in africa… it’s so painful and common to have meetings to discuss when to have the meetings.
I once had a client, it was a Zulu college, I met with them 6 times over the course of a year… each time, I documented items I needed to start the project… and at each meeting, the information wasn’t done.
So, we would set another date, and would have to re-convene.

Imagine Larry trying to have a meeting on Zoom
One of the times where Larry is actually being the reasonable courteous one. Jason should have had the courtesy to return the favour and go to Larry's
Larry is almost always the reasonable one... It is the society that is illogical.
But the plan wasn't accomplished.
It wasn't George's fault they didn't have a meeting.
@@abacab87 It definitely is though, because instead of having the meeting, George made the meeting about not having the meeting and doing the meeting tomorrow. They could have just had the meeting
@@vivekanand5563 I think that's two-thirds of the premise of every episode. Larry has a reasonable thought. Society acts illogically. Larry's frustration with how society acts makes him do very inappropriate and stupid things that everyone can react to.
Watching this on a DVD box set in the mid aughts, laughing uproariously, and revisiting it two decades later is beautiful
This actually turned into at the end a meeting about a meeting about a meeting.
I love how Jason low key looks around and says, "This works."
This reminds me of my wife's former supervisor: whenever there was a company meeting on the agenda, he would gather his staff for a pre-meeting to strategize about what they were going to discuss in the company meeting, then they would all attend the company meeting, and then he would hold a post-meeting to talk about what they had discussed in the company meeting. The man could easily fill his entire eight hour day with nothing but meetings and never actually do a lick of work.
Very funny!!!
