This review is pretty spot on. The 535Q has a great clean wah sound, and Dimebag is the better of the two for playing with distortion / overdrive. Simple tip, to take away some treble bite I duct tape a dime under the toe bumper, and to take away some heel down mud I do the same with the heel bumper. This helps keep the sweep in a more pleasant / listener friendly range.
A good friend of mine is a wah nut, he has all sorts of wahs including a lot of vintage ones that he collects. He is of the opinion that the Crybaby from Hell is well worth the money if you will be playing a lot of wah stuff and that it is especially good if you want to emulate a lot of specific players wah sounds. The CbFH can sound like Dime, but with all the adjustments it can sound like the much darker Cantrell wah too (where the Cantrell wah can not do the reverse), or it can sound like a standard Crybaby/Vox wah.
I own both, the CFH is way more reactive and interestingly the settings out of the box were awesome. The ability to change the mechanical sweep of the pedal makes a big difference to getting the most out of a wah pedal, IMO of course.
Dime long time user of 535Q, but they made him a copy of his 535Q wah and put even more wide sweep range to become his signature wah.. so yeah. Hell wah is 🔥🔥🔥
Great video, and was curious if Dime Wah is really good. Always suspicious of any guitar gear attached to a particular player. Since I down tune to C# and mainly use an overdrive channel, the choice is pretty clear. Next piece of gear will be a camo wah pedal!
I just got the 535 today for a killer deal. Funny thing is I wasn’t even looking to buy any gear. Just looking this time. But I couldn’t pass it up once I tried it. I originally wanted the Petrucci wah. But now I don’t have to shell out 200 bucks. 😅. But. The Dime wah. Can’t go wrong. Rip Dime.
Is the dimebag suitable for funk/blues/clean tones? All I can find in demos are metalheads shredding lol I can get either one I just want one thats suitable for my playstyle/genre. If dimebag can do it all then its a no brainer
I don't understand what I am doing wrong with mine it has excellent wah sound on clean but with any kind of distortion it's not making much difference can anyone please help me it's frustrating
The 535q has more bite with overdrive imo. It's more aggressive in its attack and has more bite. Its nastier sounding. The from he'll sounds scooped and a little weak but it's is a bit dirtier. That's just my opinion though.
This is misinformation. 535Q is true bypass model but dime is a buffered. They are completely different. If you patch them together, this is because one of them has higher output, it make their sounds the same. !!!
BURAK ACAR. I don't have the 535Q so I can't sustain about that 1 but the dime did not sit well next to my Meat and 3 modded Soul food until I switched the inside switch on the Soul Food. Even better when I switched places with a Boss BD-1. Now noise free but it took tests, switching pedals around, finding right order. About 6 weeks and buying new used different pedals and compromised situations til I found the right combination. Now I want a Helix. Urrggg. G A S
I dont like pretty fx on my board... The only 2 of my pedalboard that are ment to sound like really good are the once thats allways on: My MXR GTOD overdrive and my Mad Professor Deep Blue delay. Everything else is there to fuck up my sound and get it really nasty... Thats what i love about the CFH... It's got a really nasty tone to it when you dail it in the right way... xD
....one of the best overall demos of this pedal on UA-cam. No nonsense..showed me what I wanted to hear...and dude has chops !!! New fan here...

Fuck that, I cut the rubber bumpers off, maximum sweep yo 😂
The Crybaby From Hell wins (just for having an awesome name)
very close in sound, but the tip in motion sound sweep is higher per degree on the 535q. CBFH wah has smoother more linear sweep.
Best comparison video style Ive seen.

I'd be interested in hearing how to make it sound like a cantrell wah
@@whitedime me too bro, @dmthadmade5674 you should ask your buddy to make a demo
The Dime's wah all the way. Thanks for the video! It helped me make my mind on which one to buy
Very informative comparison, thank you !
Imma go with the Crybaby from Hell, hooah !

Thank you for the vid! Dunlop 535Q for cleanish, From Hell for distorted sems to be a good guideline.
Great demo and playing. Thank you!
Great demo. Thank you.
That was really helpful, nice video mate
Great review, answered some questions about the the differences between the two Wah pedals
Dime long time user of 535Q, but they made him a copy of his 535Q wah and put even more wide sweep range to become his signature wah.. so yeah. Hell wah is 🔥🔥🔥
Straight forward! Thank you thank you thank you! And you play awesome!!!
I’ve looked all over UA-cam and not one single demo using clean, then dirty with all of the functionality. But this was better of them all.
I have both pedals and to me the 535q is better, but honestly when I go to jam with friends I just love how the hell wah looks on my pedalboard
The Dime bag sounds fatter and gainer than the 535Q. The 535Q sounds thinner to my ears.
As usual, great video

Even Kirk Hammett, who has his own pedal, says he uses the Dime pedal in the studio
They seem really identical. Im planning to buy one soon so yeaa. Even tho i wanted the dime one, the 535Q seems more versitile
Needs more likes good comparison
Thanks for the video. How did you set up your wah after or before distortion?
The 535Q sounds more clear. both are good
Perfect. TY for the vid.
Very good review.
thanks this helped
Great Video Man! Can the Way from hell be tuned to behave like the 535Q? and what difference does the bypass make?

May I ask you what patch is that you used between the pedals?

535q has low cut/volume drop on the heel position. Where it should't be.
It has a boost as well as a button with adjustable 15db gain
Finally, someone who didn’t play that mindfucking Hendrix shit lick
Haha, gosh....well luckily I didn't....
I don't understand what I am doing wrong with mine it has excellent wah sound on clean but with any kind of distortion it's not making much difference can anyone please help me it's frustrating
Only difference is the on off light and paint job and logo, I have both...
I agree, IMO, sound the same with headphones, You Tube not High Fidelity though.

crybaby from hell is kinda made for people who like scooped mids honestly
Oh boy.. its almost the same..

Can this pedal powered by Boss adaptor?
Of course. Brand doesn't matter. You just need 9v center negative.
