The sample town at 4:33 is what's called a "Greybox". Developers use this as an example for the scale the world is going to be, test height and interaction with doors and so on. It's also a good way to quickly test out textures and how they look in a scene.
Here is what the Japanese text says: 4:47 このゲームには暴力シーンやグロテスクな表現が含まれています。 This game contains violent and grotesque scenes. 5:12 ここに鍵がある There is a key here. 5:16 SOFTIMAGEはよくわからん。本当はここに開いた本がある。大口開けたトカゲと狩人の絵つき。 I don't understand SOFTIMAGE. I have an open book here with a picture of a lizard with a big open mouth and a hunter.
What a neat little easter egg - its so cool to find hidden backrooms, esp in games like Silent Hill. These works are some of my favorite, I really appreciate their existence - thanks for showing us!
One thing I can add is the way the game maps are loaded. Basically each area is a giant grid, with rooms lined up based on their function(ie all classrooms are lined up from top to bottom.) The separate grids do connect to each other but crash if you enter another due to memory, all the grids are as follows: - old silent hill - school -nightmare school - central silent hill - nightmare central silent hill - hospital - nightmare hospital - sewers A - resort silent hill - nightmare resort silent hill - Sewers B - Theme park - nowhere/ commercial buildings If you draw a map of each grid, the rooms line up to their nightmare counterparts and often find cut content if you go to an areas that has a room in one, but not the other (like the roof in normal school or the piano room in nightmare). Oddly nowhere contains nearly every building you can enter, like the boat house, police station, the gas station, the school bus, the secret room in the house (strangely not the house itself, that's on the right side of the old silent hill map), both churches and several others. I'm still doing research on why the lakeside amusement park is a separate map, its only two small rooms and doesnt make sense thaf it doesnt share with the sewers maps, I also can't find its rooms for the two cutscenes that happen there (the game almost never uses the main game rooms for cutscenes, theres plenty of duplicate rooms everywhere, like the antique storefront has a dupe in the nightmare hospital map, and the cutscene with Lisa in nowhere has a dupe hallway as well.)
Could it be that lakeside was added in either way later or way before, thus using a different method? I've been a game dev for about ten years now, learning about how they worked with compression and PS1 hardware is fun! Do you have any videos on how the grids work?
That weird sound looks like an jungle ambience when there is weird monsters showing up and coming towards you. and you're dead, maybe it was used to interpret the Silent Hill Elementary School lizard's death story?
I guess its a good thing nobody back in the day ever knew about those topless photos sitting on a Demo disc, it would have spurred a VERY confusing early hot coffee incident XD
It always amazes me how such amazing content creators such as yourself don't get the credit and recognition they deserve. Thank you for this, amazing work. Please keep it up.
@@peter08xxx indeed! You have to align Harry's back to the invisible wall and do his jump back dodge thing. Pause right before you hit the invisible wall. The pause disables the trigger for him turning around. Once you're past that you can run around and find Cheryl standing there. It's oddly creepy.

Lol this is great. Sounds like a developer was venting their frustrations about using SoftImage.
Bless the algorithm, enjoyed this!

Some of it sounded like the monkey dudes near the police station
The sound looks like?? Smell the color nine baby
Great work mate! Appreciate your time on that, thank you!

Dude most of this was new to me and I’m an avid fan good shit homie
5:39 reminds me the jungle sounds you hear when you are at the menu/title of seaman
I remember having that demo 😔
Thanks for the upload
5:02 There's no way that's in the game. I can't find anything about it on the internet lol
Leftover file on a very specific demo disc, it could be possible
This has been documented since at least 2014, Pixel Discoveries missed some more images and old assets left over in the demo disc
It's uncensored on the cutting room floor.
Excellent video, I like silent hill and this is unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. Well done!
Damn, the stuff you revealed here was wild. Thanks for such an interesting and informative video!
This is interesting. This game changed my life. Watching this brought back memories

Great video. Nice concept for the channel. Subscribed
I think the audio file with the sounds of birds could be related to the Piano Puzzle.
So even in the final game and on real PSone hardware, you can get past that first invisible barrier.
Can you? 🤔😎

There is a pterodactyl monster that is immortal and trying to kill it just spawns more of them. This is a zelda reference
@@mexican_geese7134 On/around the bridge, right by the building where you get the rock hammer

Amazing stuff! 😎
All Silent hill series have a lot of secrets especially Silent hill 4.💪🇷🇸
Now, do ROBOCOP VS TERMINATOR on both on SEGA and Super Nintendo. They are both different videogames.
That was amazing!
Love this beta
