I was so confused for an entire minute, thought I suddenly lost all hearing ability in French, really started to doubt my entire life, until I scrolled down and found out its dubbed in Thai. My life just flashed before my eyes.
This made me tear up honestly. This was so accurate to the interviews of the GIGN operators who took part in this operation i saw in documentary. Everywhere wounded men, grenades exploding total chaos. The guy who got suprised by one terrorist and fell down the stairs and took his 2 comrades down with him had a saviour angel. He said his visor would've never stopped a round from an Ak, the bullet hit his pistol. If this was any accurate stunt grenades would have been thrown into the cockpit and snipers would have been laying down suppressive fire into the cockpit even without clear targets and breach attempt would have been made to the cockpit through the front landing gear.
I do have a question. Why did the GIGN use revolvers? I assume it is due to their lack of jamming and their accuracy, but during this time period they could have used a semi auto pistol as the main sidearm. Anyone have an idea? They chose a double action revolver, because a misfire could be cycled with another pull on the trigger. And instead of reloading the revolver, they just dropped it and pulled another pistol, while one of the others covered with their revolvers or submachineguns. Also, seeing as they used a .357, it could handle light body armor, an innovative idea at the time.
Look up the Manurhin mr 73, it's what they used and it is probably the best revolver in the world and has been created specifically for the GIGN. The objective what to get a few clean shots and it worked great

As I watched this intense video, I couldn’t help but admire the bravery of the GIGN operators who risked their lives to save passengers during the Marseille hijacking. Favier, even after being shot multiple times, is truly remarkable. Heroes like him remind us of the sacrifices made by those who protect others.

Grenades could detonate hikackers explosive devices. This revolver is used as a handgun sniper for accurate shot in close range. Issued with automatic pistol and two handed weapon.
Other guns could/would jam and that was a common fear for military back in 1990s. Tear gas and smoke in general is a death sentence for anyone with health complications because if they are in a plane all that is available to breath would be smoke. That would risk many hostages and even the operators
In real life the majority of officer still use 357 magnum revolvers in the unit. They actually have kits they use with tripods and rifle scopes and their officer are trained to use their revolvers as a sniper rifle if needed. At the time Air France had already started to replace their A300 fleet in favour of A330 and A320s. If this was any accurate stunt grenades would have been thrown into the cockpit and snipers would have been laying down suppressive fire into the cockpit even without clear targets and breach attempt would have been made to the cockpit through the front landing gear.
I do have a question. Why did the GIGN use revolvers? I assume it is due to their lack of jamming and their accuracy, but during this time period they could have used a semi auto pistol as the main sidearm. Anyone have an idea?

They chose a double action revolver, because a misfire could be cycled with another pull on the trigger. And instead of reloading the revolver, they just dropped it and pulled another pistol, while one of the others covered with their revolvers or submachineguns. Also, seeing as they used a .357, it could handle light body armor, an innovative idea at the time.
Look up the Manurhin mr 73, it's what they used and it is probably the best revolver in the world and has been created specifically for the GIGN. The objective what to get a few clean shots and it worked great

These other guys are saying SEALs, but the US Military doesn’t conduct operations on American soil. The FBI HRT functions on US Soil, US territories, and abroad, just as the GIGN, GSG-9, GIPN, SAS, and etc do.

A CQB on this type of environnement is REALLY hard, plus the fact there is a lot of hostages and pilots in the cockpit so they can’t just blow it up or shoot like they want. This assault is a pure masterpiece of counter terrorism, no gign or hostages were killed (during the assault)

As I watched this intense video, I couldn’t help but admire the bravery of the GIGN operators who risked their lives to save passengers during the Marseille hijacking. Favier, even after being shot multiple times, is truly remarkable. Heroes like him remind us of the sacrifices made by those who protect others.
I can’t imagine the hours upon hours of training these warriors take every day to perfect there skills.

This revolver is used as a handgun sniper for accurate shot in close range. Issued with automatic pistol and two handed weapon.
Other guns could/would jam and that was a common fear for military back in 1990s. Tear gas and smoke in general is a death sentence for anyone with health complications because if they are in a plane all that is available to breath would be smoke. That would risk many hostages and even the operators

In real life the majority of officer still use 357 magnum revolvers in the unit. They actually have kits they use with tripods and rifle scopes and their officer are trained to use their revolvers as a sniper rifle if needed. Not sure if they actually carry both the revolver and the fn 509 I think it is. The way he immediately pulls the semi may be bs. The single action of a revolver is almost unsurpassed in accuracy in the hands of a trained shooter, and these guys definitely are
@@andog6092 That’s very interesting and a good point, but it must still make you feel a little uneasy leading a breach with a revolver style firearm when the opposition are making use of automatic weapons. I mean the stopping power is a nice thing to have, but personally I would just stick with the FN.

At the time Air France had already started to replace their A300 fleet in favour of A330 and A320s. The fleet was going to be retired in 2-3 years anyway the last Air France A300 flew on december 1998

As you can expect from moovies you don't see a lot of reload, but what you see is very close to the reality. For exemple, the footage peoples sees at the TV is actually real images of the raid, so sometimes you better keep your keyboard alone and search before writing a complain

I agree some innacuracies have been made but reenactement is much more realist than some bs i can read in the comment section because peoples can't even look on internet.
Actually a reaction from a GIGN guy to the assault scene would be the perfect way to point what's true and what's wrong.
