Minor correction, the Bionic Woman lasted 3 seasons not 2 seasons. I have the full DVD set. Thanks for a great review on my 2 favourite shows of that time period. The show was loaded with guest stars who went on to bigger things. At one point, Six Million Dollar Man was on over 60 percent of all America TV sets when broadcasted in first few seasons. It was the first serious superhero show with a heart, and was a huge success.
@@FactsVerse Wondering if you had done any videos of what happened to the careers of cast of Three's Company, or Charlies Angels or any behind the scenes. A couple of great shows in the 70s. Thanks.
Yes, I was coming to coming to comment the same. Bionic Woman aired two seasons on ABC and then was dropped by the network. But it was a very popular show, so NBC picked it up for its third season. It was very popular. I personally liked it much more the the Six Million Dollar Man.
You are right but the first season was a mid season entry with less episodes tan season 2 & 3. Season 2 was the best! It featured some outstanding acting, a lot of action and great writing. Strong performances in the episodes "Deadly ringer" and "Doomsday is today" won Lindsey Wagner an Emmy for best actress in a television series in 1977. Everyone predicted Kada Thompson would win for her role in the series "Family" but they were wrong.(Sada won the following year) Everyone gawked when Wagner took home the the Emmy because "The bionic woman" was looked as as a light weight series. They obviously did not watch those episodes I mentioned. ABC canning "The bionic woman" and NBC picking it up for a 3rd season did not work out well for the show. The first episode of "The bionic woman" on it's new network NBC introduced the bionic dog. That episode was good and was #7 show on the Nielsen ratings that week. Take that ABC! The following episode was the return of the Fembots in the episode "Fembots in Las Vegas" . That was also a good episode although the special effects were not as good as they were in season 2. By todays standards they are very dated! After those two episodes the rest of season 3 was terrible! The rating dropped to the bottom and NBC cancelled "The bionic woman" for a second time. Lindsey got what she needed out of the series and starred in many mini series one being the highly successful "Scruples" where Lindsey got to show a rags to riches television project with a lot glamour and international intrigue. Many for television project and even a film role. Lindsey briefly dated Sylvester Stallone and starred as his girl friend in the thriller "Night hawk" . A good film and a departure for Stallone from his "Rocky" film(s).
@@FactsVerse Of course I loved The Bionic Woman too. During that time period, I was also a big 3's Company fan, and when 6 Million Dollar Man ended, I became a big Taxi fan. :)

This show 1974- 78 was my favorite show along with Bionic Woman 77 To 79 Born in1970 .. I was 5 to 9. Everyone in my era say their favorite shows were Charlie Angels, Six Million dollar man, and Bionic Woman, and Wonder Woman. All these shows I can watch on UA-cam channels right now. All these shows when I look at the acting is superb. The actors put a lot into character. No one right now could make any of these shows acting ability believable. Lyndsey Wagner was in other movies and she is very flexible. Farrah is a awesome actress in the Burning Bed and Farrah one a acting award. Lee Majors was in a couple of TV shows in the era before 74. I am so happy I can see these shows again and pick the episode I want to see. The channel FX started playing Six Million, Bionic Woman and Wonder Woman all in this order starting at 2pm. Then SciFi started playing the trio of shows. Now Charlie's Angels is being played on a certain cable channel.. Subrina Duncan and Jacklyn Smith , and Cheryl Ladd are also superb actresses with a very soothing in the moment tone and all had a serious content with their speaking on que. Shows now sound different and aren't believable. No one can do a Wonder Woman series and speak like Lynda Carter does as that character and sound like a real person with confidence. The shows have been revamped to a series or part of movies. They don't do Justice at all with the original version in the 70s if you compare the revamps. Six million dollar man ie Lee Majors wanted less killing etc. Wonder Woman and Bionic Woman changed channels to CBS and Bionic Woman was at CBS. Wonder Woman changed the era from World War 1 to current era. Diana Prince had a stylist making her war assistance uniform into a 1979 chic woman of that era. She also had new WW outfits, like her horse riding outfit, swimsuit outfit, skateboard, roller skate and all those were extra blasts and turns. She had actors or singers in the WW series. Lief Garrett singer, the Tarzan series actor, her sister Debra Winger, and others. I even dressed for Halloween as Diana Prince (WW alter ego) to the T. I also met Mrs Carter in 78' at the Kingdom in Seattle during BMX racing .Both did not renew.
The song Midnight train to Georgia was written when Farrah was chatting with a song writer about her going to meet Steve's parents. Steve was already famous. I remember them anytime i hear that song playing.

I remember reading at the 1970s beginning, psychic Hurkos warned Lee Majors not to marry Farrah because he had a vision that Farrah would leave him. But Lee was already too much in love and probably did not believe him. I find it eerie how they can predict things like that. Happened to me too
Divorce is never the way out, My wife and I have been having issues before I sort out help from a spiritual adviser,i wasnt going to let my marriage of 18years crash
Discarding a relationship that has an investment of years, is never the best way to go, I agree with you! Our species would be in a much better place if the institution of marriage was held in higher regard.
She shoulda stayed with Lee, posed for Playboy 20yr.s earlier, been The Bionic Woman, made some better movies, stayed the hell away from O'neal and bad drugs, for a start. But, for a brief time in the 70's, she was the All-American Sweetheart fantasy! THAT'S how I want to remember Farrah.
No that is not true as Farrah wanted off the set early and asked his permission to use him as an excuse and he gave it of course as Lee worked the same long day that she did and after a backlash against Lee Farrah admitted it was all her idea but nobody wanted to hear that but she said it herself

There was no mention of this in the vid, but Farrah became famous because of the iconic 1970's poster of her in the red bathing suit. Stunning! One of her earliest acting roles was a cameo appearance in 1970 on The Partridge Family and in 1977 she had the role of Holly in the movie Logan's Run.💖
This story has Holes in it . Lee Majors was doing his 6 Million Dollar Man Show . He says he asked a Friend at the time Ryan O Neal that lived near by his home in Malibu , Ca to keep Farrah company when possible while Lee was away doing his show . Ryan and Farrah ended up Romanticly together permanently as Lee found out later . Ryan and Farrah were together for like 26 years from 1979 - 1997 / 2001 - 2009 til she died . So the thing where Lee and Farrah getting together intimately one last time before they divorced seems like Fiction . Ryan O Neal was an Ego Maniac , Domestic Violence , Hot Head of the Alec Baldwin Class . Ryan wasn't a Guy that would have allowed his new woman to have one last Fling / Tryst with her ex husband to be .
Kind of an odd contrast for Ryan , who played a soft, humble character, Howard Bannister in " Whats up, Doc?". I did not like his nagging ex-fiance, Eunice ( Madeline Kahn). (I didn't like her much as an actress, either) Barbara Streisand was obnoxious, but in a fun way!

The Six Million Dollar Man was a childhood favorite of mine. Now I'm trying to get a copy of "Just a Little Inconvenience" with Lee Majors, James Stacy and Barbara Hershey. No official release was ever made. Just old fan recordings. A shame.
Farrah Fawcett, God rest her soul, was an enigma. Blink and you missed her in Logan's Run. Her performance in Charlie's Angels was kind of ditzy and carefree - she basically phoned in the same cheerleader bubblehead act when she co-starred opposite Kirk Douglas in Saturn 3 as the love interest *cringe* = she strove hard to show her acting chops wanting to be taken seriously for her acting with that Extremities thing - and then I just remember how like Entertainment Tonight just like set up camp at her place to report on the death watch when she went thru her extended bout with stage 4 cancer. I think she might've been a bit innocent and how her character gets duped with a sort of deer-in-headlights look in almost everything she plays is almost meta for how she found the Hollywood experience. Charming as she was, Cheryl Ladd acted the pants off her in the rest of the seasons of Charlie's Angels - and Cheryl Ladd, like David Soul, was really a singer not even an actor... I just don't think Farrah could sustain the consistent level needed for series television work. Lee Majors is a bit like Clint Eastwood when it comes to his love life and his marriages - well maybe Clint fooled around a bit more - but I have to honestly admire Lee Majors - his father died before he was born in a work accident and his mother died in a car crash when he was 17 mos - he went from Michigan to Kentucky when he was two, adopted by his uncle and aunt. Wow.
No, just no. lol Whether you like it or not, Farrah Fawcett was a huge phenomenon as one of the original Charlie's Angels. You can't change that fact. She was more popular than your buddy Cheryl Ladd. Who had her own problems because she couldn't get along with Kate Jackson who was considered the "smart" one on the show. You mention the comparison thing with Ladd and David Soul. However, David Soul actually had a number 1 hit. Ladd never had a sniff of anything like that in her "singing" career. At least Farrah was able to learn and get a lot better with her acting after she left CA. Example- Her work in the Emmy nominated role in The "Burning Bed," as Diane Downs in "Small Sacrifices" and stage work in "Extremities" is proof of that and proved that she moved on from "ditzy." The roles you mention as in "Logans Run" and "Saturn 3" were her just starting out in movie roles and that should be mentioned. Apparently, Aaron Spelling and Leonard Goldberg don't agree with your opinion of "ditzy" and that Farrah couldn't "sustain the consistent level it takes for a television series." They only took her to court and sued her to force her to make three guest star appearances a year for three years returning to CA.. That's how important the creators of Charlie's Angels considered Farrah Fawcett to be towards the success of CA. That sounds like they didn't want Farrah to leave CA.
At the time of the split the papers were full of a different story. Lee was out of the country making a viking movie and asked his best friend, Ryan O'Neal, to look after his wife. Farrah left Lee and immediately took up with his ex-best friend.
The more shocking was that she stayed with her last partner when he was unfaithful Farrah Fawcett and Lee Majors still had a romance when they were getting a divorce
Lee is being gracious, Farrah married because of his fame and connections. She never intended to be a stay at home wife! Never cared much for her myself.
Ryan said he wonders if Farrah would still be alive if they never met? He wonders if the toxic relationship and surroundings gave her cancer? His words. She should have taken Redmond as a baby and left.
Lee Majors helped Farrah Fawcet get better pay at Charlie's Angels. He was making 8 times more money than she was when she began that show. I'd be making dinner too.
Well sometimes these things can happen as to the how the why the thick and the gist of it when married couples find that they're not spending as much time together then it makes sense for them to get divorced.
I was about 8 years old when this show started. And I seriously lost my shit when the the Bionic Women died. That was seriously debilitating to my development! Her bionics brought her back but she was not the same mentally.
Lee Majors was not a "good fit" for Farrah Fawcett ... she was a very talented person and he really didn't want her to reach her potential. He wanted her "there for him" all the time. Glad Farrah was able to "bloom" and have the career she so deserved to have in her lifetime.
ESQUIRE magazine reported that once a thief broke into the home of Ryan O'Neal and Farrah and Ryan tried to get him to leave by shouting "I'm Ryan "Love Story" O'Neil and this is Farrah "Charlie's Angels" Fawcett!" Lee's third wife, PLAYBOY Playmate of the year for 1985 Karen Velez, is still around and works as a professional hypnotist-psychologist. She and Lee have one son.

(Also Farrah was acting since 1970, granted it wasn't until '76 that her meteoric rise to fame with 'Charlies Angels' cemented her fame)._

Honestly.... 'You've Got To Be Kidding...' Couples don't simply divorce and go their separate ways, just because they actually have a job. In my experience, and from what I've been told for the last 56 years, is: - Couples divorce and move on, because they begin to want different things. In truth, as much as your spouse can be very attractive, after a time, she's just another person, regardless of all the hype. When things get complicated, being intimate with your spouse, ..really isn't the first thing on your mind; you tend to get tired of them, and they get tired of you, and just as soon as one of them actually finds somebody umm.. 'More appropriate....they split.' - The End. - Peace. \\//
I remember their break up and it was because he was very controlling. He was quite upset she wasn't there to cook dinner, clean the house and that her career was taking off as his was ending. Like a lot of men at that time, Lee felt Farrah was there to serve him and when that wasn't going to work out, he divorced her. Burt Reynolds treated Sally fields in the same way. Egos run high in Hollywood and women were considered the property of men. Unfortunately, the women's lib movement was changing all of that, but some men didn't get the memo.
He wasn't controlling, they both agreed she would stay home, two people chasing stardom causes a failed marriage in Hollywood, he was gone a lot, military families live apart too, it's hard. She landed the role on Charlie's Angels and the red swimsuit poster came out which she did on her own, her downfall was divorcing Lee and getting involved with Ryan, his children gave her a hard time, he was trouble, she has a son that became an addict, I believe the constant stress caused her to become ill, she wasn't raised like that, Lee loved her very much. The expression 'it will lady as long as a Hollywood marriage' is said for good reason. She changed her mind about being a homemaker and having a family for fame. She is still missed.
Six million dollar Man's first love interest was Lee Majors own wife Farrah Fawcett. She had guest appearances on the show as his girlfriend and was supposed to be the original bionic woman but Charlie's Angels came along.
The world has changed so much. I think the 80s was the start of the end. Surprised we made it this long honestly. When i was 4 or 5 watching the Fall Guy it was all so innocent.

Farrah might be dead. I know speculation on this matter sounds nuts but I told her 35 years ago since she had terrible problems from that poster, that she would have to fake her death to get out of Hollywood alive. I waited on her hand and foot for 10 years using spiritual forces to calm the matter down. All I asked her for was to keep me employed as at that time, as a handyman. And she did so. She lived nextdoor to Cheech Marin in Malibu on PCH. When she 'died' 8 years later her house was torn down, foundation and all. Looks like it was never there. More than anything she was a good friend. And had to be distant because she was so famous. But the best friend I ever had. Don't know if she is dead, where she ended up.The problems occurred because the name Farrah is actually and Egyptian name for the wife of a Pharaoh. I told her about it. But no response because she was so bewildered she was a victim of the name. Worked 10 years to help her out and gave up because it was too much for me. Whether she is dead or not, I lost a friend. The most wonderful person I ever met. That's why I go to the cemetery and pray for her. It is not logical for a poster girl to die of anal cancer. Ask any women's club members. I think womanhood got ripped off because of this. Very disrespectful. But God knows what really happened and all I have left is a headstone to look at.

Good to know that they're relationship even after they divorced was amicable.

@@j-manmarkus7591 Where did you end up finding it?
Example- Her work in the Emmy nominated role in The "Burning Bed," as Diane Downs in "Small Sacrifices" and stage work in "Extremities" is proof of that and proved that she moved on from "ditzy."
The roles you mention as in "Logans Run" and "Saturn 3" were her just starting out in movie roles and that should be mentioned.
Correction. Lee had stated in interviews that he didn't want Farrah around just to " fix his meals". That's ridiculous.
At the time of the split the papers were full of a different story. Lee was out of the country making a viking movie and asked his best friend, Ryan O'Neal, to look after his wife. Farrah left Lee and immediately took up with his ex-best friend.
Sad we lost two superstars on the same day.
From straight as an arrow Lee Majors to HollyWeird playboy Ryan O'Neil..... some mistakes just cannot be recovered from.

- Peace. \\//
That fair false she was the prettiest whatever oh yeah oh yeah
I remember their break up and it was because he was very controlling. He was quite upset she wasn't there to cook dinner, clean the house and that her career was taking off as his was ending. Like a lot of men at that time, Lee felt Farrah was there to serve him and when that wasn't going to work out, he divorced her. Burt Reynolds treated Sally fields in the same way. Egos run high in Hollywood and women were considered the property of men. Unfortunately, the women's lib movement was changing all of that, but some men didn't get the memo.
Lived with them did you cleverdick.😢

Us too! Glad to know that you're a fan. What other types of video would you like to see on our channel?
I met Lee on the set of Keatons Cop back in 1988 filmed in Galveston, Texas. Celebrated his 50th Birthday with him & the crew. I remember seeing a baby crib in his suite & found out he was then married to Karen.
Fun stuff, thanks for sharing! We're very happy to know that you had a chance to meet Lee. Which of his roles appealed to you the most?
I liked the Bionic Woman better than the Six Million Dollar Man.
I miss Farrah Fawcett

I expect the show was to be called Cyborg because that’s the name of the novel it’s based on
He had it written into her contract at Charlie’s angels that she could leave to go home and make him dinner.. he wanted her to be an “at home wife” that’s why they divorced…
