Making the SAME environment in Blender and Maya, here are my thoughts.

- I recreated the same 3D environment in both Blender and Maya to determine which software is more efficient for environment design. After years of working with Blender, I had to switch to Maya during my 3D Animation Design course at Méliès College. But was it worth it?
Find out the differences, advantages, and challenges of each software in this video!
About the renders at the end of the video:
A. Blender
B. Maya

🚀 Thanks for being part of this journey.
Stay creative!
haha! the way he said "but maya is the industry standard"😂😂
That’s something that I hear a lottttt! 🤣
UUU a Portuguese 3D artist noiice! Boa sorte mano!
Obrigado irmão! Isso motiva imenso! Grande abraço! ✨✨
My teachers said that it also includes gemotery nodes in maya by naming something bifroat graph
bifrost
That’s true indeed! I still didn’t have the opportunity to use it but I want to try!

I'd be curious on the Maya rigging process. I learned 3ds Max first, used Blender at home, and now use all 3 at work. My background is in more real time work though.
Also, once you learn one 3d program, the others become easier. The only real difference you'll see is when you get to parametric modeling like in Houdini and using Blender's geometry nodes.
Also, see if your school has access to Mari. I know that tends to get used in animation production environments.
I’ll be completely honest-I’ve never rigged in Blender, but I have in Maya. Rigging is a real pain, and I didn’t enjoy it at all. But maybe one day, I’ll make a video diving deeper into it. Thanks for your support!
Good luck for your channel ❤ Good stuff
I really appreciate your support ✨✨✨
people gets mad at me when i say "blender is easy". i say that because of my transition to working in the industry using zbrush, Maya and some other stuff like nuke and topogun
Great video! Keep it up
Thanks a lot! ✨
Great video bro. Just subscribed, hope to see more informative Videos in future. As a maya artist I'll be waiting for your maya related videos and tutorials.
Oh gosh, I really appreciated man! ✨
Please talk about the short film behind the process not bts but Pre Production. Like how should I make the storyboard how to choose color or things to keep in mind while making the videos.
Honestly, that’s my favorite part of the process. I will make a video about it! Thanks for your support! ✨
@Piscothe3dguy do cover every part of lost production. Thank you.
Would Maya be this hated and Blender be so loved, had Blender never been an open source tool ?
That’s a really good question! I’m making a short talking more about that if you would be interested! 👀
Definitely not, no one would care about Blender or make a cult out of it if it wasnt open source, FOSS stuff tends to attract very toxic, preachy hipsters (just look at Linux lol). No one would be simping for Blender cuz it's horrendously inferior to everything else, also pros dont care about this at all, it's just freelancers and hobbyists making these brigades against Autodesk and other proprietary products
Maya is way easier lol
this was so cool! you should do a modelling comparison when you get the time :>
I will, but I can say in advance that it’s almost the same!
But I will, thanks for your support! ✨
i think its only about which softaware u practiced more ....both are really complicated
I think that the lack of tutorials explaining how to make things in Maya makes it more difficult than Blender. But again, that’s my opinion
@Piscothe3dguy 😃😃
No. You do not need to set up a project. One is set up automatically. But it is important that a standardized project environment exists, and that you can modify it and set it up for the entire team in the studio. That is one of the many details that make a difference in maya and 3dsmax. That is of the many small reasons why they are industry standards.
As for the tutorials you will find, considering UA-cam is a PERSONALIZED experience, chances are YOU will find more tutorials about Blender. Others will find more for Maya, and others for 3dsmax. Scattering in Maya is not a complicated process at all. Just YOU did not know how to do it in a simple way.
Finally B. although it is less rich in elements, appears to have more interesting and detailed lighting.
Thanks a lot for your response, I really like to hear other artists experience about this topic. Can I ask you where you learned maya?
youtube is not a personalized experience when you search a key word and only 3 results show up, why are you talking in such absolutes. youtube can give you algorithm based results, but having a community that's 10x larger will impact the content that's out there.
Cool video!
Thanks for your support! ✨
All the best
Thanks gee! I’m very thankful for all of your support!
vc e brasileiro ?
Maya hard to learn, lack of youtube tutorials...
thats the biggest problem with learning maya
@siegbraud4658I agree with you but maya is good for animation
That’s the most frustrating part of learning maya. The best way to learn maya is to be enrolled in a course that teaches you all you need.
You like pain, not get work done on time, and get yelled at by the CG supervisor, likes to pay for expensive software while making peanuts, likes the feeling of working in Hollywood, but actually working in a CG VFX sweat shop, use Maya.
Effing hate Blender, garbage subpar jack of all trades, master of nothing package, and I hate it even more how most content out there is focused on that trash, even if you don't search specifically for it, YT algo will shove that stuff down your throat regardless (as it was the case with this video)
Boohoo, blender hurt my feelings.😢
I understand that Blender isn’t for everyone, and I appreciate different perspectives. The goal of this video was to compare Blender and Maya, not to create division or ‘teams.’ I’m actually preparing a short that touches more on this topic. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Skill issue.
@Piscothe3dguy I know you arent and I have nothing against you, I swear, sorry if I caused that impression, I was just ranting about YT algo in general, I tried Blender, I can't get myself to like it, it's terrible, but no matter if you use Maya, 3ds, Zbrush, Houdini, Unreal Engine, YT will always clutter your recommendations with Blender stuff. Sad that such awful software has become so popular (and its community, insanely preachy and toxic)
@ sorry for hurting YOUR feelings with the truth, buddy
