They fought this fire like this home was a family members, the sense of urgency was refreshing. Notice that no one is standing around looking for direction and the fire engineers are proactively providing support and equipment. This is a textbook example of a well trained crew.
Agree on all but one thing. "safety" The two pulling hose close to the entry point were not bunkered up. They had no business working up close to the fire without full gear.

Chief here...one word - superb! Fast attack, preparation, teamwork, not a lot of giving of orders...they knew exactly what to do, and exactly how to do it. Superb are you kidding. Kicking the door in and taking it off the hinge reduces to ability to control the opening air flow. Secondly they didn't have a secure water supply. If that is what you call superb you don't need to be a chief.
I was a volunteer firefighter for almost 10 years. This is an example of a well-trained, highly motivated, organized and efficient Fire Department. Highest compliments to the training officer, chief, captain, engineer and firefighters! Well done! You make us proud and grateful! The first thing, after securing the utilities (electric, gas) is to assess the incident. In this case a single-dwelling, without any initial exposure problems with adjoining structures. The first concern is an internal attack. That is more important than using a "deck gun". We called them "master streams" or "deluge", I've not heard "deck gun". Regardless, the internal entry is more important in the initial attack, since the crews arrived early on. The reason is to do a search for people that may be inside the structure. That is not done with an external attack. I'm sure you are aware that using a "deck gun" does not reach the base of the fire. In this case an internal attack can put the fire out at the base. In this scenario and external attack is supplemental. It would not have put out the fire. Also, there is the problem of water damage by a high pressure stream that, in this case, would have caused more property damage. Your assessment may be premature in another regard. The incident commander may have felt the water supply was inadequate. We both don't know. Since you and I were not there we should give those on scene some credit. Yes, there was a snorkel unit available. However, the fire was relatively small, the attack was quick, the fire was knocked down by an efficient crew. I stand by my original comment, from a year ago. This crew did an excellent job. I beg to differ with your opinion. If you have a better explanation, I'll listen.

While you are doing that, people are dying, and property is being destroyed. "The first concern is an internal attack." TIME! You never explained WHY an interior attack is more important than turning off combustion. The Deck Gun could shut off most of the combustion in that end room before you could get fully dressed let alone assemble and entry team, pull a hose and get the front door open. That upper floor was an inferno, a blast furnace of energy. If you Just do an interior attack, you are opening the front door, which becomes a Pressure Release Location, and you have to walk up the stairs and try to eliminate that energy as you go. Your water stream will go up and the heat will want to come down into your face if it can't get out the windows fast enough. You can protect victims by eliminating most of the threat with an exterior attack rather than allowing the fire to burn and get bigger while you search a smoke filled and unfamiliar structure in order to pull them out. In their night cloths while you are fully protected. 2. The water from the DG will explode when it hits the hole in the roof, the jamb and header of the window and the ceiling and wall. It will fill that room with a cloud of water which will cool the space considerably. All that while the entry crew is still pulling up their pants. The water stream would not have caused any damage to the attic and fully involved room. The pressure Is adjustable for the specific needs. 3. That fire, like most residential fires, could have been extinguished using the 500 gallons of tank water they Should have brought with them. Even considering using the DG for 5-10 seconds which is all that would be needed considering the Line of Sight it had. We should never give the Commander any credit for thinking and acting correctly as 95% of USA department leaders have no clue what the Right way is. These videos Prove that if you have the ability to evaluate what you see. And you can see more than enough to do that. Getting the job done Eventually is of no help to victims and property. 4. TIME, is something nobody takes into consideration! Turn your oven up to 500 degrees and then stick your arm in there and tell me how long you can keep it there. That is close to the temperature of the radiant heat a victim is experiencing from the 1700-degree flames. The radiant heat from the smoke alone would kill them. When you arrive, you have to look for the Visible Burning Material and turn off combustion as soon as possible by using the tools that will do that the quickest. The Deck Gun and a Booster line or the correct length 1-3/4" line. The last one, nobody ever takes into consideration what a mess they are creating when they pull a 300-foot line to reach a 60-foot fire. Actually, it was closer to 1:20 for the line to be fully charged, with water on the fire in about 2 minutes, which is great considering it appears to be an attic fire.

I used to live off Utica and 21st, My one time needing Tulsa Fire, I was extremely impressed with them. Glad to see that nothing has changed after 10 years.
I love the sound of all the different trucks coming, you can hear the sirens coming from everywhere as they all overlap and make different tones. It's like a pack of wolves howling.
That was one of the fastest time I've seen on video on how they charged the line, and that one guy with a couple of kicks broke down that door. Great job for the fire fighters in Tulsa. They been well trained well.
I agree. I’m only an armchair firefighter, but I’ve watched many of these type videos where I get so nervous at how long it seems to take some of the firefighters to finally put water on the fire, meanwhile the house is pretty much burned to the ground. This fire department did a great job in my opinion. God bless these guys, and all firefighters for what they chose to do for a living.

They jumped out of the firetruck already geared up! They pulled the hose out immediately and put water on the fire. And they took care of one another. The chief deserves to be recognized for having a very competent fire department!!

@@krob3831 You can get buttoned up enroute. That's why I always had my gear next to the truck. My boots and pants by the step and my coat and helmet hanging close by. That way, I could at least get into my boots and throw the coat on loosely before sitting down. If we knew it was a confirmed fire, We would button up our gear and get our packs on, ready to rock n roll. This was a well coordinated and very professional job. I am very impressed by how efficiently they knocked this fire down.
I am a retired firefighter (captain) from a fire department just south of Houston, TX, and will say Tulsa FD impressed me more than 90 percent of fire departments on this fire! Very impressive attack and control! Great job TFD!

No ' pikemen ' bursting windows , no ' chainsaw-men ' ' slicing up ' the roof , no fiddle around wasting time , no 30+ ' squad team ' standing around outside doing nothing and no ' chief's with little tables doing ' battle planning '. Just a little group of very well trained firefighters that know excately what to do. All well geared up and fast kicking in the door and get the lines inside and put the fire out . This is how it's done , nice fast and well organiced . This video should stand as a learning video to show how it's done .

All becase they did as I described. my point was if they have done as they did here it would end with results as here. But too in too many cases they ' battleplan ' instead of fighting fire . rule 1 - get water on the burning stuff as fast as possible so it doesn't spread . ------------------------------------------------------------------- Im not going into a long discussion about this , instead I will say you can see this by yourself in those many many videos from other departments such as FDNY . I watch alot of these videos, and I've seen some very slow firefighters before, but these guys are NOT one of them. With in 30 sec of arrival someone is kicking the door down, about 1 min later the hose is connected to the fire hydrogen and truck and charged and ready to spray. No thinking, no watching, no standing around, they just went at it like a bat out of hell. Great job guys
@@dwightashmore6252 maybe they decided it wasn't safe enough to get on the roof. Ever thought of that?. Plus TFD is one of the best fire departments in the nation. Hell, since like the 20s up until the 90s, TFD was rated the #1 fire department in the country by the NFPA.

What a change to see, straight in, all fire gear on when they arrive, no putting on coats and helmets, water going almost at once! These guys are GOOD. these guys are well trained. from setting the brakes to a charged line going in the front door in 60 seconds. no standing around, no getting suited up on the lawn. focused and ready to go as the truck stopped. well done.

That was a ballsy move, launching an interior attack and S&R straight off the first truck, and they probably saved half that house doing it. Amazing job by Tulsa firefighters here and especially Engine 18's crew. They way more than earned their pay that night.
No not a total loss the house still stands and is beautiful again thanks to those fire fighters knocking it down so quickly! It was recently sold and has a new family.
I've watched several T.F.D vids...Tulsa absolutely kicks ass on fire scenes! Well organized, everyone knows exactly what they need to do, water on the fire QUICK, and insanely quick knock-downs!
I've been watching quite q few of these videos recently and I must say Hats off to these firefighters! I have seen such fast action. Guy is out of the truck with the door down in 30 seconds flat and water was started within a minute of arrival. Great job!
Aaaah. Finally a department that goes after the source of the fire rather than just spraying water on the roof's visible flames! This is how we attacked house fires in my old department.
You have to give Fire Fighters a lot of credit.... it takes a special mindset to intentionally walk into a flaming building. This video shows one of the most efficient operations that I have seen on UA-cam... they had the fire knocked down in just minutes of arrival.... and from the INSIDE!

Congratulations from Germany. At the beginning of the video, I thought the house could not be saved. And when the emergency services will arrive, they will first spray onto the roof from the outside. (Prejudices ). But I was wrong. These firefighters did a really good job.
Inside fires need inside water. With there being no delay getting a hoseline inside it would be the wrong tactic to put water on it from the outside. Reason for this is, several fold. This would change the survivability profile inside. Two, it is hard to get to the solid fuels from outside so when you go to transition inside, the fire almost always rebounds. Putting water on it from the outside in this case would cause a delay getting water inside where the victims need us to be. Hope this helps. The UL and NIST have done a lot of research on so many things in the last few years to help us be more efficient and save lives. All the studies are available online free of charge. They are proving what works and what does not work. Debunking a lot of the old things we were taught. I highly recommend watching the videos.

This is the way you fight a house fire! This is a well trained group of men! Notice when they got off the truck...ALL of them were in beast mode and ready to attack the situation...and they did! Less than 9 minutes on scene and fire contained...Awesome. Excellent Aggressive Attack. A perfect example of how every fire department should approach a fire. Entry gained and one line in in 2 minutes, two lines in less than 4 minutes and 5 fireman in, and very quickly fire extinguished. It don't get much better than this and a little time to recover after. A good text book way of fire fighting. Great video footage as well.

I have often thought about, especially watching really big fires, about the "platter of spaghetti" looking hoses that are everywhere, and then it all has to be sorted back out and put back away for the next fire! Big Job to do after just putting a Structure Fire out!
My front yard had fire hose stretched out like spaghetti when my camper burned down. They probably could have saved it if it wasn't for the ammo that was stored in it. It went off worse than fireworks.

The wiggles they all do when their motion sensing alarms (not sure what they’re called) go off is so funny to me. These badass firefighters just suddenly do a little shimmy and I love it😂
Those are called pass alarms, and you will get every firefighter in earshot yelling at you if you leave it going for too long lol, it happens to all of us. They are very sensitive to lack of motion which is the whole point. They are designed to help locate downed firefighters.

I remember seeing a video about firefighters on 9/11 and one of the comments mentioned all the “smoke alarms” heard in the background. Someone corrected them to say that it was actually the trapped firefighter’s pass alarms continuing to go off for hours on end and when I read that it made my heart sink. I can’t imagine hearing those go off, knowing they were your fellow firefighters in harms way, but realizing there was little the rest of them could do. :(

I've watch so many firefighter videos and they go so unbelievably slow to fire, mainly in the name of safety. However this group had everything down. The speed, their roles and action plan showed their efficiency. Quite amazing.

Having been through a fire (my worst nightmare and caused by an incompetent person who lives below me) I commend these firefighters for a job well done. No sane person wakes up in the morning (or goes to bed at night) thinking let’s start a fire to see how much havoc we can reach. Well done firefighters in this video!
Greetings from the UK, if you guys are volunteers (retained in the UK) you were very professional at what you did, a lot of full time Ff's could take a leaf out of your book on how the job should be done. Your officers had faith in you to go and knock down the fire, unlike some officers who prefer to stand outside, play it safe and watch the structure burn to ground you guys didn't, well done.

Seen a TON of these types of videos and I will say this was one of the most professional by far!! Everyone knew exactly what there job was and did it. First engine arrival and hose was being pulled and water supplied in under 2 minutes. The lack of YELLING!!!!!!! was refreshing. Yelling mean you don't know what you're doing. Great job all round.
What a great impressive job by the Tulsa FD. Wonderful job guys how fast you were. I have seen fires where over 5 minutes pass before water is applied and the structure is pretty much gone
That was a beautiful home. Its always a good idea to have ibc water totes to store water.. A good honda pump and a good size hose... You can definitely take care of any fire.
Please do not go inside and try to fight a fire yourself unless you are trained and have proper protective equipment. Instead of a house fire, the FD will have a rescue situation as their first priority! If you want to try to fight it from outside, well maybe. But don't think 200 gallons of water and a hose will keep you safe. Until you have actually been inside a burning building, you have no idea what it's like. It is nothing like the TV shows!

If you Just do an interior attack, you are opening the front door, which becomes a Pressure Release Location, and you have to walk up the stairs and try to eliminate that energy as you go. Your water stream will go up and the heat will want to come down into your face if it can't get out the windows fast enough.
You can protect victims by eliminating most of the threat with an exterior attack rather than allowing the fire to burn and get bigger while you search a smoke filled and unfamiliar structure in order to pull them out. In their night cloths while you are fully protected.
2. The water from the DG will explode when it hits the hole in the roof, the jamb and header of the window and the ceiling and wall. It will fill that room with a cloud of water which will cool the space considerably. All that while the entry crew is still pulling up their pants. The water stream would not have caused any damage to the attic and fully involved room. The pressure Is adjustable for the specific needs.
3. That fire, like most residential fires, could have been extinguished using the 500 gallons of tank water they Should have brought with them. Even considering using the DG for 5-10 seconds which is all that would be needed considering the Line of Sight it had. We should never give the Commander any credit for thinking and acting correctly as 95% of USA department leaders have no clue what the Right way is. These videos Prove that if you have the ability to evaluate what you see. And you can see more than enough to do that.
Getting the job done Eventually is of no help to victims and property.
4. TIME, is something nobody takes into consideration! Turn your oven up to 500 degrees and then stick your arm in there and tell me how long you can keep it there. That is close to the temperature of the radiant heat a victim is experiencing from the 1700-degree flames. The radiant heat from the smoke alone would kill them. When you arrive, you have to look for the Visible Burning Material and turn off combustion as soon as possible by using the tools that will do that the quickest. The Deck Gun and a Booster line or the correct length 1-3/4" line. The last one, nobody ever takes into consideration what a mess they are creating when they pull a 300-foot line to reach a 60-foot fire. This is how you approach, and fight fires the responsible way.

I used to live off Utica and 21st, My one time needing Tulsa Fire, I was extremely impressed with them. Glad to see that nothing has changed after 10 years.
I love the sound of all the different trucks coming, you can hear the sirens coming from everywhere as they all overlap and make different tones. It's like a pack of wolves howling.
That was one of the fastest time I've seen on video on how they charged the line, and that one guy with a couple of kicks broke down that door. Great job for the fire fighters in Tulsa. They been well trained well.

I’m only an armchair firefighter, but I’ve watched many of these type videos where I get so nervous at how long it seems to take some of the firefighters to finally put water on the fire, meanwhile the house is pretty much burned to the ground. This fire department did a great job in my opinion. God bless these guys, and all firefighters for what they chose to do for a living.

They jumped out of the firetruck already geared up! They pulled the hose out immediately and put water on the fire. And they took care of one another. The chief deserves to be recognized for having a very competent fire department!!

@@krob3831 You can get buttoned up enroute. That's why I always had my gear next to the truck. My boots and pants by the step and my coat and helmet hanging close by. That way, I could at least get into my boots and throw the coat on loosely before sitting down. If we knew it was a confirmed fire, We would button up our gear and get our packs on, ready to rock n roll.

I watch alot of these videos, and I've seen some very slow firefighters before, but these guys are NOT one of them. With in 30 sec of arrival someone is kicking the door down, about 1 min later the hose is connected to the fire hydrogen and truck and charged and ready to spray. No thinking, no watching, no standing around, they just went at it like a bat out of hell. Great job guys

That was a ballsy move, launching an interior attack and S&R straight off the first truck, and they probably saved half that house doing it. Amazing job by Tulsa firefighters here and especially Engine 18's crew. They way more than earned their pay that night.

I've been watching quite q few of these videos recently and I must say Hats off to these firefighters! I have seen such fast action. Guy is out of the truck with the door down in 30 seconds flat and water was started within a minute of arrival. Great job!

You have to give Fire Fighters a lot of credit.... it takes a special mindset to intentionally walk into a flaming building. This video shows one of the most efficient operations that I have seen on UA-cam... they had the fire knocked down in just minutes of arrival.... and from the INSIDE!

Congratulations from Germany. At the beginning of the video, I thought the house could not be saved. And when the emergency services will arrive, they will first spray onto the roof from the outside. (Prejudices ). But I was wrong. These firefighters did a really good job.

Inside fires need inside water. With there being no delay getting a hoseline inside it would be the wrong tactic to put water on it from the outside. Reason for this is, several fold. This would change the survivability profile inside. Two, it is hard to get to the solid fuels from outside so when you go to transition inside, the fire almost always rebounds. Putting water on it from the outside in this case would cause a delay getting water inside where the victims need us to be. Hope this helps. The UL and NIST have done a lot of research on so many things in the last few years to help us be more efficient and save lives. All the studies are available online free of charge. They are proving what works and what does not work. Debunking a lot of the old things we were taught. I highly recommend watching the videos.

Less than 9 minutes on scene and fire contained...Awesome. Excellent Aggressive Attack. A perfect example of how every fire department should approach a fire. Entry gained and one line in in 2 minutes, two lines in less than 4 minutes and 5 fireman in, and very quickly fire extinguished. It don't get much better than this and a little time to recover after. A good text book way of fire fighting. Great video footage as well.
Most people don't realize that these crews have another hour of work when they get back to the station readying the truck for the next run.
Not to mention a few with salvage and overhaul after its out lol

I have often thought about, especially watching really big fires, about the "platter of spaghetti" looking hoses that are everywhere, and then it all has to be sorted back out and put back away for the next fire! Big Job to do after just putting a Structure Fire out!
My front yard had fire hose stretched out like spaghetti when my camper burned down. They probably could have saved it if it wasn't for the ammo that was stored in it. It went off worse than fireworks.
A good chauffer always knows where the hose goes and how much pressure he/she should be pumping!!!

The wiggles they all do when their motion sensing alarms (not sure what they’re called) go off is so funny to me. These badass firefighters just suddenly do a little shimmy and I love it😂
Those are called pass alarms, and you will get every firefighter in earshot yelling at you if you leave it going for too long lol, it happens to all of us. They are very sensitive to lack of motion which is the whole point. They are designed to help locate downed firefighters.

I remember seeing a video about firefighters on 9/11 and one of the comments mentioned all the “smoke alarms” heard in the background. Someone corrected them to say that it was actually the trapped firefighter’s pass alarms continuing to go off for hours on end and when I read that it made my heart sink. I can’t imagine hearing those go off, knowing they were your fellow firefighters in harms way, but realizing there was little the rest of them could do. :(

First engine arrival and hose was being pulled and water supplied in under 2 minutes. The lack of YELLING!!!!!!! was refreshing. Yelling mean you don't know what you're doing. Great job all round.
What a great impressive job by the Tulsa FD. Wonderful job guys how fast you were. I have seen fires where over 5 minutes pass before water is applied and the structure is pretty much gone
That was a beautiful home. Its always a good idea to have ibc water totes to store water.. A good honda pump and a good size hose... You can definitely take care of any fire.
Please do not go inside and try to fight a fire yourself unless you are trained and have proper protective equipment. Instead of a house fire, the FD will have a rescue situation as their first priority! If you want to try to fight it from outside, well maybe. But don't think 200 gallons of water and a hose will keep you safe. Until you have actually been inside a burning building, you have no idea what it's like. It is nothing like the TV shows!
