After a long wait, the Expanded Universe chronicler uploads another video detailing the events of Luke Skywalker rebuilding the Jedi Order from the ashes along with dealing with an extragalactical ememies.
Luke accomplished what previous reformists failed. What I don't understand is why it took this long. Why did it take so long ? Also, if "Kingdom Hearts" crossovered with EU, what era would you prefer to be crossovered with ? I'd like "Knights of the Old Republic". But the Vong's invasion is an option too.
@@JabamiLain 1. Because rebuilding a Jedi Order's demands time and resources, and train new jedi to become Jedi Knights and Jedi Masters took years and years to be accomplished. And, to be fair, Luke starts his journey almost alone for a couple of years, he just became master in 10 ABY and starts his crusade to build a jedi academy in 11 ABY to 12 ABY. But just the Jedi Academy was not enough to declare it as Jedi Order, he needs a Council, composed by formed masters, and again this demands time and resources; 2. I've probably wand every single EU (aka Legends) era possible! Especially Old Republic ones: Tales of the Jedi, Knights of the Old Republic and The Old Republic; with characters like Nomi Sunrider, Ulic Qel Droma, Oss Willum, Exar Kun, Bastila Shan, Darth Revan, Darth Malak, Kreia, Darth Nihilus, Darth Sion, the Exile, Atton, Satelle Shan, Darth Malgus, Volkorion, etc. and the post Return of the Jedi eras, in particular the New Jedi Order, with Luke Skywalker, Mara Jade Skywalker, Kyle Katarn, Jaden Korr, Jaina Solo, Ben Skywalker, Kyp Durron, Kam Salusar, Corran Horn, Kirana Ti, Tenel Ka Djo, etc.
True. Although, I think the story after the Vong went somewhat downhill. They should have merged Abeloth and Caedus' storyline. I think it would have done wonders. I also think they approached the story of Meetra and Revan poorly.
I remember starting to watch the timeline videos during my first college semester, and now I'm about to begin my last. It's nearly done and I look forward to the last episode.
Great video Tadd-Larkin, really enjoy your timeline videos. Glad the commissioned art of Nyax facing Luke, Mara and Tahiri made an appearance, TalonArt did an amazing job on that one. Seeing the inaccurate 'official' artwork of Nyax again reminds me why I commission lore accurate art so it can be of use to fans wanting to see how characters are described in the books correctly.
This period becomes even more interesting when you actually consider the in-universe historical context. The Vong wouldn't have been able to last even a few months had they invaded in prior eras of the timeline, especially during the dark times (Nom Anor stated the Empire would have instantly anihilated them with basically no effort in the "Traitor" novel). That's largely why they waited all those years since arriving at the fringes of the SW Galaxy (other reason being their own preparations of course). The 2 decades of chaos throughout the Galactic Civil War and the young and fragile nature of the New Republic was what truly gave them an opening afyerwards. So the Vong War is actually part of the costs that the Galaxy had to pay for ending Sidious' reign. It was probably still worth it, considering what Palps planned to do after crushing the Rebels.
The Vong are a very fascinating species. I admit I always had a thing for Spartan like societies. I think the story after the Vong went somewhat downhill. They should have merged Abeloth and Caedus' storyline. I think it would have done wonders.

Quick question, and sorry if it's not related to this video, specifically. If Dooku had Revan and Meetra as historical role models to follow, do you think even if he fell, maybe he'd have resisted Sidious' influence more ? Doing his own thing more ? Could have perhaps changed a lot of things. In my fic, Revan and Meetra follow their own path of absolute neutrality, instead of rebuilding the Jedi or taking over the Sith. They do what I like to call the "proto-Separatist" movement, as they use the Rakata and their government as part of their funding for their new order.

I just had a conversation with someone on Discord who states that you got information wrong on your video "The Truth About the Expanded Universe and the Expanded Universe Movement." He claims that you were wrong about the notion that Lucas approved the Dark Empire storyline. Apparently, in recent years, Lucas has said that he never like the idea, though I've heard reports that he did initially. I would argue that maybe Lucas mis-remembered or that he had different plans when Dark Empire was written. Still, though, Lucas never de-canonized the story, even before Disney took over. Here's some more examples of what he said: "Now he’s repeated the falsehood that Lucas stepped in to save Quinlan Vos from dying in the comics." "He also thinks Obi Wan talking about 'that business on Cato Nemoidia' is a reference to Labyrinth of Evil, not realizing the reason 'that business' is detailed on the book is because the script came before the book and Luceno is referencing the films, not the other way around. That’s like saying Empire Strikes Back references the comics because the comics did a story about the Bounty Hunter in Ord Mantell." "JFC, now he's claiming Jyn Erso was inspired by Jan Ord, Kaanan was inspired by Kyle Katarn and Dass Jennir, and that Kylo Ren was inspired by Darth Caedus.' completely absent of any evidence." Now I'm not trying to disprove your claims by posting the guy's comments. I don't even know that what he's saying is true. I just wanted to see if you have any counter-arguments to back up your claims in your video. Take care, man.
@tyrannozilla there are several published works documenting the making of Dark Empire, one of which I used as a source and credited in the videos description. Whether he's saying differently now or not, what he said and approved of back in the 90s is documented. What are his sources for him apparently redacting his approval of the story? Also, what is his source that George didn't save quinlan from death in the last issue of Republic? That comes from John Ostrander himself in an interview, which I put in my sources. @tyrannozilla Tom Veitch, the author of the comic has stated and recorded multiple times that he asked George if they could bring Vader back for Dark Empire and he said "no but if you can find a way to bring the emperor back, do that". It's a shame, since he's stated that he's a fan of the EU, but it does seem like he doesn't know the behind the scenes as well as he thinks, or he's intentionally lying. It's still weird, though, that Lucy would say, years later, that George didn't know, nor approved, the Emperor's revival. Heck, even the "Wookipedia" article on Dark Empire now says that Lucas wasn't a fan of bringing Palpatine back to life. Dougie even mentioned that Tom Veitch mistook Lucas' approval of his stories for Tales of The Jedi to also have meant that he approved of Dark Empire. Regardless, what you said was true that no matter what Lucas says now, what he said back during the making of the comic is well documented. Dougie also gave me shit about taking what people say years after the fact with a grain of salt. What I was taught is that I should be a little weary of what people say in interviews years after a certain subject occurred, be it the making of a movie or any piece of media, in general, because what they say now could deviate from what they've said in the past. Oh, and another thing Dougie tried to use as proof that George never thought of the EU as canon, and that it wasn't canon at all, was a few disclaimers from the West End Games novels and one of the graphic novels that mention that what happens to the characters in these stories is the author's vision and not the vision of George Lucas. Regardless of that, even if George didn't really see the EU being canon, he sure did have a lot of rules and requests for the authors to follow. Dougie even tried to tell me that Lucas didn't pay attention that much to what the authors did in the EU after Lucy left the company in 2005. I would have to disagree with that statement.
@tyrannozilla a lot of people like that will claim that they're an EU Fan or a former EU fan or that they've read 90% of the EU to give them false credibility. The only thing he may have me on is the Lucy Wilson interview, I'll have to take a look at that but when I made the video all I had to work with was Tom Veitch's interview and his book. I don't see any reason why Lucy Wison would lie, But still, it was published, George at any point could have stopped it from being published if he was against it that much. As for all of the other stuff, he's just choosing not to take my evidence at face value, I literally show a picture of the form that authors had to fill out to send to George in the video among other evidence of the approval process. Like all EU deniers, the only argument they ever use is "George didn't consider it canon", which they have no real leg to stand on with because he never outright says it, and even in the starlog quote which I already analyze and criticized in that video, he never outright says not canon, he merely says their in a different universe to his movies in his mind. They foolishly cling to this notion while failing to realize that by measuring the EU to this metric, they're also denying that the post buy-out canon isn't canon either because George has no involvment with that whatsoever. The truth is, whether George loved it, or hated it, he approved of projects within the EU which we have documented evidence of. And his company at the time, Lucasfilm, sold and marketed these stories as official continuations and tie-ins of his movies IE franchise canon, just as today, Lucasfilm sells and markets these modern stories as the new canon.
