@@DannyHood-j your recollection is sketchy because the last episode of Six Million Dollar Man was aired in March 1978, a month before the premier of the Dallas pilot episodes.
Once again the youtube algorithm bestows a pearl of wisdom that I didn't perceive back in the 70's. Thanks for pointing out a level of detail the producers really didn't need to apply back in the day, but I'm now glad they did!
@@davidva8694 They cut out the scene where Steve put C4 and detonators on the concrete and flipped the switch as it hit the truck. They thought it wasn't very realistic and just wasn't as cool.😄

I hate the our smart phones can spy on us but the ability to pull any music I want along with old scenes from my favorite childhood series makes it almost worth having them other than to communicate obviously but I digress my favorite show along with Starsky & Hutch!
Putting the late great Oliver Nelson on sound track duty RIP along with Lee Majors Football athletics back ground he made the action look cool and easy .
I like how they used a heartbeat in place of the bionics sound when he was running; it demonstrated very well how critical this mission was for a half-crippled Steve Austin to stop it in time.
You can tell this was 1st season. The "dodododo" bionic sound was not in use yet. As i recal the sound was used with the 1st appearence of one of the androids (played by john saxon i think).
I was at Junior school (England) when this was on TV first here and this one kid, he was great, he really thought he was SA and used to literally 'run' around the playground in slow motion. It was brilliant!
Lee Majors is an awesome actor for this show! I wish they did a crossover between him and The Incredible Hulk with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno together!
But there was a first season episode called "The Pioneers" in which an astronaut (BJ Hunnicut from MASH) was accidentally injected with a cryo-serum and went berserk like the Hulk and had similar strength, but died at the end sadly.
You also have to add in the greed of politicians, military big wigs, favorite pork projects, and the defense contractors having to get "their slice of the pie" and the bill would approach 2 trillion dollars.
I remember reading the book as a kid. His bionics were a bit different in the book. As I recall, he could not see through the eye, but it was a camera. His hand could convert into a gun, his feet could convert into fins for swimming, several ribs were replaced and acted as radio antenna for communications.
I read the book many times.the show inspired me so much I grew up building my own artificial limbs and even made a working bionic eye, with night vision, from a mini security camera placed inside a fishing bobber, that plugged into my VCR.great show. 👍🏻
@@thomasbentley4757 I have also read that Martin Caidin, Author of "Cyborg" wanted Monte Markham to play the role of Steve Austin but Lee Majors was selected. Monte of course did make two appearances in the SMDM as Barney Miller/Hiller.
They don't make shows today like they used to. I'm reminded why I used to watch so much TV when I was a teenager. Now the military does have a similar weapon using microwaves, but it flash fries people.
I had one back in the 70's. Also I managed to get hold of the Maskatron action figure, which included a cool briefcase and Oscar Goldman mask. Toys back then were awesome!
Love how the whole time he's disabled and stumbling, then running, then running with the post, somehow he maintains a perfect outfit look with his shirt tucked in and the belt.
I was only 9 years old when this first aired back in 1974! My family and I watched this show every week commercials and all. As a kid I didn't understand why after Steve threw the pole he didn't cover both of his ears as he waited for the impact but now I realize that he didn't use his right (Bionic) hand to cover his ear as he might have accidentally crushed his skull. Good attention to detail on the part of the writers.
Not sure how the computerized truck immediately went ablaze and blew up? I can understand an electrical fire when the cement-based pole crashed into the computerized truck, but it looks like it completely blew up. Perhaps the fuel line contributed as an accelerant with the electrical fire.
I wished a network would bring back a new version of the bionic man with today's effects. Can you imagine the human bot episodes and the Bigfoot episodes in today's time. With inflation, it would be the 6 trillion dollar man, 😂.
I remember watching this I believe they are working to make a movie already the script is all set any ideas who would play Steve Austin. Thank you for sharing this.
Weird how your memory works - once you see something! Meatballs now I remember this almost like yesterday when I watched it! Oh wait that was 50 years ago! Holy Meatballs lol
It's been considered, I think. If you're a fan of Lee Majors though, you can see the theatrical adaptation of another one of his series right now. It's really good! I highly recommend!
Hollyweird wouldn't redo the 6 million dollar man they would remake the Bionic woman with an " alphabet it" and push every new age agenda known to man as a PSA instead of a movie.
They did do a remake series of the Bionic Woman, with Michelle Ryan and Miguel Ferrer in 2008 very different from the orginal but still Jaime Sommers, still was a good show. Its on Dvd if you can find it.

@@derrickray5464 Right on!
This show was right up there with Starsky & Hutch and The Incredible Hulk. One of my favorites. Thanks SFS!
Sure was! Let's not forget Barretta ☺
@@MarieC-iammariceetw3 Indeed! With his pet bird. Back when TV was good.
One of the coolest scenes in the show. It showed how he could think quickly to solve problems. And don’t forget that awesome music!
Oliver Nelson was an awesome musician and composer
Coolest... I mean... literally. 🤣JUST watched this episode 2 nights ago.
That oliver nelson steve austin action background music is awesome.
👍Sure was!
Good times. Probably one of the most effective scenes in the series.
I like the detail of his right arm (bionic) not sweating through his shirt. Smart.
I always thought that the method of how Steve "thawed out" in this episode was brilliantly done!!😊
It really was. The show should have pushed more to keep this Directory full-time along with the musical composer.
I remember Austin's javelin throw in this 1974 episode when I was 14 like it was yesterday. My entire family and friends clapped and cheered. 😃

Isso é fazer filme de ficção com riquezas de detalhes, muito bom, e olha que é das antigas eh!

I replicated that scene tossing a garden shovel into the side of a propped up kiddie pool when I was a kid. My mom was _not_ amused!

Did you blow up her garden shed?

He'd be the 6 Billion Dollar Man or even the 60 Billion Dollar Man today. And he'd be worth it.
And he'd have a reinforced spine this time to handle the load his legs and arm would put on it.

They should not have packed that van with explosives.
Never have Hollywood design your bag guy vehicle.

My childhood TV series 😊
Classic TV 📺 hit.
Basically, Steve Austin threw a 200 pound cement javelin which is going to make short work of anything that is at the receiving end!😊
I loved this episode early in the series showing how the cold was Steve's & Jaimie's kryptonite to their bionics.
From 'Population Zero'', my fave 6Mill episode; freaky when he goes all frosty-faced in the freezer!
Roger that Steve. It’s a direct hit. 😂
To bad we dont have honest heroes like lee majors to look to up to he was the man
He still is the man !
Lee Majors ( bionic man) was cool and took care of business back in the day
This episode is called "Population Zero ". It was the first one i saw as a little kid. 😁🇺🇸

Coolest White Boy for all of the 70s...clothes style women morals etc👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾✌🏾
Always loved the show - but it's nothing without the sound effects!
How to wipe out a truck with a giant cotton bud.
I always wondered when he had the bionic back installed!
In the pilot movie they specified that they reinforced his spine and skeleton to take the strain of the bionic limbs.
Notice Steve only covered 1 ear, not both, like everyone else

The bionic sound effects wouldn't be introduced until "Day of the Robot", three episodes later. Even then, they weren't used for Steve's bionics.
