Fantastic machine indeed, Tomasz! Great testing and review, thanks! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks, you too!
Tomasz, very good review of a lazer that would be a good performer in anyone's workshop. Quality and price are a plus.
Yes I'm quite surprised with the price as you do get a quality machine
Great video Tom ❤ what do you do with all your older models ? Do you ebay them? Because soon will need a bigger workshop 😊
Hehe some of them go back, some go to other youtubers, some sit in my attic waiting for to be used in a video 👍😅
Have viewed all of your videos on laser engravers/cutters. Which one would you recommend for a hobbyist/diy'er that would produce crisp results with minimum burn showing on fromnt and back of project. Watched a lot of your other videos and am well impressed with your presentations and feedback
If you want to cut materials then I would recommend lasers with 30W power they can cut in thicker materials but also at higher speeds that means less overburn, but if you invest in air pump for the air assist then you won't have any issues with overburn. To be fair the 30W lasers I tested are very good and at more or less similar price tag. So it's the extra features that may sway you either way. However a cheaper alternative will be the 10-20W modules. If you need cutting again the 20W modules will do a better job. For engraving the 10W will do just fine. On my channel I don't allow lasers that are just rubbish, I think that would be a waste of my time and time of my viewers. That means they are all good. Each will have some small advantages, design ideas etc. But overall they are all good at what they do. It's down to you to way the price tags and potential features you may be interested in.
And by the way I'm just testing a laser from less know make but it has one awesome feature, super simple thing but an immense life quality improvement I've not seen in any other laser machine. However I can't talk about it until the end of the month 😢 but it's awesome- at least for me it is as I love laser engravers and cutters 🤣
One thing I would not recommend buying is the older models of any make, yes the may be cheaper but I found from my viewers that quite often companies just drop support for those older models. So I would go for something newish.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep an eye out for this new laser review @@CasualDIY
Very nice review! one question though. I can't find any specs on the outside dimensions of this device, which i would like to know given the restricted space inside my enclosure.
Would you be so kind to provide the outside dimensions?
Related to engraving slate:
Power for slate is WAY to high....my 5W laser i have to set to 40% power even.
What you are seeing right now is "melting" of the slate, resulting is microscopic glass beads.
If you reduce the power, the engraving on slate will be nice and sharp.
Cheers!
Cool thank you for the tip. Not messed around with slate yet so any tips are welcome. I'm away from my workshop till Friday. If you could remind me then I'll measure the machine up for you.
@@CasualDIY You’re more then welcome and thanks in advance for taking the time. I’ll remind you 😉
@@CasualDIY I'll remind you NOW, uh, like 9 MONTHS AGO you were asked... ;-(
Hi does it do on glass eg wine glass and mirrors
Not sure about mirrors, but with glasses you just need to prep them first, add some coating like a marker pen.
Hi what one of this but l am in botswana and wld love to knw where l can order one
Links for this machine are in the description of this video.
Can this cut 3mm MDF?
Can't see why not. Make sure you got an enclosure or something to wentilate those toxic fumes from cutting MDF
F Y I... The vent hood I ordered was the Twotrees TS2.... Room to spare with dimensions of 800mm x 800mm x 400mm.... It comes with a small fan which will be supplemented with an inline fan and I'll add a strip of COB LED's. The nice feature of this hood is that is has a velcro door on the left side - front that will provide a cross air flow to the right side - rear fan port. A note on these 35 dollar inline fans; The squirrel cage type blades have a fairly large gap between the blades and the housing. I used a strip of fairly stiff thin plastic and tapped it around on the intake port, making the blade to case distance ~1/16 of an inch. This "baffling" helped the air that the blades sucked to not sneak out from around the large gap that it had before modification. My very "unscientific testing" revealed a 37.95% airflow increase that really helped this fan do the job. The neighbors complained that my fan output blew over their yard furniture and I said tough $hit 🙂🙂🙂... NOOOOO. A good video without any BS.. Thanks
Very interesting, I do have a similar fan I think. Super powerful and I do have a cordless remote.
@@CasualDIY I cut a circular piece of the 1/16" plastic the diameter of the fan blades and temporarily placed it on the top edge of the blades. Then when fastening-taping the strips of plastic to use as a baffle, the plastic placed on top of the blades acted as a "gauge" to keep the installed plastic strip an equidistant from the blades. It is a very effective way to increase the "suction" and therefore the "blow" performance of the fan. With my fan placed at the exhaust end of the 4 inch ducting, any smoke in the hood dissipates in a VERY short time.... AND, with this type of fan housing-two piece clam-shell, I also placed a strip of black electrical tape around the joint of where the two fan halves are joined....
Mam wrazenie ze moja pompa powietrza nie dziala, nie wydaje absolutnie zadnego dzwieku i tak jest od poczatku zakupu, ty tez tak masz?
A włączasz ją w systemie żeby chodziła w Lightburn.
@@CasualDIY tzn tam gdzie są warstwy, mam włączoną
@@iskrazpolski1715 to trzeba zobaczyć podłączenie kabla zasilającego. Ona tylko chodzi jak laser pracuje i w systemie jest ustawiona jej praca.
how do you setup this ? my windows 7 won't recognise the machine ...
Did you check the software requirements, what's the oldest Windows it will run on? I think Windows 7 is way too old.
@@CasualDIY needed some old drivers for usb serial and now works like champion
@@mihgio3235great to hear that, would never think of that 🤔
How's the customer support?
Had no issues with my lasers from Longer so had no dealings with the customer support, its a bigish well known brand so I hope its not too bad.
@@CasualDIY cool. I've been on the fence between this one and the 40w one. For the price and being my first I'm going to go with the 30w. Thanks for the reply. Earned a sub and a like for a nice video
@@AB_thingsDFW I think the 30W is the sweet spot, good engraving quality and solid cutting performance. Thank you and welcome aboard 👍
I am in botswana and wld love to order one kindly advise where to get it from and how much
I'm going to try to use my current vent hood with the B1. The dimensions are stated as (28.6x26.3x9.4 in), but, can you please clarify as to what is the WIDTH measurement and DEPTH measurement - front to back?? Thanks for your reply. I got a good overview of my B1 with you video before it arrives home ;-)
My Longer is in storage right now as soon as I get to it I'll let you know
@@CasualDIY I got it.... The Longer b1 is huge and what I found id the hood for the Twotrees TS2. About a hundred bucks and fits with a bit of room to spare..
