- Detailed Trip Report of my KLM Royal Dutch Airlines Boeing 747-400 flight from Toronto to Amsterdam in Economy Comfort Class. The transatlantic flight from Toronto Pearson Intl. Airport (YYZ), Canada to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS), Netherlands takes 6 hours and 30 minutes. Seat for this wing view is 15A in Economy Comfort Class. what a beautiful plane, Very good video
I had to watch this after the 789 report. Thank you once more. I flew PH-BFA and PH-BFT in 1998, of course with the original layout and seats. Food seemed better than you have shown (hot breakfast, but perhaps for long haul?), but only overhead CRT monitors. Yourreport reminds me just how noisy the 747 cabin is - I have also flown MH 747.
I love the wingview with the Royal Jordanian Airbus @13:29 And wonderfull the Helicopter flying underneath @16:14 Well done!

Love KLM 747. My favorite aircraft.
It is a great aircraft but the cabin is outdated (not Business Class though)
PlaneSpottingBerlin ✈ Aviation Videos come on. Outdated doesn’t necessarily mean bad. At least the cabins were from a time when aviation had unconditional love and peace (1990s)

I have flied in the Boeing 747-400 of KLM. So much. Three days ago i went with this super jet.
I have done this route few years back, It was on December 13, we left Toronto at 6 Pm and we got to Amsterdam at 6 Am. the service still the same. KLM is great airlines but they are falling behind on their services. 747 is still one of my favorite plane. great review.

I'm very late to this video but I flew on Lufthansa economy on the 747 in 2015 from Toronto to Frankfurt then a connecting flight to Dubai
I loved Lufthansa it was great

Brilliant Video mate. Very nicely put together. I was looking at this flight, but the problem was it was too expensive. I've found something cheaper for a trip to Toronto next year, just need to decide whether to book it or not. Your video has given me an insight into this route with KLM, so I'm going to double check their prices once more.

The flights to Toronto are generally pretty expensive...
I took this flight in August - and prices where all around 1000€ round trip for just me...
The dates I booked I payed about 670€ - which is horrendous when you know a much longer flight to LAX would cost you only 250-300€ return.

Thank you so much, terrific video, love, love, love the 747-400. Have flown it many times from Aruba to Amsterdam. The remaining 10 747-400 will get an upgrade soon and will be flying until 2021.
I took this flight over 5 years ago with one of KLM's combis (PH-BFE), and it was a decent flight. Your video showed that not very much has changed regarding the service, however, within that time period. I'd definitely want to try this flight again, but with some of their newer aircraft, i.e. the 789 or A332 (I wouldn't mind going on one of their non-combi 744s). Back then, I paid 50 Euros to upgrade to an emergency exit row for extra legroom (premium economy was offered on my flight for 100 Euros). I ended up flying on one of their MD-11s on the way back to Toronto two weeks later.
I also flew their 787-9 recently to Toronto. It was a good flight (video will follow).
I missed the MD-11... I had the chance to fly on one to Toronto back then but went for the A330 instead.... now I regret it!
@@PlaneSpottingBerlin Fortunately, I managed to record my departure/arrival aboard the MD-11, and both are a couple of my earliest videos on the channel. I have to say that the MD-11 takeoff from AMS was perhaps one of my favourite to experience, especially since I ultimately only flew on that aircraft the one time, and not again since.

Im flying this flight next month. Changed my flight rather than flying Edmonton-Vancouver, Vancouver- Paris wi2h Air France. Super old aircraft but this will complete me flying every airbus and boeing aircraft. I dont think flying Economy Comfort is worth for 10% more of the ticket price? Nice video thanks

Oh! This was a 747-400(M) - Combi variant. Saw the cargo door at 19:39
No this 747 has been modified to an all pax configuration. It was built as a combi but operates now as a full pax version.
I ride KLM B747 six years ago from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. And I really disappointed to Singapore airlines, I ride last month singapore airlines from Singapore to Seoul 6 hour 50 minutes flights, they only serve a hot meal, and before landing, they serve a cashews nuts. In this video, KLM serves a hot meal and a snack box on a 6 hour 30 minutes flights, I really dissatisfied my singapore airline flight last month. BTW I satisfied by your video!!!

Bennet Fan I thought KLM used the B777 on their flights to Kuala Lumpur? At least whenever I went to Jakarta, (we’d stop in Kuala Lumpur) we flew with the B777. I would’ve loved to have flown with the B747, sad to hear they’re retiring it.

Flying on KLM economy comfort (premium economy) is not worth it since you get only a bigger leg room and nothing else. Other airlines like cathay and singapore airlines.. really differentiate the service in premium economy.

Tomato juice, not orange :P Such a great video! As always, the best part if when you review the food. However, looked like a little dissapointing this time. After you have payed 80 euros more, I would have expected something better.

Hmm... If the only difference was more legroom and nothing else, I would say the Comfort was not worth it imo.
SAS Plus is a better alternative, with more seat width and pitch, and a choice of what to eat... And the updated cabin is really nice. Only down side is that SAS does not oprate the 747 nor DreamLiner, wich is sad imo...
indeed - the old 747 cabin is pretty outdated...
Also the price for just a little more leg room is not worth it...

In 1992 I flew on a 747 garuda indonesia from frankfurt to jakarta. The plane was old and garuda was not a good airline in the 90s.

on this flight not but I can't really answer your question as it differs from day to day. Also it is not something the airlines can change - it happens all the time.

The plastic cutlery is nice n sturdy though....but nothing is better than the real stuff. Now they don't give out the snacks and drinks anymore before dinner. Disappointing to say the least.

I went to Toronto from Amsterdam on the new KLM Dreamliner, that was amazing. I have to agree with you on the screens on the 747 but disagree on the price. AirTransat and other airlines are more expensive than KLM, we bought tickets for this summer for a little over 3000 euro's which, in my opinion, isn't as bad compared to AirCanada for example.

OMG! They saw you coming. The whole thing was a rip-off. Paying extra to sit in an airless and claustrophobic cabin with a “wing view” ??? They should have paid you! You give a full and very good review! Unfortunately, it reveals what a con job KLM is doing! Shame on them! Mind you, they have never really shone as an international carrier!

But yes - i only made the upgrade for the view - which is pretty awesome in my opinion :D

Yes - I already flew Qatar! But they don't fly to Toronto and I don't want to fly from Berlin to Doha (6 hours in the wrong direction) and then back to Canada 😂
