This is mainly for a backstop to keep arrows from getting lost. I don't think I'd use it as a target. Would be hard to pull em after it starts to wear down.
Great video. In preparation for the season I would really like to get my garage and archery gear cleaned and organized to go into the season strong. I know you have made them before but I could use more organizational videos. Thanks.
Did this awhile back when you made this and talked about those mats. But used old conveyor belt from my Mill. I also live in town. Just puts my mind at ease. Great Job on your tips.
Yep I miss the peace and quiet of having acreage as well as my steel shooting range and tree stand 3d range. But at this house in town I need a bask stop too.
I would go very similar to yours only using some I bolts in the bottom two corners with holes bigger then I bolt on the mat and the I bolts loose so they can move but not get caught in the high winds of South Dakota and go flying. Also, would have the bottom runner lying flat as a 4 wide by 2 on height to do better stabilization for weather and moving and I would paint the thing a tan with other white as well as a hint of Sage green and maybe a little black or dark brown if needed but rather basic but more the colors of the area to blend in during winter and in summer with the area.
That mat wont blow in any wind. Its 100 pounds and we have 60 mph winds here when storms blow thru. the mat doesnt even wiggle. so would would not have to worry about that. I like all the other tips you had also.
Hi Jason, what you talked about are still luxuries. In a lot of countries, carbon arrows are luxuries for most of hunters. The best arrows they can afford are bamboo arrows (they made themselves). If you can teach how to DIY high quality bamboo arrows and how to shoot them properly (with good grouping), it will help more people. Actually, bamboo arrows are good arrows.
I love and shoot my Bob Lee Ultimate all the time, but I also enjoy and shoot my Mathew’s V3X a lot. Will this target work for the faster bow, and how tough will it be to remove arrows from this backstop? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks the old guy
I don't plan to shoot this back stop. It's just there to stop my missed shots from getting away. Not sure how it would work with a compound. But it will stop anything a traditional bow can throw at it. So I bet it would stop a compound shot arrow to. But again, I would not use it as a target. There are better targets. This is an safety net basically.
Yeah I walk into TS thinking I am only spending $60 and come out with $400 worth of stuff. Nice try TS but I am not falling for this handsome mans commercial for your store!
I'm a divorced guy paying child support on 3 kids. Got into trad bows as what I claim as my mid life crisis. Got me 2 bows and 12 arrows. I can't drop anymore change on stuff. I use a green line target block holding up great. But lol my back stop is a dirt bank in my backyard. Effective... but... I occasionally hit rocks. Dinged up 2 practice tips which I just file back into place.
It's 4x6, not 4x8 and weighs almost 100 pounds. Much better ways to mount , ask me how I know 😅. You can buy on sale for 44.99. Get a raincheck, don't order online--pick up at store to save shipping.
I hope you know that Tractor Supply recently sponsored a concert in Texas where they had transgender performers on stage beckoning for little kids to come kiss me where i pee. Tractor Suppy sponsored that.
My Favorite Traditional Bow hunting Channel 👍
And Robert Carter 👍
Thank you. Robert is top shelf all the way.
Concur!
I was just in a Tractor Supply and those mats are tough!
And heavy. It was quite comical watching me try and load the 100 pound mat into my shopping cart
@@SamkoTradBow and I only weigh 105--110 pounds but I can lift 100 pounds up to about 5--7 times in a day.
And I know 💯% they have a similar mat at Runnings Farm and Fleet, the local place I would go for such a mat getting the heavier duty one.
Great idea, thanks…I am tired of wearing out straw bales, will give this a try.
I shoot a Howatt Hunter, 50#.

Yep totes, bins, and old dressers are your friend in the process.

great Repurpose of an old belt.

I dont know how to make bamboo arrows or cane arrows. But Ryan gill has a great channel on all that primitive stuff on yourube if you look him up.

Thank you.
I agree with the other comments- What a GREAT idea - thanks
Thanks
Are you certain this is 4x8? It looks more like 4x6 and thats the size I'm seeing on the TS website.
Probably is 4x6
Good idea 👍
Thanks

Functional and it looks good to great job
Thanks.
Great idea I need to build one!! What bow are you using didn't look like your classic long bow ?
That is my classic. All I shoot is my classics. Probably all I shoot until I cant shoot no more.
Hi Jason, did you test the speed of this bow before (for such a arrow, about 700 grain)?
Thank you very much.
Never shot any bow thru a chronograph in my life. But I bet its only going 130-140 fps if I had to guess. But it blows thru everything I shoot
@@SamkoTradBow
Thank you very much.
How do you think it would do with higher poundage compound bows?
Probably fantastic and you could double up with a mat on the back side of the stand as well.
wow wish I saw this 10yrs ago when the kids flung arrows all over the yard and fence LOL
🤣🤣 love flu flus

I think the mat was 49 when I bought it 2 years ago
Ima have to get me a stall mat
It sure does work great
Genius!
Sure does work great
Nice
Glad you enjoyed it

Life will stabilize for ya. Glad you are enjoying shooting your bow.
Also your bow is sooo silent wow how did u get it so quiet
I shoot heavy arrows. Heavy arrows absorb more energy from the bow and are quieter. I shoot 57 pounds with a 720 grain arrow
I've been using the same thing for about 4 years. It's a 4x6, not 4x8
Thank you for the correction

Mines been hanging there for almost 2 years now in the Georgia heat and it's been perfect. Such a flawless backstop. Love it
If it ain't broke ....I lived in Brunswick for two years buddy!@@SamkoTradBow
lol worried about looking like an idiot and not hurting your neighbors is the reason you built this? Love it, neighbors suck these days anyways
😂😂 my neighbors here are awesome. But thought it would be good to keep and fly away arrows in my yard😂
