Did you know that AC/DC frontman Bon Scott was rumored to have gotten into heroin before his death and that some say he made significant lyrical contributions to Back in Black? Before his death in 1980 at the tragically young age of only 33, Bon Scott was the lead singer of the legendary rock-and-roll group AC/DC. After Bon’s death, the band went on to achieve more success than ever before with the release of Back in Black the same year.

Though fans have always thought that Back in Black was created without Bon’s involvement, there is evidence suggesting that the singer contributed lyrics to the album before his passing. Other secrets that aren’t commonly known about the rock-and-roll frontman include the fact that many think he became involved in heroin before he died. This changes how some are viewing the late singer’s death, as it was initially believed that he had died simply of alcohol poisoning.
By all accounts, AC/DC’s Bon Scott was a man that loved to party. However, up until recently, it was believed that the singer didn’t dabble all that much in hard substances before his untimely passing. For the most part, it has been believed that Bon was simply drinking heavily at the time of his death. Still, there are an increasing number of people who believe that what truly killed the singer was a heroin overdose. Join Facts Verse as we explore what happened to AC/DC’s Bon Scott on his final night alive.

I totally agree. The circumstances surrounding his death do not add up at all to me. If there's anything his fellow partiers should have known, it's not to leave anyone in that state without supervision to make sure they stay breathing and don't choke on anything that may come back up. So sad. One of the saddest deaths ever. 😞

    • @BBrubaker0804

This 👆 Look closely at the lyrics and compare them to Bon-era lyrics, and then post-BIB Johnson-Era lyrics… not saying Bon wrote every song on there, but every good on there.
The real question is: that being the case… why did the Youngs and the rest of the band deny Bon a writer’s credit on those songs?” And fork it over to a guy who just showed up once Bon was out of the picture?
Don’t know much about the backstage inner-band politics of AC/DC during that era, but if someone was a friend of mine… aaaand that friend happened to work with my brother and I, writing kickass music that took us all over the world…. aaaaand that friend died at the age of thirty-fucking-three, after writing a bunch of killer songs for the album we were all smack in the middle of creating…. Then you couldn’t have possibly kept me from honoring that friend by putting their name next to the songs they wrote.
Now I ask ya… how did he really die? We’ll never know… because just like so many others that have died under mysterious or otherwise under-defined circumstances, the records are shit, things were purposefully omitted, and the only people who know… are either dead, or they ain’t talkin.

Either his inexperience as a hard core heroine user led to his death, or he wasn't aware he was taking heroine that night. At any rate, heroine killed him.

Considering there was three months between Bon Scott's death and the release of the Back In Black album, it's certainly possible that Bon wrote some of the lyrics. What is known is that Bon indirectly named his replacement in ACDC. Shortly before his death, Bon Scott saw the band Geordie (fronted by Brian Johnson) in concert. After the show, he told his bandmates that if something happened him, they should check out Brian Johnson as a replacement. Regarding Bon Scott's death, it was also reported that he choked on his own vomit and suffocated.

  • @porkypile
    @porkypile 9 місяців тому +1

Bon may not have been a habitual heroin user, but his death was a clear case of heroin OD. Non of the details match up regarding his final 2 days according to the official report and he did hang out, occasionally, with heroin users and dealers. Cause of the touring and other mishaps he didnt see heroin users on a daily basis and surely did not use that frequently either, but that all makes it all so much more clear. Bon simply spent a night with heroin users and, either by himself or assisted, received too much heroin in his system. This is what caused him to nod out and then not wake up. As Alistair Kinnear reported to the police it "looked as if he was sleeping" until Kinnear touched him and felt he was cold as ice. Yet, Bon in the coroners report was told to have died form alcohol poisoning. I will tell you: Bon would not die from booze, unless it was during delirium tremens, which he by no reports ever had experienced and not during his final days either. Going to sleep, aka passing out, and then stopping to breath is a heroin overdose. Plain and simple. Bon after months of being very stressed and pushed to his limits sough to ease the pain and not only with booze but with heroin, and Silver Smith and Alistair Kinnear were the people to find it for him. Bon had no reason to want to die at that time, he had a Japanese girl friend and even though he feared the touring of the coming album he would not leave his friens and family behind. He didnt want to die, he wanted to live happy with love.
    Truly sad story. RIP, Bon

Just in my small rural town, I have not only heard of several cases of alcohol poisoning, I have heard of numerous close calls. It has been reported that while passed out, Bon Scott vomited (a normal occurrence for severe intoxication), aspirated his vomit and choked to death. This is a typical manner of death in alcohol related deaths and would have not been out of the question for a person passed out while sitting upright in the back of a car.
Although it would be no more of a tragedy for him to have died from one form of intoxication than another. I think people need to let him rest in peace and accept the official account of his passing. Nothing will ever soften the blow that was the tragedy when he died. Whether famous or an ordinary individual, he passed away needlessly at far too young an age, while partaking of a product (any, either, or), that millions partake in, thinking it's a good time.
Like many that went before (Jimmy Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, etc.), and many since (Michael Jackson, Whitney Huston, and others), the lifestyle of using mind altering substances has robbed families, fans, and colleagues of talented people who died far too soon!

Bon Scott is alive and well he is Colin Hay of "Men at Work" he just had to hangup his image with ACDC he hated the demands of being on the road from one town to another town from one Country to another Country! He wanted to make music on his own time and perform on his own terms. Most importantly he wanted to be about his family.

To the two previous comments, correct. They are not heavy-metal. And Mark Evans was the original bassist. Bon definitely had heroin in his system. He was hanging out with the boys from UFO who were anonymous for shooting.

Maybe 6 lines and 2-3 soung titles... that's all from Bon that was there and ended up on the album. He didn't write whole songs before the recording sessions. He wrote the big chunk DURING the sessions. Does there have be such a big fuss about it? No... The band did enough to honor Bon, by even including the whole thing into the Bonfire boxset.

I love the band with both the Bon era and Brian to present. Say what you want about who wrote what lyrics. I don't see any concrete proof that Bon put words to the Back In Black album. Just hear-say is all I've heard or seen. Show me proof. That's all I ask. Bon's lyrics were great and unlike any other songwriter. Brian is credited with some brilliant lyrics as well. However, I don't feel it's fair to compare the two. They are and were two very different individuals with very different songwriting styles. Both of which are excellent. The band's accolades prove that. AC/DC is a true powerhouse regardless of which era you're listening to.
