I have one that belonged to Dime. He gave it to me about a year before he died. I was at Vince's for a party and we were jamming upstairs. I was going on about how cool it was and he said "it's yours, Chubs! I got a hundred of these things at home." It's been in my collection ever since. My brother can confirm the story. He was there.
Warning!! Don't unscrew the Allen screw to much or a piece holding the pedal in position will come loose. It came out on mine and it was a pain to put back in.
If you are looking for a wah that handles distortion really well this could be the one. I just did my own test and the Dimebag seems like it did the best job, need more practical playing time to confirm, and the other two were tied for second place were the Alice in Chains and the newer Slash version. All three are pretty impressive, but the Dimebag rocked the distortion while staying expressive and not adding any ugly sounds to the signal.
This is the best wah pedal ever built. It is the most versatile and you can get literally all the wah tones you can ever wish for in a single wah pedal. Getcha Pull. R.I.P brother DIme. \m/ Great review.
...like most people,, I have watched lots of youtube. I must say you have the finest review/instruction video I have ever seen. No wasted stalling seconds, No self interest plugs, in focus shots, quick and to the point, without being rude. I am a little more prone to jabs, that to praise. Please keep up the good work. Your one in a thousand!
It's like all I've been waiting for is this video. I always wanted to buy a dime crybaby, but after watching that video, I immediately ordered one. Thanks a lot dude!!
Nice review to show how versatile it is. I mean, that the Wah sounds awesome for Metal is clear and there are dozens of videos showing that but it is also nice to see the Wah in action with other styles.
Glad to help! I noticed when trying to research this pedal, there wasn't much on UA-cam about it, so thought it would be a good idea to make a video of it when I bought it.
Thanks a lot for this review! I was going to get a Zakk Wylde wah because it sounded better to me than the standard Crybaby, but this one seems even better, with all the customisation things inboard! And despite what Fasthotrod440 thinks, I'm not going to use it only for metal! :p
Bought it when it came out, great wah and the second sickest looking wah out their, but my Ibanez weeping demon still sounds better in D tuning and more versatile. Still an awesome wah..
2:04 What in English the name of those two black rubber cushion teeth below the tread (underside the pedal)? i mean that sort of two rubber cushion 'wicks' used to soften the blow to avoid abrading the paint and avoid to push the switch too easily. What's their name?
Me three...It's a tank has a larger sweep variation, can pretty much dial how you want...I wasn't trying to get a dime sound. I liked the idea of shaping sound.
It's a great pedal, I'm sure you agree! To me, the Dime is the best wah wah available! I was listenning to the Zakk Wylde pedal, I liked it a lot either.
Can anyone tell me if this pedal is better with a power pack because I have had 2 now and not getting a good sound out of it but using a battery the first one I sent back but kept the second one I am not sure if the battery power is not enough to get that sound I am hearing in all the videos
I have one I bought used. I opened it up becouse the pot was crackling a bit so I sprayed it with Deoxit and found a small black switch inside. What does this switch control ?
I don't understand what I am doing wrong with mine it has excellent wah sound on clean but with any kind of distortion it's not making much difference can anyone please help me it's frustrating
Shorter waves, have the boost on, run it into an overdrive and then into the amps distortion channel. Give yourself a lot of gain and try doing a harmonic without the wah pedal. Then turn the wah pedal on and press it all the way down, you'll get a great harmonic with ease
Quite close, the JC one ranges from 320 Hz to 2k Hz, this one with Frequency Center selector at 3 will go 375 Hz to 1.8k Hz. The Cantrell one has a bit more usable range, but the versatility options and the posibility to use this wah as a Y splitter (drive two amps at once, or a tuner out of signal chain) sealed the deal for me.
@@ventproc Interesting, doing what. Driving 2 amps like the end of a chain. I go tuner 1st then wah then drive pedals. Last in chain is silent modded KFK 10 band E Q with 2 outs. Do you need to mod a Dime to use both outs? I never did experiment with this actually since I got it almost 20 years ago.
@@sparkyguitar0058 Both outputs are active by default iirc. You can run a tuner out of one and your amp from the other, or just two amps. I use the tuner in front too, since it's also my mute switch. There is a dip switch inside the pedal affecting the outputs, the manual explains it. It's not quite a dedicated splitter as you can't cancel out ground loops if they occur, but it worked for me before I got a A/B/Y box. Considered it a bonus to the most versatile Dunlop wah (I didn't take the JP one into account since it requires unscrewing the bottom to adjust the trimpots each time).
If you tweak the Variable Q to the point where the tone gets more fuzzy + the additional 15db boost that you can get by hitting that red switch, you will get the distorted tone. It is the best wah pedal because it is the most versatile wah pedal form which you can get all the wah tones there are.
How is the build quality (for a mass produced item)? Has any screws or knobs, and such, loosen? Will they need to be replaced at some time? …Great video!
Not so great review. Dime Bag used a Dean ML, not a Fender Strat so that ruins the sound. This video does not show the full potential or actual original intension in how Dimebag would of used it. The pedal itself, using it in its true purpose, which is in metal or hard rock, it sounds amazing. If you want the tone that this man is trying to force out of this pedal, I would recommend the Original Crybaby or the Buddy Guy Signature Crybaby.
This is a review on the pedal itself, not an instructional on how to replicate dimes sound/tone. If that was the case.. Depending on the year and album, you would need A randall warhead/crank/etc.. A Washburn/Dean/etc The crybaby he used before this pedal was released like you have pointed out is what you will need....as clearly dime didnt use this one on any of the songs we came to love from Pantera. You will also need mad skills, nasty harmonics and gnarly tremolo dives and plenty more. This video is a review on Dime's signature Crybaby, not Dime's signature tone. twas a great review. I think you mislead yourself on this one chief. But you play a Jackson and like Dime...So your alright in my book :)
Yah I understand but when I looked at this review I wanted to know it full range of tone and versatility. Yah play some jimi and what not cuz that is a very good way to tell the dynamics of the pedal without having the distortion getting in the way but at the end I hoped for some high gain distortion so I could get a more well rounded feel for the pedal. With this video it was getting there but it never gets there. So I was somewhat disappointed. You gotta love Jackson man. I've been playing them for the past 5 years and haven't looked back. Idk man I have played guitars from other brands but I just keep on going back to Jackson/ Charvels.
fasthotrod440 and you did now if you weren't satisfied with this review go find another one to like. And as a guitarist who likes many different styles this review was aquedate enough to let me see what this pedal could do in any genre I want to apply it to.
My used one doesn't have the allen key to adjust the pedal tension, DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE ALLEN SIZE? If you have your stock key and a micrometer, please measure it. I hate that it is an odd size and length required, but dunlop doesn't seem to offer a replacement tool.

Your brother could confirm the story... if you had a brother, that is.
He gave me one too, then Eddie Van Halen shared his coke with me, Then Jerry Cantrell loaned me his car.
Wished that happened to me. All I got is a wah Hendrix gave me. Sorry luck is all I got compared to you
Cool dude
And im in dimes house right now taking a shit in his toilet.
I just bought one. Best wah on the market and built like a tank
For sure. You can dial in any sound on this baby! Very versatile. .
Not so fast... how about the buddy guy sig.? Lol
Uses Dime Wah, Plays Hendrix
There's no rules in music...
Uses any wah. Plays Hendrix. Duh.
Matthew Flynn ever heard of music theory? That’s the dumbest thing I have ever seen someone say on UA-cam
@@erikhammock3850 music theory is a guidebook. Not hard set rules.
Dimebag was a Hendrix fan you know
Best review of this pedal.
To the point - no metal playing. Just articulate dirty tones.
Thank you man! You've sold me.

How about some Pantera!!
This review is really well done, to the point and concise big thumbs up
Best demo. You’re the only that demo'd fairly clean. Everyone else just wanted to turn it up to 11 with overdrive and make noise. Thank you!
Glad that the video is still helping people after nearly a decade haha
It's like all I've been waiting for is this video. I always wanted to buy a dime crybaby, but after watching that video, I immediately ordered one. Thanks a lot dude!!
I just ordered one today. Was going to get the Cantrell but decided I liked the versatility of the DB .
This, in my opinion, is the best and most versatile wah pedal you can buy.

Word on the street is that this one of the best wah pedals ever made. Definitely getting a reputation.
I've had mine for years. Still kicking ass
no heavy metal riff or lead with this cb from hell?
One of the best wah pedals out there man
Excellent demonstration.
Nice video man, very professional with the editing and such. :)
Great demo. 👍 Just ordered this from Sweetwater.

Great review... RIP legend Dime.
Thanks for the video. What is your set up is the wah after distortion? or before?
Good video! Congratulations
Awesome review 🤘
This wah is exactly like the hell babe wah, this video actually helped me figure out how to use it,lol
Can you get zakk wylde sound on this cause wylde wah is so unavailable😭
Que tal una pregunta está pedal tiene dos salidas pero veo que la otra no la ocupan ....
cool video. i have this pedal its awsome.how do i adjust it for the van halen wah sound? thanks
You should get your hands on a Talk Box and review that. Great playing man!
Great review! Thanks a lot.
are you on a overdrive or crush channel or does the pedal makes the distortion??
kirk should use this
I have that same pedal, but it happens to me that when I activate the wah, all the volume goes down, does this ever happen to someone before ?
what happens when you put an auto wah effect on and simultaneously use a wah wah
kirk whammet
Doowago Flame damn , I thought u came up with that nickname! haha
heythereFuckyou lmfao I wish
Doowago Flame I meant 'i' goddamn autocorrect haha
heythereFuckyou oh lol its cool
Can you use this pedal with bass guitar?

I have a Dime and a Big Bad Wah Wah...the first Works better in heavy metal compositions. I use the second for blues and hard rock.
I have this pedel,

Try a 12 volt power supply as opposed to 9
I have one I bought used. I opened it up becouse the pot was crackling a bit so I sprayed it with Deoxit and found a small black switch inside. What does this switch control ?
It controls the pee poop
+Jeremy Baker It's for the a/b outputs - clean or effected for the second output. Google it
No it's just controls the poop fart
Cody kholeson Interesting, you wish
the switchable outputs how do they work ?,,I mean how do you conect the cables so you can get the best sound?
How do I get his tone with those settings?
Check the guitar and amp then his fingers might have a little to do with it also.
would i be able to add distortion to this through a second effect pedal?
+josh tate Why do you think you couldn't? All pedals are made to be able to combine
I've got one it's a beast.

Great review. Sorry I didn't watch sooner.
V good review. Edgar Randolph says Yes.
Perfect. TY for the vid.
since this pedal is a buffer does it still work at the beginning of the chain? (i don't know much about pedals :p)
Zach I run this at the start and it works fine.
What is the size of the allen key?
Dude can you make a demo of that wah with the wah part of dream theater's Home?
where do they sell that crybaby wah pedal?
Does the pedal make Distortion?

Ben Weinman inspired me to nab one. hoping it sounds this nice
This or the Jerry Cantrell wah ?
can you get Joe Satriani sound with this?
Is it true bypass?
+TintiriMintiri No, but it has a great buffer
Talk about your own signature wah pedal from a signature wah pedal
"Q" is simpley the width of the, in this case, bandpass filter.
How is the build quality (for a mass produced item)? Has any screws or knobs, and such, loosen? Will they need to be replaced at some time? …Great video!
Pretty solid build- Been gigged, dropped and knocked about lots and everything is still going strong.
Thank you! …Keep up with the great videos.
Amps for Buddha thanks!
Dimebag Darrell Abbott approved it. It's solid.
I've had mine for a decade probably???? You can't destroy this thing. It is SOLID!
Thanks mate! :)
I think if Hendrix were alive to use one of these he’d love it
Check on the Jim Dunlop website and find a dealer near you! :)
I would suggest an ibanez wh 10
Nathan Explosion : and you’d be wrong.
Just to be sure, there is no modulation in say the vowel sounds, there is just variation on EQ? Oh sorry, and some fuzz.
Guys my buddy let me use this Wah cuz I have a PANTERA thing going. I can’t get it to WAH! I can’t figure it the F out!
Is it true that John Frusciante uses this pedal?
+Willmaatealrii I Apparently, but the Ibanez W10 is the one used on all the albums we/I love
He use this on stadium arcadium ( in some songs).
If i buy i'll re paint it definitely
well done!
i am so gonna get this for my John Frusciante covers
tbh the hell babe from Behringer is very similar
Sassy The sasquatch it is a cheap copy of the Dime wah it will fall apart after several uses
