    Me Setting Up This Tank: ua-cam.com/video/mb-CV-OEFS4/v-deo.html

    Many of you pointed out a mistake in the previous video that I got away with in this video: Never do the mixing of salt and water in the aquarium even if there are no fish inside. The sand I added in was live sand and adding in freshwater basically killed all the living organisms in the sand and set me back further in the cycling process.

    You picked the wrong light and wavemaker. I mean if its sponsored, you should've gone with better ones lol. I'll definitely go for at least a Aqua Illumination Prime HD or if possible a Hydra HD26 for that setup. Wavemaker also go with either Aqua Illumination or Vortech MP10.
    You made a good choice with the magnet scrubber though. Tunze is awesome. :)

      I'm the true embodiment of a beginner who hasn't yet differentiated between products brands. I was concern over what equipment is needed and what size as opposed to the brand 😅

      @@SGBeardedAquarist Haha don't say that man. We all gotta start somewhere. In marine, there's a famous saying - you buy cheap, you buy twice. This doesn't apply to you as you're obviously sponsored. Haha.
      Looking forward to your future videos. I'm positive that you'll do good. Keep the good stuff coming bro. Cheers. :)

      Hahaha based on my experience, that saying is applicable to freshwater as well, just less painful when you buy twice. And I wouldn't use the word sponsored, more like they are paying for their own display tank and I'm just there to play with it for my own and everyone's learning and fun 🤣

      Relative to freshwater, it is not as easy. With research, its easy. The difficulty just shifts to the research haha

    Nice knowledge for 1st timers on marine tanks. Just one question, can we use dechlorinated tap water just like we do for freshwater tanks?

    • @SSirloiNN
      @SSirloiNN 4 роки тому

      Yes, in fact that's what a lot of people do to save on costs, myself included.
      Just remember to add salt lol

    • @SGBeardedAquarist
      @SGBeardedAquarist  4 роки тому

      I thought it has to be RO water. Or is that only for corals or can corals survive in dechlorinated tap water as well?

    • @choonhweeyap1907
      @choonhweeyap1907 4 роки тому

      Cool. So is it correct to say that equipment wise, the difference between a freshwater tank and a marine tank without corals is only the skimmer?

    • @SSirloiNN
      @SSirloiNN 4 роки тому

      @@SGBeardedAquarist Well, RO water (Reverse Osmosis/Deionised water) is the best choice in terms of cleanliness as the water gets heavy filtered, ridding the water of nutrients like silica which brown algae depends on.
      However, it is not necessary if you are willing to spend a little more time on water changes and tank husbandry. Another way is to use sea water but there's no guarantee that it will be free of foreign parasites and pathogens as well as it being really expensive in the long term.
      Dechlorinating tap water is the cheapest and easiest method for hobbyists, only thing you might have to adjust is pH depending on your tap water parameters.

    • @SSirloiNN

      @@choonhweeyap1907 Light is very important too. Ordinary freshwater lights aren't gonna cut it for the growth and coloration of corals. The kessil tuna blue should be the standard for lights.
      Chillers are also important especially for a hot country like Singapore. An inexpensive method to cool water is using a fan but that evaporates the water really quickly and you would have to add water a lot more.
      Wavemakers aren't mandatory but quite useful for circulating the water.
