Call Type: Structure Fire
Call Description:
At 12:41am, Hamden Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Downed Rd. E-9 was first on scene, calling the working fire in a two and a half story residential with the attached garage fully involved. A 2nd alarm was called immediately. Fire conditions quickly deteriorate, and with no hydrants in the vicinity of the fire command called for all firefighters to evacuate the structure and called for a tanker task force. This sent multiple tankers front numerous agencies. By the time a good water supply was established, the entire house was fully involvedand the fire also spread to the nearby car in the driveway. (This had nothing to do with the fire department but the area of witch the fire was.) The fire took numerous hours to be extinguished as units were still hitting hots spots as well as conducting overhaul operations by sunrise. No injuries were reported. The Hamden Fire Marchals Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

That's to bad that the house was a total loss, glad that there were no injuries to anyone related to this incident.
Having been a volunteer firefighter for a small town, I well know that water supply issues can be frustrating for the firefighters.
Thank you to all firefighters everywhere for protecting the citizens of your coverage area.
Was that another Tesla
No, it was not a Tesla, but either way, the fire did not start by the car the car caught after the house.
I would never own a house not served by a local water source like a hydrant.
