Country music is American made music and the best in my humble opinion.SML is one of the best comedy shows ever that I’ve watched my whole life, not every episode here lately but I catch it when I can.
Went to see her a few years back, after being introduced to her by this performance. Was halfway through the opening act before I realized she was their drummer!
I love Margo and her husband Jeremy Ivey's music. My husband and I just bought the Stray's II CD and read Margo's memoir "Maybe We'll Make It" and they are both remarkable. Highly recommend.
Saw her on my recommended topics next to Sturgill and Jason Isbell. I thought to myself, "If she's anything like those two fine gentlemen, she gets my stamp of approval." So far it's been good.
Not a single comment and only 4,000 views? We all know SNL has been mostly garbage for decades, but is it so unpopular that this awesome musician can't get any views? Wow.
She puts on a GREAT SHOW. When she comes to your area go see her. You will not regret your investment of time, money, and energy!! And to quote Steve Martin "You might actually come out ahead on this show."
She's taping the first episode of this season's Austin City Limits this Sunday at 8pm central time, and they are live streaming it! I know I will be tuning in.
Unless you have Sirrius satellite radio channel 60, we are deprived of country music on the radio. Country music does not exist on the radio. Full stop. Pop is pop, if you like pop, good for you, but don't for one second call it country. Commercial "country" radio infuriates me, I can't stand it. 1 song in a hundred is good, but I am not willing to listen to 99 pieces of pop crap, to get to the one new country that has some lyrical depth and musicianship. Country radio is a wasteland of infuriating pop garbage. I was on "suicide watch", until I discovered Sirrious channel 60. Now I can have 2016 musical memories with new country music. Margo Price is the real deal, but you won't hear her on the "country" radio. So sad.
Agree but there's good stuff online too. Checkout WDVX.com out of Knoxville, TN and they're on TuneIn as well - nice mix of alt country, americana, bluegrass, traditional country, roots .... you'll get the picture.
I don’t hear much of an accent with her singing but she’s lived in Nashville for over 15 years so it wouldn’t be surprising if she picked up a bit of an accent.
This comment is hilarious to me. She’s from Aledo Illinois, which has a population of less than 4,000 people and is far from Northern Illinois. I’ve lived in the same area my whole life and I gotta tell you, this area runs on nothing but agriculture, livestock and hard work. She may not be “Southern” but that woman is most definitely country.
So, if you're punk, do you have to be from 1970s London? If you're hip-hop do you have to be from Atlanta, or New York? If you're alternative do you have to be from Athens, GA or San Francisco?
Margo is the one to finally convince me to give country music a real shot. Thank you, Anthony Bourdain for telling me about her.

Wow she is so talented.. I'm not even a "country music" enthusiast but this woman has such a soulful voice!!
This is how I found out about Margo. I stayed up to see her second performance and I've been a fan ever since!
Just finished reading her memoir, "Maybe We'll Make It." "Gritty" does not begin to describe it. What a songwriter, what a band!
And she's gorgeous! I had to put a face to that amazing voice. Not disappointed
This sounds like a song Haggard would write. Such a classic-feel with a beautiful voice.
This gal is the real deal. Country needs more artists like this. I feel like I'm listening to music like I did 40 years ago
reminds me of many of the greats. Nails every note.

At 3:53 the guitar player plays a lick from the song Mama Tried by Merle Haggard, if anybody was curious.
She's got ALOT of Hag influence. Waylon, too.
, sublime
That is why JW picked her up. He knows talent.
He died that week, so it was probably out of respect.
Good call, bongolow and HokieDadave.

Sounds so much like the Dolly Parton version to me. Love this song though
The real deal. Somewhere Chuck Mead is smiling.
Chuck Mead and Margo Price, double bill at the Bottleneck. Wouldn't that be sweet?

@@dparenti1446 Thanks for the WDVX recommendation
8 people should go stand on the freeway
She’s from Northern Illinois. Her country singing accent is an act. She’s about as down-home country as that Australian fella.
Love Margo Ive seen her live several times. She's the real deal

What a load of BS. Where the hell you get the idea you have to be Southern to be country?
