Just the fact that a stock M340i wagon runs around mid 10s 100-200 is absolutely incredible. I wouldn't even think of tuning the car. It's super fast stock. A jb4 with downpipe or bootmod would put the time at almost 11s flat on the quarter mile, with a sub 8s 100-200 time.
Quite disappointed about mine honestly i was expecting a faster car. Numbers are great but sliding a 1880kg car is something else… and i’m not even talking about it’s breaking capabilities

This is no chiptune, but a boxtune, hence the connection to the OBD. Any kind of boxtune is totally worthless! Not only do you get happy numbers with less hp and Nm, but also: What the box does is to manipulate all the sensors to the engine, making the engine believe that everything is just fine with no sign of malfunctions! While in the background you get errors (that you won't see ) from: ESP, EGR, wrong exhaust temperature, incorrect Nm figures, incorrect values for cars with auto gearbox... etc etc... the list is long... Chiptune however talks with your engine!!! Hence why you reprogram the ECU to get correct values while the parameters are being carefully controled and monitored by the new ECU program!! No manipulation of sensors is being done!!! People, stay as far as you can from boxes!!! With time the box will ruin implemented important safety functions in your engine and gearbox! AutoTopNL, Stop advertising this crap to your viewers!!! Not many know what this box does to their cars!!! And please remove that box from your car!!!

@@nilp2000 I dont agree to this. In my BMW 330e lays the exact same engine as the 330i. But the 330i makes 70 more HP. Those engines are capable of more but BMW makes them slower on purpose.

Guys, just a short notations..According the performance numbers the chip should be much stronger, or the numbers are not right! But many of you worried about the piggy back box, which is ˝tricking˝ the ECU. I have to tell you, the famous German tuner, AC-Schnitzer also giving piggy back box for my M140i and have TÜV certification and warranty included! Now, I ordered a Racechip tune for my friend VW Bettle..and we will see the result
This is horible for the engine.. You are tricking your ecu into seing lower or higher values from the sensors.. Short term this is okay but what on a hot summer day? Heatsoaked engine and the racechip is sending data to the ecu thinking its nice and cool so it adds more power you start having detonation and BOOM... Just wait till someone figures out how to tune the ecu and avoid this garbage... The racechip works as a piggyback so it intercepts the signals coming into the ecu and modifys them. For instance the intake temp sensor is showing 50°C and the racechip is modifying it to lets say 30°C... yeah more power but you are removing the engine protection features of the ecu. also not to talk about the AFR numbers I only see it adding more boost but not fuel? not all ecu's can compensate with the fuel trims.
This is garbage tuning...you just trick the sensors. Either a proper ECU tuning ( not really possible now due to new Bosch ECU protection) or stock. I wouldn't install such garbage boxes.
At least someone who understands. 3M subs and promoting such garbage just because they got sponsored. Either flash proper OTS maps from renowned tuners like MHD or BM3 or - even better - get a custom remap from a reputable tuner. Even if the latest bosch ecu's can't be tuned yet (although @femtoevo can already bench unlock them so it won't take long) I would never add something like racechip to any car.
My Opinion: I tested racechip, a cheap software, and an expensive Software. On my 535d 2009. Result: Racechip feels agressiv, but makes the car not fast. And sometimes the car has Problems with the gearbox (so i think to much torque and the gearbox thaugt it was less tourque). So from 1 - 10 i would give the racechip an 5. cheap software: Gearbox good, but not sooo fast. Little bit faster than stock. But more harmonic. So i would give a 7. expensive Software (with gearbox optimized): So you have a faster Gearbox, you have a faster car (think 2 - 3 Seconds faster than the cheap software for real). but, its expensive. So here i would give a 10. So if you buy racechip, your engine get joked by the box. So its not optimal for the engine. I think for the same price you would get a software. Everytime i think, its the best solution! Its more harmonic, and the most time, you have the protection for getting a hot engine. So with racechip i think not, because of the joking of the box. Thats dangerous. So sometimes you have free autobahn, and gett full speed. Then the car could get very hot. So the engine gets problems maybe.
Sorry for 2 years late on but you have 3 major flaw in your argument: 1: the ecu is locked 2: not all area in the world has a proven tuner 3: not all workshop has a dyno machine especially the awd dyno So here you go you're welcome

Na duze staze mi je to sumnjivo, dosta je auto dobio a nista od komponenti menjano nije (opet nije B58 slab, naprotiv je podlozan tjuniranju). Posedujem auto i zaista nema potrebe po meni da garanciju unistis zbog povecanja konjaze na auto koji vec ima sasvim solidne performanse.
Are you installing the Racechip for guarantee reasons as well? I mean if you have a malfunction it’s very easy to just remove the racechip and go to the dealer.

So it differs per car, per unit and per software variant. If I guessed.. between 6 and 9 months. Same for the last M3/M4, cause they possibly use the same coding. Tough new M3/M4's are on hold cause of problems with the S58 engine. For my car there is only one guy on the whole world(an Italian guy) that cracked that Bosch ecu.
Idk i do not like the idea of having that much gain with almost everything left in stock. I see the intake, dunno about the downpipes for better flow? Anyways from what i know, M340i stage 1 done in a reputable tuner house is around 420 horses, anything above, you need to proceed to stage 2+. Another 40 horses more concern me a lot. Also, i am talking about long term reliability, couple of years, per se.
I'm going to ask something that maybe no one came here for BUT I saw there is an eco mode. Can you increase your MPG with that tune? I mean, if I'm going on a long trip, I'd love to open the app and start getting 40 MPG.

Can’t enlighten you with power gains, but I’ve just installed a racechip on my 2021 MHT M340i and the gains I’m seeing on draggy are similar/slightly better than he gets in this video
If you want a good chipbox buy a burger tuning chip, my dad bought both and tried both in his 328i. The performance gain from burger tuning is far better than racechip Even that i'd recommend an ecu remap instead.
the only problem hold me back from icu remap is there is no turning back, also the dashboard warning lights might not work properly since its fully remapped, eg. the engine is damaged but the warning light doesnt show.
You get used to the power so quick. My daily has 200hp 450nm. Drove several cars with twice or three times the amount of power which my car is. At some point they felt kind of slow too. Hence why I find a 200hp diesel more then enough as a daily.

You’re supposed to tune the transmission when tuning the engine to adjust for the increased power. It could harm the transmission if you’re doing a lot of 0-60’s, but for normal driving… should be fine.
In Canada the m340 speedometer only goes to 260, is it possible to get the limiter coded away? I noticed 330kmh as the top speed on your touring. Great video by the way!
On a side note, M340i owners what are your ownership thoughts on it? I’m considering one and would like to hear general thoughts and any problems you’ve had with it
@@bmf5420 I was supposed to get the 330i and tune it but the m340i is the best value for performance you can get….unless you can afford an M3 and even in that case I would advise the M5 instead. I’m not gonna lie, I could afford only m340…..so when I realized that it was as quick as a 2018 M3, you can imagine how I felt.

As soon as you power the car on with the racechip, even if you don't even start the car for the first time ever, the fact that the racechip was detected by the ECU during the initialization process, say GOODBYE to warranty lol. All mods are great but I would like to see suspension tuning. Car seats to high (cat can sleep on the front wheel) and wheels are a little bit “inside” the car.
Because the ECU is closed. We have the newest version of Bosch ECUs out of the box - only a russian and american team can open the box - and you have to send the ECU over there. It's not funny that you can't use your car for some weeks...

Sedan M340i (xdrive) here, it's pretty fast stock but it puts the power down so effortlessly that you'll be craving more ponies pretty quickly.

I have a RaceChip GTS since 1 year in my BMW 320d F31 and it's really works. 100-200: stock 28 sek, with RaceChip 21 sek.

No. It's 2022 not 1982. Modern engines are much more durable with plenty of overhead.

Not for this ECU yet. ECU is still locked atm. Only older *40i engines. Like from the previous 340i or 140i or so.

@@bmf5420 I was supposed to get the 330i and tune it but the m340i is the best value for performance you can get….unless you can afford an M3 and even in that case I would advise the M5 instead. I’m not gonna lie, I could afford only m340…..so when I realized that it was as quick as a 2018 M3, you can imagine how I felt.
@@pipikakachu I agree, M340i is probably the best all rounder you can buy right now. I was considering F80 Competition but obviously it’d cost more to run than the 40i. Plus the amount of technology you get in the 40i makes it so appealing

Tge ECU isnt locked, it isnt locked since 1year or so 😅
because your ecu is locked , that chip/piggy tail tune, fools ecu with wrong numbers to get more power, try it with on n/a engines

All mods are great but I would like to see suspension tuning. Car seats to high (cat can sleep on the front wheel) and wheels are a little bit “inside” the car.

Because the ECU is closed. We have the newest version of Bosch ECUs out of the box - only a russian and american team can open the box - and you have to send the ECU over there. It's not funny that you can't use your car for some weeks...
