Hey! This is in fact, me. Thank you for taking the time and effort to review my game, I really appreciate it. I absolutely admit I was on some shit when I was pulling orisa--my support i-know-better brain rot was especially strong during that game. Thank you for pointing out why that's a bad decision--I will not be doing that again lol. I'll also start using tree more aggressively, and use my petals more often. Thanks so much!!
Hi, something Emongg didn't mention but I noticed is that sometimes you are accidentally using LW's Dash because you're jumping around. Since LW's dash is a really important survival tool since it gives mobility AND self-healing, it's really important to try to avoid it, especially if there are enemies that are trying to pressure you, like that Sombra was. Dash is so good vs Sombra. Good luck in your games!
My motto playing Lifeweaver is "Never pull until absolutely necessary", which obviously doesn't mean I don't pull at all or make mistakes. It's just a good thought to have in the back of my head so when I actually really need to use lifegrip, I'm most likely to have the cooldown. Also timing is important because with that kind of thinking I still sometimes pull too late, either resulting in them being dead before it registers or worse I pull a teammate in front of me bc the intital target just died. Getting the hang of it over time though (also it reduces the amount of toxic teammates complaining that they got pulled even though it saved them but they are 100% certain they had that 1v4 which no, they did not)
Not done yet but I noticed they often spam heal teammates when they’re full hp/pre-heal (something I catch myself doing as well) but it’s much better to wait till they actually need the heals to conserve the ammo. There’s a weird delay between lifeweaver reload and being able to charge your heals again that you want to avoid mid fight as much as possible and being more precise with the heals you send will help that a lot
I noticed this too and the other thing they did was to mainly let the heal go around 45 hp to start another heal charge as opposed to waiting for it to get to 70 when they would more than likely actually need the healing. My duo is a genji main and I usually have a full heal in the air when he swift strikes in so that when it finally travels to him and hits him he needs it and is able to back out to LoS for more heals if not a pull to safety. His kit is so much fun and pretty versatile.
@@Drachenherz1901 Yeah, it's crazy how powerful his thorns are right now. I have done a lot of damage with Lifeweaver without it really interfering with my healing at all. Mercy at least has damage boost, so she can contribute to damage without shooting, but if you don't damage as Lifeweaver, you become the only hero in the entire game who doesn't contribute to your team's damage, which you should absolutely do. Remember, you're a support, not a healbot, and your weapon is an integral part of your kit (and his thorns are VERY poweful at the moment if you aim for the head - you can even see it in this clip by how relatively easy he took care of that Sombra by himself).
You can spam Lifeweavers secondry fire pretty good, so besides conserving healing, they should also do a bit of damage, when no heals are needed. Weaver hasnt a good kit for combat per se, but you can still do impactful damage.
As a LW main, this one was a little tough to watch lol. Petal is almost always on cooldown for me so to see this LW barely use it was a little confusing. Pulling can either be good or meh, usually the person either dies while I'm trying to pull them or another person moves in front just as I try to pull the person I'm going for making me look silly. LW has pretty good survivability and his Ult is really nice with the over health and immediate healing pulse along with LoS. I've been having a lot of fun with him but usually end up with little damage output with most heals which I'm trying to work on since he can output some decent damage.
like the other guy said tree is definitely a good time to go for dmg, another way to deal more dmg is try to switch to your thorns more often when you run out of heals instead of manually reloading. i think waiting for your heals to auto reload while dealing damage takes about a second longer than just reloading, but if the damage you’re doing is impactful then it’s worth it

This is so crazy to watch bc I’ll always be throwing petals to lift teammates to high ground or even just pre placing as a quick get away (cd starts when petals used, meaning my escape can get two petal uses meaning more escape time)
Emongg you missed a few very key components. He jumps wayyyy too much and you can see he accidently dashes a LOT compromising his position. He got hooked because he kept spamming jump and dashed into the wide open
A bit of advice, if your orisa uses gold and then you pull she'll move. If you pull and then she uses gold, it'll break your pull. Shout out to the orisa at 20hp who ulted 1v5 while i was pulling her, immediately exploding on point and teaching me and the rest of the lobby a valuable lesson.
Been playing as Rein. My input is to let the Rein try a play. Wait for it to go wrong and then pull them back. A good life weaver lets me do what I can and pulls me for the save. I have gotten so many plays and good kills because I get that one or two kills that would not work otherwise without Lifeweaver. Find the balance and yes, have a little faith in your tanks. I also just played a round of Lifeweaver and I have a lot more respect for you. It's a lot to keep in mind. Too many inputs for me.
This lifeweaver also had 0 damage the entire first round. It's okay to do some damage when nothing is happening or when you have advantage in the team fight
I remember one time I accidently pulled a mei away from her ult, I was trying to pull another teammate that was low hp but she ran in front the same time i went for a pull, and they tried to get everyone to report me for griefing lol.
I tend to hold my petal alot depending on the comp and ult charges because there is alot of ults you can counter with it (zarya, dva, orisa, mei, etc) nothing is more satisfying then watching 4 teamates get pulled in by orisas ult and then just lifting her into the air to do 0 damage lol
I am not a Lw main, but I do sometimes play as him and I do use pull when my teammates are nearby, only to use the pull as some kind of a shield. Idk if that is a smart thing to do, but mostly it works 😅
i mean the pull basically creates a hog sized ball of invincibility that flies towards you tbf. sometimes I'll pull a dps towards me If I'm alone with a winston or something.
Tbf, ive used pull to get the tank back to the team when they're going to deep into the backline or to bring a soldier who sprints 30m ahead of the team back almost as often as ive used it to actually save anyone.
He has what i like to call the 'ants in my pants' playstyle, he needs to stop jumping in cover cuz that can end in a random headshot, also he needs a HUGE lesson to learn enviromental sounds because he used the air dash to 'move swiftly' in cover when is more like an emergency heal Can't say anything positive about pulls because most looked like panic pulls Good i watched this, didnt know the tree cancel because it doesnt appear in my hud 😮
As a dva player nothing tilts me more then lw pulls. Sometimes the lw is really good, but usually I am losing my mind. Pulling me when I have jets and about to secure a kill or because they don't want me taking high ground, and then not pulling when I actually need it.
I can't count how many times I was pulled as DVa, while diving enemy backline and like leaving them with 20 hp, because LW pulled me away while I'm not even low hp, and even if I get my boosters back in time, the moment is gone... I stopped playing dive with LW, because how bad most of players on him are.
as u say urself, ppl love to push buttons. LW buttons are very awkward in this sense. not easily pushed randomly, not many scenarios to use unlike smth like nade or dash.
I also will pull people who are low behimd cover if i need to reload as LW so they stay out of the line of fire for a few seconds because i know they will die if they stay there and I'm reloading
With as many games that have been ruined for me on Doom by bad LWs who don’t understand I have THREE survivability cooldowns and am already on my way out, or farming an empowered punch with 250-300hp and slam ready, or already charging a punch which is gonna land me in the middle of nowhere if I get pulled, this is kinda cathartic to watch lol
I feel like you need to remember that not every tank uses their cool downs to survive. is it ideal that a LW pulls you unnecessarily? no, but you need to remember that's probably an instinct from hundreds of games with hundreds of tanks who don't use their cool downs properly. most support players really, really struggle with letting other people be responsible for themselves because hey, we can heal, we want to save our teammates. a hard part of initially improving as a support is learning to let your teammates die when trying to help them is the wrong play. so just remember that bad/premature/unnecessary pulls are done with the best of intentions most of the time. they just want to save you because they're not able to trust that you'll remember to save yourself, and it's not personal.
@@sethescope oh, believe me, I know that LW players are, the vast majority of the time, not trying to troll me or throw. I get that. It’s just that to me, that indicates a character design problem. LW has the ability to remove agency from his teammates in exchange for 50 hp, a temporary invulnerability, and a likely safe position; the problem is the LW is not the best player on the team to decide whether that’s a valuable play, the person being pulled is. The OTHER problem is OW is a really really hard game, all things considered-the bottom of the top 1% of players is miles worse than the top 0.1% or top 0.01% of players. So even if the LW player *were* the best person to determine whether or not a pull would be helpful, the vast majority of players are making massive mistakes every game, and doesn’t have a sufficient understanding of the game to understand when it is and is not necessary (and there is so much misinformation about how to play this game out there), and that means bad pulls are going to happen. Bad pulls are probably more fight-losing than messing up just about any other cooldown in the game, and they’re definitely more infuriating and disruptive, and the design of the ability does not set up LW players for success in that regard.
i just started playing lifeweaver and am not even close to how much "trigger happy" he is with pull holy moly but i dont really use my petals that much unless my teammate is like in a corner (so they have time to notice they safe and dont run off it) or when theres tracer genji etc after me i just petal and continue healing
They always pull me in the middle of an ultimate AFTER I CLEARLY SAY what I’m going to do with that ultimate.. SMH He’s a good hero to have on your team but only if people play him right.. I hate getting LW “mains” on my team who have no idea what they’re doing which happens to be all the time.
they didnt use tree at all in the first round....or 2nd round...they want to use it for that big life saving momemnt...and then wasted it on after the captured point sadge.
I hate lw as a tank player. 99 times out of 100 that I get pulled a single healing flower would have been enough. Like you can heal without pulling you know? And I’ve gone for plays so many times to just be shut down by my own team. Only one pull in 100 is good and appreciated
@@patrickmcdaniel5756 I hate lw as a character, I'm not mad at any particular lw player. I'm diamond on tank, and my gripe with lw is how the kit is designed to remove player agency. It's a fundamental gripe, not directed at any specific players. Ironically LW as a kit is DESIGNED to make you worry about your teammates instead of yourself so the irony in your comment is MIND BOGGLING
@@assimilater-quicktips I mean clearly the 99 out 100 is used an exaggeration, but if you are on the receiving end of what you perceive to be so many bad pulls something is wrong there. Outside of grouping in qp with metal friends or when the hero just released I dont get scenarios where I get pulled unless it's wrong target or for peel. Quite the opposite, I mean mistakes happen but you play with randoms so either you somehow get all the bad weavers, or imo something else "might" be happening. As for pull, support whatever focusing on teammates I would say the same to a weaver who says they use pull because they dont like the tanks position etc... focus on your own play because it's the only thing in every match that's constant.
@@patrickmcdaniel5756 The fact lifeweavers CAN pull me means I lose agency though, and it removes my ability to "focus on my own play" I have a friend who plays lifeweaver sometimes and it took a bit for us to get in a rhythm where he doesn't pull me needlessly or to my detriment most of the time. A random has no hope. They don't know what I'm thinking (that I have ult is something they *could* see on the scoreboard but they often are not that aware) and I can't explain the entire checklist I go through over voice chat during a match. I can only assume that you're in gm1 or t500 OR you just don't encounter a lot of lifeweavers if it's really as good as you make it seem. He's a hard hero to climb on, so I'd imagine bad pulls are punished easily in terms of sr
I hate lifeweaver players who use pull as like a mini Immortality field, just press it when the tanks low no matter how close you are. Nothings more confusing mid fight than seeing that you're being pulled and you just travel an inch to your right
It's probably not because of immortality but rather the healing output. Sometimes you have to pull the person in front of you if you need to reload. Otherwise there's no healing going out and they can die. I do it only if I've been forced behind the tank and I'm reloading when they're critical. The burst of heals on pull can sometimes allow you to reload and save the tank one more second. But that shouldn't be used often since LW is better suited for far range heals. Only times I'm right next to tank is if I'm forced there off highground or if we're backing up together. At that point shit has already hit the fan and you shouldn't be pulling any of the dps or supports into the line of fire with you. So giving the dying tank some last second healing/immort is better at that point than watching them die as you reload.
@@femtrapta5874 yeah it heals a small bit because when LW first came out his pull was actually pretty weak. Because the pull is mostly a straight line back to LW you could shoot the pulled person by following the pull line on top of that you could just wait until the pull stops and shoot them right when they get out. So it was just an easy line to your target. Like if you were shooting at a Reaper and he was down to basically one health and LW pulled him and you had good reaction timing you could just aim at the LW and kill the Reaper as he landed at the end of the pull since he didn't gain any health. They added in the immortality and healing burst so that enemies couldn't abuse the pull anymore. It was like jumping in a way. Where Widows and Hanzos capitalize on jumping targets because when you jump in the air you can't move freely so you're an easy target if the enemy has decent flicks or speed. The pull was just a long telegraphed "jump" so you easily could capitalize on it.
As a currently gold 2 lifeweaver, here's how I play: 1. immediately before round ask the likes of soldier/cass/bastion/sojourn if they want a petal during their ultimates, turret form, etc. 2. ask them if possible to somehow voice chat/ping the enemy mid fight as a sign that they don't have any escape or heal cooldowns left so i know who to prioritize saving. Grips (apart from basic low health grips): 1. Grip out dva if she gets unmeched in the middle of the enemy team. her max health is way too low to risk any 1/2 health pulls. 2. grip someone out of mei's snowstorm/gravitron (if i can't petal them out)/sigma's ult (i haven't figured out timing for the tree yet)/dva bomb's LoS/junk tire/pulse bomb/etc. you can petal an ulting orisa to just deny her completely. healing a teammate in Mauga's ult is possible without entering it if you flick your cursor above the barrier right before releasing heal, it'll cause it to arc above into the cage fight. 3. In a teamfight when two or more people get low, I grip out a squishy or support so I can temporarily ignore them and focus on healing the other low health characters. 4. to get someone to high ground like a bastion or soldier 5. hog hooks/sombra hack&virus/genji dives/winston dive/dives in general 6. when mei is forced into her ice block in the middle of the enemy 7. did this recently but pulling in bob when he gets orisa spinned/rein charged out of position. 8. obviously if they fall down illios well/rialto bridge/etc. it's really buggy though. they either get caught on the ledge or once dragged through the damn floor. petal: 1. immediately near me/others to get to high ground, or leave on the ground as a winston/sombra/genji escape pad. 2. petal teams out of gravitron surge (i did this twice in one round once, don't think the enemy zarya ever got one off lol). 4. petal stunned/frozen/slept enemies (shatter/snowstorm/sleep, etc). petaling someone on a junk trap won't release them, but it can get them out of LoS of the enemy. 5. petal an ulting junkrat or bastion in case they get dived on. 6. petal bob works surprisingly well. if its an enemy bob in the middle of the fight petal him up creating safe zone under him. if its a friendly bob decently far away petal him up for LoS. 7. as a basic shield tbh. unless i'm alone people just start ignoring me and go after other characters instead of breaking the petal. 8. I've seen ReformedRavi do this but petaling a mercy away from their rez/petaling a hog right after he hooks to deny the one shot. I haven't been able to replicate these yet. 9. somehow if your heals are at 0, you can get another for free by throwing out a petal while charging heals simultaneously. 10. I have no idea if this is a bug/random fluke/particular circumstance required, but sometimes I have managed to hold the payload while standing on my petal above it. shift: really only a couple uses. basic health regen. getting out of spawn slightly faster. getting far away from enemies such that when I petal they can't follow me up. speed burst so i can get in LoS fast enough to heal/grip/tree. tree: either right in the middle of a teamfight. off to the side/in a doorway to block a side-path so we don't get flanked. (if the doorway is too wide, place it on either side to force a narrower choke). trap someone so they can't retreat, like on the side stairs up from circuit royal after first point. behind the tank so their supports have to move around more. btw you can cancel it if unneeded to build back ult charge faster. you can't build trees while it's up. thorn volley: surprisingly high damage if you can hit your shots. Just aim roughly at head height and jiggle around. 1. spam chokes/dive characters if you don't have an escape option. 2. random sombra sprays. 3. if your team gets a sleep/shatter/gravitron/etc. 4. spray widows/anas/ashes. they don't move around much when scoped in so its a decent way to kill time until you auto reload. 5. around 20-40 bullets is enough for your heals to reloard. 4. last ditch overtime solo until your team gets back. I managed to hold havana defense first point with my tree just hopping around like this.
I can’t watch this. I hate life weaver. Some of them are great, but most of them have no aim and no game sense and actively throw my games. I hate that character so much. Don’t pull me. Just heal and leave me alone.
It also said saved soldier yet soldier died. It was a pretty bad grip. As long as you have basic reaction time, you can wait out and see if the Ana can survive turning the corner. You don't know if shes got Nade to top herself off and make it easier to keep her alive with the increased healing, or if she can land a sleep dart. As LW you have to just be patient and pull when you need to after assessing the situation instead of assuming you know better or else you get pulls like what he did most of the match.
@@Saoshinkidyou’re tripping. you listen enemy Soldier ulting, you see your Ana and Soldier is in their sights: who do you keep alive? Ana. She has no mobility AND she can help you keep your teammates alive. Soldier can sprint, in fact, he was close to a healthpack and cover, but instead, he decides to fight the enemy Soldier with aim bot. That’s why he died, not because Lifeweaver didn’t do his job. He saved Ana. Grip is meant to do that: Get teammates in better position to save them. He did that. That’s what matters. Was a good grip.

Imagine that ulting soldier up there with a petal
1st round’s last pull was baaad. It fucked up the Ram.
12:12 I would've tree'd to give orisa some more health while blocking off the junk
You get really good at causing C9s for your team with Lifeweaver.
When you pull them they get angry and go back in with even less thinking than before😅
He has what i like to call the 'ants in my pants' playstyle, he needs to stop jumping in cover cuz that can end in a random headshot, also he needs a HUGE lesson to learn enviromental sounds because he used the air dash to 'move swiftly' in cover when is more like an emergency heal
Can't say anything positive about pulls because most looked like panic pulls
Good i watched this, didnt know the tree cancel because it doesnt appear in my hud 😮
As a dva player nothing tilts me more then lw pulls. Sometimes the lw is really good, but usually I am losing my mind. Pulling me when I have jets and about to secure a kill or because they don't want me taking high ground, and then not pulling when I actually need it.
Why wouldn't they want you taking hogh ground? D.VAs whole gimmick is being able to harrass enemy highground. She can litterally fly ffs!
100% would have reported this person for trolling if I was the tank. lol
someday im gonna play a ranked game and submit it. i feel so much out of place but gonna wait for season 9 now 😂
I can't count how many times I was pulled as DVa, while diving enemy backline and like leaving them with 20 hp, because LW pulled me away while I'm not even low hp, and even if I get my boosters back in time, the moment is gone... I stopped playing dive with LW, because how bad most of players on him are.
as u say urself, ppl love to push buttons. LW buttons are very awkward in this sense. not easily pushed randomly, not many scenarios to use unlike smth like nade or dash.
i use petal CONSTANTLY as LW, them barely using it is confusing to me😭
This video hurts to watch. Emongg losing hair over this one😂😂😂
I also will pull people who are low behimd cover if i need to reload as LW so they stay out of the line of fire for a few seconds because i know they will die if they stay there and I'm reloading
Lifeweaver Petal is almost like Zarya Bubble how you always want one ready to go
With as many games that have been ruined for me on Doom by bad LWs who don’t understand I have THREE survivability cooldowns and am already on my way out, or farming an empowered punch with 250-300hp and slam ready, or already charging a punch which is gonna land me in the middle of nowhere if I get pulled, this is kinda cathartic to watch lol
Tbf there aren't enough Doom players to learn how to play with him.
@@zarlus8 Doom has been one of the higher pick rate tanks ever since his seismic slam cd was reduced to 6s
SMH
He’s a good hero to have on your team but only if people play him right.. I hate getting LW “mains” on my team who have no idea what they’re doing which happens to be all the time.
Where can i leave my vod to review
I Love the green screen
its VIDEO time!!
ITS VIDEO TIMEEEEEE
they didnt use tree at all in the first round....or 2nd round...they want to use it for that big life saving momemnt...and then wasted it on after the captured point sadge.
I hate lw as a tank player. 99 times out of 100 that I get pulled a single healing flower would have been enough. Like you can heal without pulling you know? And I’ve gone for plays so many times to just be shut down by my own team. Only one pull in 100 is good and appreciated
You either attract trolls or play at a rank where you should focus more on your own mistakes then your lws.
@@patrickmcdaniel5756 The fact lifeweavers CAN pull me means I lose agency though, and it removes my ability to "focus on my own play"
I have a friend who plays lifeweaver sometimes and it took a bit for us to get in a rhythm where he doesn't pull me needlessly or to my detriment most of the time.
@@whoahanant His pull heals? Like Kiri Suzu? Damn I didnt know that, thanks
@@whoahanant Pull didnt even have immortality back then??? I knew he was awful and jank on release but damn...
idk why this video did so poorly, it is well made 😢
As a currently gold 2 lifeweaver, here's how I play:
1. immediately before round ask the likes of soldier/cass/bastion/sojourn if they want a petal during their ultimates, turret form, etc.
2. ask them if possible to somehow voice chat/ping the enemy mid fight as a sign that they don't have any escape or heal cooldowns left so i know who to prioritize saving.
Grips (apart from basic low health grips):
4. to get someone to high ground like a bastion or soldier
5. hog hooks/sombra hack&virus/genji dives/winston dive/dives in general
6. when mei is forced into her ice block in the middle of the enemy
7. did this recently but pulling in bob when he gets orisa spinned/rein charged out of position.
8. obviously if they fall down illios well/rialto bridge/etc. it's really buggy though. they either get caught on the ledge or once dragged through the damn floor.
petal:
1. immediately near me/others to get to high ground, or leave on the ground as a winston/sombra/genji escape pad.
2. petal teams out of gravitron surge (i did this twice in one round once, don't think the enemy zarya ever got one off lol).
4. petal stunned/frozen/slept enemies (shatter/snowstorm/sleep, etc).
petaling someone on a junk trap won't release them, but it can get them out of LoS of the enemy.
5. petal an ulting junkrat or bastion in case they get dived on.
6. petal bob works surprisingly well. if its an enemy bob in the middle of the fight petal him up creating safe zone under him. if its a friendly bob decently far away petal him up for LoS.
7. as a basic shield tbh. unless i'm alone people just start ignoring me and go after other characters instead of breaking the petal.
10. I have no idea if this is a bug/random fluke/particular circumstance required, but sometimes I have managed to hold the payload while standing on my petal above it.
shift:
really only a couple uses.
basic health regen.
getting out of spawn slightly faster.
getting far away from enemies such that when I petal they can't follow me up.
speed burst so i can get in LoS fast enough to heal/grip/tree.
tree:
either right in the middle of a teamfight.
off to the side/in a doorway to block a side-path so we don't get flanked.
Holy shit, how is this gold? The cd usage is just a crime…
I just cannot get used to the horrible green-screening ;(
My god this life weaver player triggered me so hard. 😂😂
I can’t watch this. I hate life weaver. Some of them are great, but most of them have no aim and no game sense and actively throw my games. I hate that character so much. Don’t pull me. Just heal and leave me alone.
the problem with lifeweaver is even when a lifeweaver makes a good pull on me it still doesnt feel good to be pulled
It’s beyond me how metal rank supports have such slow reactions
Man yea when u get pulled too much and for no reason. I just leave the game
Day 22 I’m on my knees begging wear a green shirt for a video
Wifeleaver behaviour
Life weaver pull is just as strong if not stronger than Kiris suszu
objectively untrue. pull only affects one target. suzu can affect up to five targets. LW also cannot use pull on himself.
How on earth little bro is in gold playing like that? He looks like he must be in aluminum 5
Because lw healbot gets you places pretty fast lol
4:00 wasn’t a bad grip btw. he literally saved the Ana. you can literally see “Saved Ana”.
Firstt
glorified heal bot.. and not a very good one
