This is why a physics professor should teach finance. Amazing and simple. I'm also a professor, so I wonder, how I'm going to manage my finance while my life goal is to solve relativistic quantum mechanics!! I felt simple about money, truly eye-opening. At least, I'll put some money in some saving pockets. I believe, this advice should be given to retired parent who should take care of financial goals of their working kids.
I plan to set 4% returns for throughout years, for worst case. Also I would like to earn (work) throughout life, even after official retirement. So I can be relaxed in investment. Retirement is a sin.

Thanks for your kind video on my request sir.I have shortlisted 6 goals(Retirement,2 Kids UG,PG,Marriages) and selected single portfolio(Nifty 50,NN50,PPF,Liquid funds) and planning to use the different folios for separate goals. The issues which i am thinking is,
    1. Large amount to invest as you mentioned already.
    2. Mapping different folios to different goals and investing bit work than a single portfolio.
3 folio X 6 goals = 18 folios. and Need some extra care while investing for the correct folio number for the mapped goal.

      Reduce it to three goals
      Retirement
      UG+PG+ mariage for each child

@@pattufreefincal One clarfication sir, if i combine UG+PG+ Marriage goals in to Single goal for a child,
Then i need to sum-up the current cost of UG,PG and Marriage and start planning as single goal.
Again for withdrawal of each goal corpus its again act as Unified portfolio right ? Correct me if i am wrong.

@@kalaivanivenkatachalam8460 Yes, but you can simply treat it as a single goal for now and as time progresses plan how to allocate for PG and marriage after UG expenses become clear
Of course at the time of UG joining most of the most money should be in debt

@@pattufreefincal ,, then how can we use that calculator. today i have joined your face book group Goal based portfolio mgmt and also enrolled Lectures also.. at present watching those videos also... thank u very much sir..... i have posted the same question on asan ideas group also... about how to use that calculator ... as of now no one has replied
      Following is my doubt,
Anyone using freefincal website tool for variable asset allocation.....i have a doubt...anyone having user guide for the same. As per my understanding, this is the tool which is used to find out how much monthly investment required for the set asset allocation in
      1.equity,
      2.taxable fixed income and
      3. tax free fixed income
      Say My desired portfolio is
      60:40. - first 4 years
      40:60 - from 5th to 8th year
      20:80 -from 8th and and 9th year
      0:100 from 10th year
I will enter the expected return values in each asset class in the tool and "click the macro to run " to find out how much monthly investment reqyired for the subsequent years. Now my question is
Suppose in my second year begining i will calculate the previous year actual equity and debt ratio in my portfolio as well as the actual return (XIRR, assume actual return i got negative in equity) in each asset class and then i will do rebalance again and keep the desired allocation back to 60:40 and then i will entrr the actual XIRR return i got in the 1st year in the sheet again click "macro button" find out present (from second year on wards how much monthly allocation that i should maintain the the same 60:40 )
Then in my third year, i will calculate how much my portfolio actual equity:debt ratio and then portfolio actual return in the second year (XIRR ,assume that once again the portfolio returns are negative) ,i will do the rebalance again and maintain same 60:40 ratio and then again i will enter the actual return (negative return)which i have got in the second year then click the MACRO Button to run the macro and find out the monthly investment required for the 3rd year...
obviously the monthly investment required will be more than that of the investment required in the previous year i have calculated earlier, since the negative return in the previous year .....

One more situation, suppose while i doing this in some yaar if the situtation comes tht i need the decrease the Equity exposure after rebalancing for the next year, how can i do it ... can i pause the SIP ? ... how is it possible ?. if that is the case and again in the next year if the situation comes to increase the equity exposure , then should i have to restart the SIP again ?
all th above scenerio is possible is i should not do SIP.. if i am doing manual investing yes all these are possile.. supppose if i am doing SIP how is it possible ? how can i do this ? or my understanding is wrong ?
Is that my understanding is correct or not ... please do clarify my doubt...
Attaching pictures of the snapshot of the sheet after did the rebalance and entering negative return.
Like this i need to proceed ?

Namaskaram Pattu, My portfolio is a 50% : 50% allocation. All my equity exposure is in direct equity, so how do I create separate portfolios?

    • @pattufreefincal
      @pattufreefincal  4 роки тому

Namaskaram. You will have to first decide suitable asset allocations for different goals. If you can handle them all with 50:50 then you can go ahead else you will have to at least mentally create compartments
