Thanks for uploading. For touring the 1290 GT or the 1290 super adventure might be a better option. I have the non evo version which I very much like riding and I am well into my seventies! As long as you give her plenty of respect she will behave beautifully both in town and the open road. Never a boring bike, you have to concentrate too much all the time!!

      Hi Waka,
Wow riding well into your seventies!
      Respect to you!
Thanks for watching and for your comments.
I have been trying to review a GT for a while but my local KTM dealer have not had one in now for 2 seasons.
      They sell out immediately!
I have also reviewed the 1290 Super Adventure and yes I agree. No problem to tour on that one!
On the SDR Eve I really had to concentrate a lot as it just kept taking off!!
All the best and when you are out next…. Ride Safe!

Fantastic!.. I've just upgraded to the evo and I'm 59 in July (I thought I was brave!)

I have just watched your video, and don’t quite understand some of your comments. You’re riding an Evo,with semi-active suspension in different modes (I seem to remember a “comfort” mode when I test rode one) so there must be a mode to suit you? I’m 65,and have just done a 9 day 1600 mile trip to Europe and have to say that only on the very longest days (of which there were a few),and towards the end of the ride, did I ever feel any “numbbum” which was cured by a short break. And I “only” have the R,would have loved to have been on an Evo!
I understand that each person is different re bike comfort, and I have a fairly sensitive “posterior”,and having had numerous touring Harleys (most recently a Road King) I would pick my Super Duke over one of them any day!
    Good video though😊

Hi and thanks for watching and giving your feedback on touring. As you quite rightly say, everyone is different and so will see things in different ways. The thing is, I only ever get the bikes for a few hours so it’s very difficult to give a truly rounded opinion of how the bike will perform in all areas.
I really just give my snap shot first impressions and of course I completely agree with what you’re saying many people will easily be able to tour on this bike. Maybe just not older riders like me with knee and lower back issues 😃.
Thanks so much for viewing and giving your constructive feedback.
Too many people see my point of you on the first ride and disagree in a much more aggressive way.
I appreciate and respect your approach.
Every one of us is different.
I loved this bike for the record and only wish I could have had it for longer!
All the best and when you are out next …Ride Safe!

I’m also 65 and have just bought this bike. Time will tell how it goes. I’m in the USA.

Nice bike, though a bit too much Orange.

      @TheWrittleRider  2 роки тому

Hi Dougie, yes well, it’s all about personal taste. KTM do a version that is a bit more black than orange which, if I was buying, I would go for I think.

It’s a really nice scooter as I’m finding out. I bought mine last month and just wish the weather was better so that I could take it out more often. Buying the tech package is a must.
    Edit: Subbed!

Hello, any luck finding out about the preload adjuster message? Mine is saying the same thing and I haven’t been able to find any information related

Hi Jorge, I’ll ask the KTM guys when I get the chance and see what they say. I remember talking about that message on the video but never revisited it as it was only a first ride review and no follow up.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

Have you tried Mobility scooters? They now have rain screens and probably go quicker than your average your speed. Bad review of an amazing bike. Wonder why you can’t test other bikes?

      Hi Andy,
Thanks for viewing and giving your thoughts and comments.
I think the SDR is an amazing bike but to be honest I don’t really see much difference between the Evo and the normal version so perhaps that’s why so was not overly enthused.
As for my riding speed, well I like to keep safe, especially as I am borrowing the bike and need to be respectful of that fact.
I’m not a professional reviewer backed by sponsors, this is my hobby in my spare time.
Equally I don’t want to lose my licence and these days it seems there is a unmarked police car waiting round every corner.
Just a quick twist on this bike is enough.
If their is any part in particular you didn’t like then please do let me know and I’ll try and take your comments on board.
I’m sorry you did not enjoy the review and of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
All the best and I hope other reviews I have done and perhaps future reviews meet to your expectations better.
Ride Safe when your out next…

@@TheWrittleRider have you got any data/articles about unmarked police cars being so common in the UK? I'm not doubting your comment per se, it's just not something I've observed myself. In my experience unmarked police cars are rare and unmarked police cars who are out looking for speeding offences are exceedingly rare.
In the UK I have seen a big reduction in the amount of police cars (marked and unmarked) out patrolling on the road for traffic offences. Nowadays the police seem to be busy with paperwork and rely on their various camera systems to police the roads. I think this is a bad thing for general road safety but it does mean that in my local area (where I know all the camera locations) I feel like I could speed with almost total impunity (I don't regularly speed).
From your comments and riding style, I don't think you should review bikes like this. No offence, but nobody buys a superduke to ride like this. It's clear that you are not the target audience. Nothing wrong with that, it's just that you would be much better off reviewing other types of motorcycles.

    • @TheWrittleRider

@@richardkillian5657 Hi Richard, Firstly thanks for posting. Secondly, I agree I am not the target audience for this bike, but that said I do love this bike and so if the review does not show that then that is my bad. I would never ride it to its potential and I don’t do track days so again, I do understand and respect your comments.
As for the unmarked police, I’ve been personally pulled for speeding by both an unmarked police bike and an unmarked police car In the past few years in the Essex area.
So I tend to not break the speed limit if I can help it when I am driving or riding around these days.
It’s just not worth the risk.
When I was younger I too had that feeling you have of not ever going to ever get caught speeding, but bitter life experience has taught me that I was wrong, and the police whilst don’t seem very present these days, my luck is not good, and if someone is going to get caught speeding it will be me!
I had to go to court to keep my licence 4 years back for ‘totting up’ which to me is a totally nonsense system.
Two of the 4 speeding offences were recorded by unmarked police is my scenario.
So I do speak from personal experience.
Anyway, thanks for watching, sorry if you did not enjoy the video, I will try to do better with the next super bike I review.
All the best and when you are out next please do ride safe!
