Is AoS really that much cheaper than 40k, or are we dealing with two factions with just excellent starter box/entry points? Possibly both? Looking forward to see the next one! Personally curious about Seraphon.
I believe the point per model is much higher in AoS than 40K. I was looking to get a Sisters of Battle Army, but when I realised the amount of models and tanks I needed to 2k points, compared to my planned Blades of Khorne list, I said "yeah no thanks". I'll get 2,000 points of BoK for about 460 pounds.
Age of Sigmar is just much cheaper as the points levels are higher per model, and personally, I love it! Less money needs to be spent and also easier to paint 😆
The prices for boxes are fairly similar, however most AoS units just cost more points. A good example is the weakest melee, cadians are 65points, skinks are 100 points and they do the same job.
Still couldn't believe I got the Dominion box for 50% off. Never played a single game of AoS. Used all the orcs for our dnd games, also bosses and generals. Same w/ the Stormcast, they just became a npcs, guild leaders, shop keepers. Units from that box appeared in our dnd games for over 3 years. Great box.

Stormcast can get even cheaper with all the big boxes out there containing them. There are some amazing deals to be had. The Stormcast half of dominion goes for 60 euro. The Stormcast half of skaventide 65. Stormdrake guard is 33 euro with stormbringer. Vanquishers are 22 with stormbringer. Chariot is 11. Ofcourse stormbringer wont be available forever but quite a few people have been hoarding them for ebay reselling, meaning there will be a market of heavily discounted stormcast for a while. The second hand market is also flooded with new on sprue stormcast because they are in so many combination boxes. You can easily field a good army for less then 250 if you are willing to dig around a little on the internet.

I have two aos armies and two 40k armies and I dont plan on getting a new army any time soon. Will I still watch this video and then stare at models like the celestant prime trying to convince myself I need a 5th army? Of course I will.
I’m loving the AOS coverage so few channels do anything decent but I guess if the views aren’t there the same as 40K it makes sense. I cant stand the porta potty, i found a used painted realmgate on ebay for £45, going to stick it on the appropriate size base to proxy as the stormcast toilet. Its already been painted in my army colours (red and cream) so i dont even have to really do any work except add more highlights if i feel like it.
So, first, I love the video, you guys did a great job and I do hope we meet that threshold. AoS is the better Warhammer and I want more people to know that, so rest-assured, Ill do my part to help. Second, you posted this on the *perfect* day, a day where I am physically incapable of quibbling on a lot of the small details and idiosyncratic points I usually call attention to. So I'll keep my thoughts to just the big stuff: I think that you made some overall good picks. Though I think the final list is a bit light on bodies and/or speed. So, maybe instead of the extra Annihilators, a box of Stormstrike Palladors. They're only a few dollars more than the box of multi-part Annihilators, and you get some bigger Cavalry models out of it for some visual variety. Plus, it would add some much needed speed to this starter force. Because the Infantry in Stormcast is SLOW.(Annihilators especially) I'd have also added some Vigilors for shooting, because Stormcast has wanted shooting in the past, and Vigilors are the only dedicated shooting unit that aren't going to get discontinued for a refresh in 3-6 years time. Finally, to be perfectly honest, you were right not to include or put much stock in the Stormreach Portal. I still maintain that Gnawholes are integral to Skaven gameplay, but the Portal is *at best* a nice to have unless you play an Army of Renown which gets rid of your army wide "half your units get to Deep Strike rule" if you play it.
These are some great points, thanks so much for taking the time to write them! ✍🏻 Really interesting point on speed actually, I think annihilators you'll probably deep strike anyway because you're absolutely right, the lack of speed is atrocious. I suppose the quick 1-2 punch of Yyndrasta and the Chariot is enough ground covered to create a meat screen for anyone to deep strike behind IF it needs it.

I bought a bunch of stormcast second hand not knowing that they were all going to legends. Was super chuffed I'd be getting into the hobby so cheap only to find my mass Sequitor and Castigator spam wouldn't be usable. A bunch of the monopose units are the same as the ones they use in Underworlds though so I'm getting some value at least.

The Lord-Terminos and Reclusians are nasty work together too! I played a Stormcast mirror, charged my Krondys into them and they killed him before he even got to fight 😂 Fights first and they did 16 mortal damage and 4 damage got through armour saves. Rip.

Clearly Kierans' army was the best. Not going to say which Kieran, but one of them did a passable list full of contrast metallics and/or streaking grime.
My cromment is more of a cromplaint: in your intro graphic Kieran has lighter hair than Kieran, when in reality it's KIERAN's hair that is lighter than Kieran's. I request that you update Kieran's hair to be darker than Kieran's. Please and Thank You.

Really cool list, but cannot do a third set of rules. Hard to even add Kill Team Rules with 40K, why are they so different… I want to buy AoS models just to have cool models to paint. Like to watch these though. Slaves of darkness sounds fun, or those cool looking orks with armor. boars and wyverns
One thing I will say is I laugh everytime people think Australia has it super tough, lol. Having lived and worked in Australia for 4 years, my wages were insane compared to the uk lol. This army is less than a weeks wage was 😅
Honestly, as a Stormcast player, the terrain is so disappointing. They could have done all matter of creative things; they could have leaned into the Ruination Chamber and Morrda, and done a cool Morrda altar, or even some kind of cool lightning thing which would have offered cool painting opportunities.
All faction terrain costing no points is one of the things in AoS that bothers me the most. It feels like you MUST buy, build and paint your army's terrain piece. Otherwise, you would be giving up a free advantage. But I do not want to buy, build and paint a terrain pieces for all those armies. And having the same building show up in every single battle is silly anyway. Fingers crossed for this video making a good showing, btw.
Its a strange one, our friend group allows any sort of proxies purely to avoid that conundrum. I understand AoS is a much lower price point in comparison to other systems, but even so its madness to spend £50 on a 'free' piece.

Yeah AoS is a fair bit cheaper. The spearhead (combat pattol equivalent) box price is generally 12% lower, but I think it's starting to catch up.

I've seen a few games with the poopination chamber and it can be utilized pretty well even if it's a bit underwhelming.

Tbh if your gaming bud buds won't let you proxy them as other units you need new friends. You've got models that you like, that is enough!
