Rustoleum Truck Bed Coating Review

- I was very pleased with the process and results of using this particular Rustoleum product. I used 5 cans of the spray for this project; however, know that I was pretty generous with the spray coating and was able to add a light second coating overall with the fifth can. Using a good respirator mask would be HIGHLY recommended! Definitely two thumbs up with this spray coating. Easy prep work. Easy spray on. Fantastic results!

In my own opinion I thought it came out looking great & preserved! Congrats
nice job, really cleaned up the look of the older bed nicely. Thanks for the heads-up on using the 5 cans.
thanks... good luck!
Thanks ! I’m trying this out tomorrow on f150 shot out work bed
thank you so much for your advice for the rustoleum truck bed coating. keep up the good work
you the man 👊🏽😎
DUDE THAT LOOKS GOOD
came out great... still holding
Thanks for video ! Going to do the same to my work truck !
I use this to remedy the rusty spots on my motorcycle such as on scraped foot pegs and handle bars. Works great.
This is precisely what I was looking for as far as advice. I'm tryna coat a minichopper frame so gravel and debris won't destroy it. Was gonna mayb use the rubberized texture coat, any thoughts?
i just applied a few cans on an ATV trailer cart... it's doing what it's supposed to do... best of luck
interested to learn of how this turns out for you...
I use this stuff on my bikes and of the wheel wells of my 3000gt and it's been fantastic stuff. I even used it on a couple guns that wouldn't grab blueing very well
good stuff holding up well so far
I'm thinking about using this stuff for a carry pistol. Do you think it's durable enough for that?
Excellent job! Just ordered 4 cans to paint the bed on my 78 Chevy Scottsdale longbed
Brother, I’m sold! I was looking for something that I could do myself. I have a 1999 Ford F150 that is a work truck that I purchased and the engine and transmission are in excellent shape, but I need something for the bed because the bed is Somewhat rusted but very scuffed and beat up. this will probably increase your truck’s value by at least $1000. I may look into the roll-on stuff as well because I’m not a fan of having to tape everything up but I’ll do what I have to do. Thank you for a superbly filmed and fantastic video. You have a good Chevrolet truck at 2006. Do not go any higher. They are not as good between the years of 07 and 14 the same can be set of newer Fords as well from what I’m hearing, they may have both gotten better as of the 2018 model years
How does it look up close? Does it have a texture?
Well done mr
So is this really slick afterwards or is it a pretty grippy texture/feel? Thanks!
Does it have the textured finish?
Did you do any sanding for prep work? Or did you just use a pressure washer?
Should have used a rust converter/encapsulator first, sanded the bed a bit, sprayed primer for maximum adhesion but I'd love to know what it looks like now a year later?
It doesn't need a primer but yes to the rest
has a primer on the professional version
good points... we did very minimal prep work, but i'm glad the coating is holding up well despite major bed wear and tear
whats the texture like?
How's it holding up?
Any fresh coat of bed liner looks nice. The real question is how the durability is a year or two or three later. I'm guessing yours will be peeling off prematurely because you didn't scuff the paint first or remove the rust.
Probably but doing this once every two years. Who cares
definitely has scuffed off in a few areas after a year of heavy duty usage... but i'm pleasantly surprised at how it's holding up
it's going to cost me very little to reapply every few years for what it is... it's holding up
It look good. But the texture is more of a 220 grit sandpaper. I’d like it if it was more rubberized
Is it a rubberized type finish? or simply hard paint?
this one is hard finish
I was thinking the spray is only part of the package. It is for the sides. There is another thicker coating that goes on the bed. You roll it on.
What's that called or have a link?
i've seen that one... i'm sure it'll work much much better than doing it the way i did
A year later by, without me looking for the update video..... how has it held up?
holding up well after a solid year of heavy wear and tear on the truck bed
How has it done so far? I'm wanting to use this on some dirtbike wheels so I'm wondering if it can take a beating
it's holding up after a year of heavy truck bed usage, wear and tear
Should you sand it down and primer before painting it ?
this would have been a good thing to add to the prep work
I used it on trailer expanded melt it's still scraping off
i have some areas as well where it's scuffed and scraped off... high traffic areas with heavy wear and tear
Nice bro 👌
The cans are more touch up over spraying all of it.
just thought to give it a try... turned out great
I did 2 coats and it still didn’t last very long. I’m about to just throw some deck paint back there. Lol
Can this be used on tailgate ? Is it supposed to be used on tuck bed?
did you not watch the fuckn video?? wtf hahaha
just sprayed it on truck bed this time around...
How is that coating holding up? I want to use this on my receiver hitch. What do you think?
it's held up despite all the wear and tear on the bed... i think it'll do well on your hitch receiver...
@@lucasbarrientes I painted my receiver hitch with this stuff. I just have to re install it. The true test is whether it hold up for a couple of years.
Does it have a texture to it
Yes but it's not as much as what raptor liner or rhino liner are like. It's kind of like the texture on a thinkpad laptop or a ps4 console. So not very aggressive.
very light texture to it...
How is the liner holding up now ?
truck bed is all scuffed up at the moment, but i'm pleasantly surprised at how it's held up despite all of the super heavy usage of the bed (tools, lumber, debris, concrete bags, tool boxes, etc.)
OK but is it textured?
has a light, bumpy texture to it
if i spray an egg with this can i drop an egg off a building and the egg wont break?
let me know what happens... i'm very curious
How many cans did you use in total?
He said 5 cans
5 cans (another 1 or 2 would have been for a slightly thicker coat)
SHOULD have shown the process...
Good 👍
👊🏽😎
Show the application!!!
application was work! big spray clouds when applying... def need some kind of respireator...
Would been cleaner if you prepped it the right way!!
Lol it’s a truck not a princess. I’m going to do the same thing next week
@@crazyman_is_the_best1479 I don’t mean by better as good looking, I’m saying for what a bedliner is for,(durability) when prepped the right way..
@@sf49erswarriorsgiantsgumba99 What’s the right way? (I’m painting mine in 2 weeks)
i'm sure adding a few extra steps to the prep process would have been good to do... nonetheless, i'm pleasantly pleased with how its held up...
@@lucasbarrientes How long has it held up so far?
Think it clearly says don’t spray on rust lol
this is true...
Ive paint on top of rust and nothing happens. The paint stops rust expansion I'm sure this is the same.
Thanks for convincing me not to buy it...
what would be another good option for future application?
This don’t work .. trust me
What does ?
it's holding up so far... but also scuffing and scraping off in some areas
I know it's only your work truck but your prep work is terrible...
Was there any prep work? I only saw washing with a pressure washer. That isn’t prep at all for any sort of coating, be it paint or Bedliner.
The can says it can be applied to either raw or primed metal.
@@disht2 What does that have to do with proper prep? Here is how the bed should be prepped for bed liner application. ua-cam.com/video/FcF4rIfLscY/v-deo.html
Needed to get all the rust out and apply about ten cans, that stuff will fall off in months
we did very minimal prep work... but I knew before spraying it down... after about a year of heavy usage, there are areas where it's scuffing and scraping off
Worst stuff Ever !!
it's been good on this end
Came out way better than I expected, r u sure your not a salesman for Rust-Oleum?? Lol
maybe they'll send me some new products to try out in the near future... i'm just a DIYer trying to show my truck some TLC
