I except Christ as my Saviour at a Ravi crusade in lower mainland BC. I was only 15 years and took a step of faith and walked to the front of the church for the alter call. My eyes were closed. I opened them and realized I was the only one standing in front of the pulpit. Ravi came down after he finished his prayer and sat with me for about 20+ minutes. We chatted and prayed together. He was a gentle, sweet man. I will never forget that day.
When I heard about Ravi’s tragic news I bawled . I was devastated. It still hurts to this day. I will continue to live in faith despite Ravi tragic end. Ravi didn’t save me, JESUS did!

No man can save us except the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is the same yesterday today and forever . So many people became nonbelievers because they take Christianity according to man's way not God's way and became sceptics of their faith. Our faith should be in Jesus Christ not in any man .

I went to Bible College. Most of our teachers there would use Ravi’s arguments to help teach us. I was always amazed by how smart Ravi was. I was floored when the bad news came out about him. God gives gifts to people but don’t make the mistake of putting any person on a pedestal. God himself is the only one who never makes mistakes.

I’m still floored by the news of Ravi’s sexual misconduct. I can’t get it to make any sense in my mind at all.
It would have been one thing if, within any given lecture, you could pick out red flags in his theology, but that wasn’t even the case.
He seemed to have wisdom of Solomon. Literally nothing that I ever heard out of him lead me to “take some of his dialogue with a grain of salt”. Nothing.
      And then boom! This mess.
Still, as you stated, this mess doesn’t change the fact that his message from the pulpit as well as his literature was and is pure and legit.
I have one of his books, “Jesus Among Secular gods”, and won’t ever part with it. It’s a very valuable and indispensable part of my modest collection of study material.
And you’re absolutely right; the truth is still the truth regardless of who it comes from.
Sadly, I listened to a Christian radio station shortly after Ravi’s passing, the host of which shared his own commentary on how Ravi’s messages were always delivered with such eloquence of verbiage that once could scarcely follow him. The same speaker used that backdrop as an occasion to accuse Ravi of delivering lectures so eloquently so as to mesmerized his audience with fancy talk.
I would challenge that to this day!
Ravi was accused by some of rarely incorporating scripture into his lectures, and I beg to differ!
If you listen closely, Ravi’s sermons were literally replete with scripture. What you seldom heard was Ravi including chapter and verse.
Suffice to say, his haters in that respect apparently didn’t recognize scripture when they heard it-because YES, Ravi did indeed quote from the Bible, and he did it a LOT. Most often right in the middle of a sentence.
Again, I would suggest that if one’s only ability to recognize when a bible passage is being referenced, is by hearing chapter and verse quoted before or after, that individual is themselves apparently scarcely in the Word.
One evangelist whose material I enjoy, Ray Comfort, actually had some negative words to say as well about Ravi’s approach to ministry.
He took some jabs at the practice of Christian Apologetics itself. He cited that “it’s not apologetics that wins hearts to God, but the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
What Ray evidently missed is the fact that his own ministry, “Living Waters” is itself a type of Christian Apologetics. He’s got scores of videos defending the Christian faith; providing evidences and giving reasons why he believes it to be true; the very core and foundation of the Christian Apologetic.
I thoroughly enjoy Ray Comfort! But I don’t think he really thought that commentary on Ravi Zacharias and Christian Apologetics through very well.
Nor has anyone else who purposes to cancel Ravi’s literature.
Thank you, thank you THANK you for this video presentation!

I discovered Ravi when I was around 25 years old. In summary, he completely transformed my life and is the reason why I practice Christian apologetics today. Although I was deeply saddened to learn of the things he had done, I realized that he was just a human being and not perfect. While there are no excuses for his actions, it is worth noting that in scripture, God often used some of the most troubled individuals to carry out his plan. Despite his shortcomings, Ravi's work and passion changed not only my life but also the lives of many people around the world. And I believe that is still a testament to God’s grace.

Sorry, I am afraid that you err, not knowing the Scriptures. The word of God plainly states, to whom much is given, *much more shall be required of him.* (Luke 12:48). This in includes Zacharias. Moreover, this is one reason why the church of Jesus Christ is so sickly and anemic. We are not holding prima donnas who occupy the pulpits in our churches accountable for their ungodly conduct. Although Zacharias lived a lie, it in no way erases the message of the gospel, it does put a blight on it, and is another reason why the world slanders the name of God. (Rom. 2:24) *Our loyalty should be to Christ; not man.*

Quite tragic watching this. I am a Christian pastor in Scotland and I find it alarming the way the church elevates men of God, forgetting the old adage that ‘even the best of men are only men at best’. Only on the last day will we find out what the truth was about Ravi, whether he truly knew the Lord or not. One danger of this is that while we wonder about Ravi we stop checking our own heart and life, and that’s when the devil gets a foothold. “Oh Lord, have mercy, and keep us faithful”

Pastor, I agree wholeheartedly. The cult of personality is, to my mind, the single greatest enemy of the church. And, even more concerning, it's been happening since the very beginning of the Jesus movement; cf Luke 9:46.
      Yet, we haven't learned.
Some might say that the disciples were flawed, and they'd be right. You could also argue that all was a genocidal, maniacal killer; again, they'd be right.
Except not one of them continued in their wicked ways AFTER meeting Jesus. Ravi, may Jesus forgive him, did not. He obviously became enamoured by celebrity and fame. A fate all too often befalling those who don't have or accept robust accountability models.

I learned greatly from Ravi Zacharias...I enjoyed "Let My People Think" and I was thrilled to see him in person at an apologetics conference. I voraciously read his books. I was crushed when I realized the allegations were true & those women were truly violated & silenced. But I agree that what he taught was truth even if he didn't live it out. He fell and fell hard & tried to hide it...his double life betrayed & devastated so many. He knew what he was doing & continued to do it. He took his "secret" to the grave without acknowledgement & accountability...that is a terrifying thought. But it changes not one word of scripture. We should never lift up another human as infallible. Only to Christ belongs Perfection.

He sinned once. Outside of that instance, the case of Bathshua and Uriah, he never sinned. I'm wearied with the constant use of David's one sin as an excuse for you people to justify your continual going after your lusts. My God, YHWH ELOHIM ADONAI , the God of Abraham, Moses, And David, The Fatger of Yeshia and God and Father of all My brethren is sick of the American bastardization of His grace and using the examples as an excuse and justification. @whyareyouasking7153 - Good reply. To piggyback a bit, David also sinned greatly when he numbered the people (took a census). This was such a show of pride on David's part that God's anger was fierce against him. He also failed to deal justly with people around him like his general, Joab, and his own family. David was not a great man because of how little he sinned. He was great because he had a broken and contrite heart regarding his sin. This was the contrast between him and Saul. Saul dug in his heals and tried to justify his sin. David cried out for forgiveness when confronted with his sin. I think we all wish Ravi had been more like David. Imagine if he had repented when first confronted instead of denying and hiding and letting sin snowball into a whole secret life and a ruinous testimony and who knows how many hurt people. Man, what a mess.

We must be in the Word and have accountability through the local church, no matter how “successful” we may seem to be. Prayers for peace for the many victims.

I loved Ravi! I loved his teachings and the great love he seemed to have for God. His teachings to me were fascinating and I learned a lot from him. Listening to this, a great sadness came over me even though I already knew the truth about his double life. I realize that he was just an ordinary man being used by God. I can now understand his shortcomings and his struggles. Thank you so much for explaining it so well.

In the few brief snippets I heard from Ravi Zaccarias it did strike me that he seemed to rely on philosophical arguments and anecdotes, and didn't quote the Bible. I think Ray Comfort, John MacArthur and perhaps Todd Friel have said that too.
I used to read masses of CS Lewis, another philosopher, but as far as I remember he also rarely quoted the Bible. I'm not suggesting Lewis led a double life, but one can't grow in the faith if one never uses God's Word.

The story of Ravi is a reminder that God watches over us all. It's an opportunity for us to reflect on our lives and consider the importance of representing Christ in everything we do. While some priests may fall short of our expectations, it's important to remember that our actions can impact how others view Christ. We must be diligent in our pursuit of righteousness and avoid falling prey to Satan's deceptions. By submitting to Christ, we can walk in the Spirit and resist the desires of the flesh. Let us work towards our salvation with humility and reverence, remembering that our relationship with Christ should always be our top priority.

I almost didn't watch it because I feel so saddened at his double life that was finally exposed after his death. I am so glad that curiosity got the better of me. I was deeply impacted by his ministry, did some excellent courses with RZIM, and read many of his books and those he co-authored. I still have several of them, which i would normally have passed on to a sceptic by now, but cant because I dont want them to research the author😢. The women who worked for him at his massage parlors were victims of sexual harassment/misconduct. But Lee Anne Thompson was not an abuse victim. She didn't work for him, she was not underage. No one forced this middle-aged married woman to betray her family via an inappropriate relationship with another man. It is ridiculous when publications call her a victim. It's sad what happened with this life, but it's not enough to suppose that he only knew philosophy. He truly knew scripture. The reason you found philosophical arguments only is you forget philosophy is a language God spoke too. Take Apostle Paul who presented much of his argument using philosophical colorations. Whether it was at Areopagus where he quoted contemporary poets and philosophers or before Festus or Felix. It was an attempt to be persuasive and appealing to the mind.
The Spirit indeed saves but He doesn't save inspite of, He saves by the word.
Ravi may have failed but the word of God never.

What I do not understand is why his behavior was enabled, covered up and supported by the Body of Christ?
Why were his accusers paid off instead of him being held accountable, and his victims given justice?
Christians/his fellows knew, they had to have known ; why did they turn a blind eye?

    • @mdelaney9008

I question this myself. How could those around him turn a blind eye? Their own lack of truly knowing God? I have my doubts of these so called “victims.” Women who work in “massage parlors” know what is going on in these places, else they wouldn’t work there. Now mind you there are massage businesses that are on the up and up, but we know that most are not. I think these women could be crying foul for the notoriety and public exposure, not to mention financial gain. There are two sides to every story and then there is the TRUTH. What we need to be aware of is that people are capable of some pretty gruesome acts. I liked to listen to Ravi speak, but he is only a man. Others like him have fallen too. It’s no big shock, but it’s certainly a disappointment. We’ll probably never know the truth, but I will not let it affect me, he was a man in flesh, fallible. My eyes will remain on God.

The one thing David didn’t do was turn to idols. I imagine David had a lot on his shoulders as King and fighting wars. In his earlier years as King, David fought with his troops. I thought of Absalom an how wicked he seemed to be. My point in earlier post was to point out that no matter how far we fall, if we repent and asked for forgiveness, God does forgive. Reading accounts such as David helps me to understand the concept of forgiveness in reality. We are all imperfect and it’s easy to look at someone like Ravi, but when we look at ourselves, if we’re honest, we can come up with a few faults of our own. I feel bad for the man, disappointed in his actions, but I won’t judge him. I’m a sinner too.

The stipulation is "repent." Continual, willful sin is a different thing than sinning and covering up your sin as David did. But David repented. David wasn't under the new covenant and did not have the Grace and Mercy from the sacrifice and atoning Blood of Jesus Christ. According to reports, Zacharias was trafficking girls.
      1 Corinthians 6:9
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality
      Matt 7:21-23
Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

Now you have to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ after you repent, and then seek God for the Holy Ghost ( Luke 24:49 & Acts 8: 15-16) speaking in tongues, as The Spirit gives the utterance ( Acts 2:4 ). Read it obey Acts 2:38 be baptized in The NAME of Jesus Christ ( Acts 4:12 ) is how you applied the blood of the lamb of God Jesus Christ to your life to wash away your seeds, or for the remission ( removal) of your sins. You can just speak the blood of Christ into your life. You can just pray the blood into your life. It only comes through the baptism in the name of lamb, which is Jesus Christ. You do not call Father or Holy Spirit out over baptism because The Spirit did not shed the blood. Please read the scriptures it how they ALL agree in ONE.
      Acts 2:38 :
      for the remission of sins
      Luke 24:45-47:
      for the remission of sins
      Hebrews 9: 19-22:
Through the water to receive the blood for the remission of sins
      Hebrews 10:18:
After remission of sins or the baptism in THE NAME of Jesus Christ, there is no more offering for sins
      Revelation 1:5:
Washed us from our sins in His own BLOOD
      ACTS 22:16:
Arise, and be BAPTIZED , and WASH AWAY THY SINS, calling on THE NAME of THE LORD
      Matthew 26:28:
The Lord’s BLOOD IS FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS, AND THE BLOOD ALSO BROUGHT IN THE NEW TESTAMENT AFTER THE DEATH OF THE TESTATOR ( Hebrews 9: 15-17). That’s why the thief on the cross did not have to be baptized because Jesus Christ had not died yet, so they were still under the OLD COVENANT. by the thief asking for forgiveness under the Old covenant he fulfilled NUMBERS 5:1-5 !!!! The new covenant came into effect after the death of the testator now that the testator, or the Lamb of God shed blood ( Hebrews 9: 16-17). Now you have to be baptized in the name of that testator or The Lamb of God, apply His blood in your life to wash your sins away , or for the remission of sins. What Jesus Christ did naturally has to be applied to your life spiritually ( 1 Corinthians 15:45-49).
      Jesus Christ / Us Today
      Death / Repent
Burial / Baptized in the name of Jesus Christ
Resurrection / receive gift of the Holy Ghost ( Life)
      Baptism does save us :
      1 Peter 3:21
The like figure whereunto even BAPTISM doth also NOW SAVES US (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
Watch Pastor Gino Jennings for more truth. Trust me, you will want to hear him and repent and obey Acts 2:38 , God bless….

Therefore scripture reminds us that our work will be tested by Him. it doesn't matter what people say or think, we are all white washed tombs most of the times in this life! He was one of my favorite teachers. Years later now I still wrestle with this. He never softened, he never confessed. He did the opposite, he aggressively went after those doing the right thing and revealing their sin with him. They did the courageous and embarrassing thing, and he made them pay for it to protect himself, his family and his organization. The sexual misconduct is surprising, but not anywhere near the biggest problem of all of this. It’s that instead of softening when called on his sin, he attacked. Attacked and lied until his death. It’s a strong warning to the rest of us. We can justify anything if we let ourselves. We can become everything we speak against if we are not careful.

When he first died, my wife and I were saddened, and all we could think of was, "Well done, good and faithful servant," but then that changed to fear for his soul and where he may have ended up after he passed from this life into eternity. Only God Knows/Knew his heart before he died, but to say this was a "punch in the gut" after finding out this shocking news, is an understatement.

God is the judge. We take the good to learn from this great man and let God be his judge. Let the man who has not sinned cast the first stone. RIP Ravi Zacharias.

Just listened to your podcast and was blessed by it. For I also was a listener of Ravi. He came into my life at a time his words hit home and I thought he was a true man of God. He made sense. But we are all born in sin. I was broken and saddened when I heard the news of his "2nd life" hidden from the world. But like all of us, he also will have to stand before God one day and give an account and God is our final judge. We only get one "life" to live, and that is to live it to honor our Lord and Savoir, Jesus.
    We should take that seriously.

It was good to listen and learn from this program. I did not previously know that Ravi Zachrias' reputation had been tarnished and reduced by things about his personal life that were discovered near the end of his life and after his death.
Thanks to the author and the voice of this program for the honest, sensitive, balanced, compassionate, and just presentation; and also for wise practical advice. (Back in about 2003 or 2004, I was part of a church study group that read Ravi's book JESUS AND OTHER GODS-- I think that was the title.
As I recall, it was a good book and it influenced me. Moreover, I Iistened to Ravi's radio program many times and consistently felt those programs were helpful in my efforts to live my life by both faith in God and reason.

God used Ravi to change my life, as with many others here. I learned how to think, and communicate my thoughts and beliefs a million times better by hearing his clarity and wisdom. I still remember this quote almost every time I need to communicate something important: "It's not the use of great words, but the great use of words." In every area of my life, I am a better man for listening to his lectures over and over in my college years. I can never thank God enough for Ravi's contribution to my life and my growth. God is so good he can literally use anything for our sanctification.
Ravi failed in many ways, and maybe had the most tragic end he could have. It's a black eye over the message he preached (and I do believe he believed), and it brought shame to the church. But it won't erase how God used him in my life. Just praise God for being this good to us, for His grace for us, and even His grace for Ravi, and never worship any man apart from Christ. All glory to Him forever and ever.

I remember reading how people were questioning whether he was even saved to begin with. While there’s always that chance, people forget that others can be tempted by their flesh and be led astray by it. You can genuinely start off on the right path but end up somewhere you don’t want to be. It’s no one’s fault but man’s own. So we all must stay humble, learn and remove any hint of self righteousness out of our lives. I can see why Paul warned the church and said, “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!”

We need to be careful here. RZ did not just have an affair and repented of it and kept falling in sin because of the weakness of his flesh. There is no evidence of repentance, rather there is an ongoing conspiracy to facilitate a sinful life, silence the victims, and destroy the lives, marriage, family, and career of those who dare speaking up. This is nothing short of demonic and cannot be reconcile with the concept of a weak and immature Christian who nevertheless felt bad for his sins. Yes, this should put fear in our hearts but we should not sugarcoat and minimize this ongoing demonstration of abject carnality and disdain for God, his people, and the kingdom. Read the report, it is not your garden variety carnal life.

Ravi spoke at my college graduation. In fact, we shared the stage during my valedictory speech. I respected him and loved his ministry, and I was mortified, disgusted and oh so disappointed when I learned the truth and extent of his indiscretions.
This is a lesson for any person in Christian ministry. First of all, ensure you are actually counted among the Elect. Do you love the Jesus of the Bible and follow him? I don't mean some caricature of him as seen in cults and false religions, or even one you fabricate in your own imagination. Do you serve Jesus, as presented in the 66 books of the Bible? If you find this is so, praise God and understand that humans fail, and are bent to failure; we are fallible and not yet glorified. Finally, accountability is so crucial to a minister's role. Put guardrails around yourself, not just to mitigate false claims against you but also to aid the process of your sanctification. It appears that Ravi was not accountable to any church leadership. Understand that God's discipline can be painful, but it comes from a loving Father. Always seek to please him and not yourself, especially if your interests are in conflict with God's law.
I truly hope that Ravi entered into a true relationship with Jesus, but also that his victims come to know that his actions were not a reflection of the one, true, merciful God, but an affront to him.

Very good review. After following Ravi and learning so much, the awful news was so hard to accept. I held out, hoping and praying all would prove to be an evil attack on him. But the time came when I had to accept the truth. I felt particularly bad because I had given his books to young adults in doubt about Jesus and seeking truth.
I faced the dilemma regarding what to do with his books that I owned. Thank you for giving me a healthy perspective. There is still very worthwhile important information in his writings. If all teachers had to be perfect without blemish we’d have no teachers (aside from Jesus).

I was sicken as a Christian woman (now approaching 70 years, who God began a good work in at the age of 30) healed the Childhood trauma of Childhood Sexual Abuse. I held Ravi Zachariah in high esteem, had many of his book, but now hold his whole story which sounds similar to King Saul’s fall and disfavor in God’s eyes. Sad attempt to try a restore Zachariah’s reputation. God will be his judge not me and I put his soul in God’s Hands not man.
