What I love the most about Pavarotti is that as amazing as he was he could have been an arrogant S.O.B. and gotten away with it because of his talent. In fact though he was kind, humble, and genuinely fun to be around and work with according to other singers. I love too that he was not "above" performing with pop musicians like Bryan Adams, James Brown, and others. What a great talent and great human being.

I don't think there will ever be another Pavoroti! This particular performance illustrates his brilliant enthusiasm to perform, Pavoroti virtually leaps on the stage and his expressions during this opera are priceless. His ability to moderate his voice into softness is incredible. I think his voice is remarkable beyond words. There may be someone come along that can belt this piece out but I doubt seriously that they will accomplish same with Pavoroti's brilliance!
This is outstanding!!! I love Pavarotti's voice since I was a kid. Now, I been learning how to sing and how to control my voice and visiting Pavarotti again is mind blowing! He is SINGING! What I mean by that is, that in classical music you mostly use your chest voice to push your notes above the orchestra. They don't use "short cuts" like falsettos or nose placement or microphones. He was a tenor with a high tone and perfect control and agility. The way he finishes with that fabulous run and that high with your chest voice is GOD level! And at 29 years old he was just at the door step of his prime!

He nails this of course, and it is a treat to see young Luciano. But I think he improved over the next 25 years. His top notes became richer and his phrasing more fluid until age and obesity eventually caught up with him. Such a genius though, for all time. Bravissimo!
