I am one of those "wimmin" looking for the "no big deal" method, taking all the mystery out of doing concrete repair around my house. I learn so much from your channel... and end up saying, "I can DO this!" after watching every video. Thank you!
The axe is brilliant. Most guys would haul out an angle grinder and spit dust all over the place which would annoy the homeowner, the neighbors, and be a PITA to clean up. Naturally, power tools make a lot of jobs easier, but I'm like you in that I'm fine with doing stuff by hand in a lot of cases. When you're doing projects for yourself and not on the clock for someone else, sometimes old school is more rewarding. Thanks again Mike, for sharing your experience and expertise.

hahaha ... just like i said on the last video .... remember that list of problems? you took off your shirt again and all the wimmins came over to ask you for help. no sympathy from me anymore. you brought that on yourself. great job again MIKE!!!! hope the jokes are ok. thanks always for these vids.
Nice job Mike... great info. Love how you provide so much detail on techniques. I need to understand the various types of cements, glues, adhesives, and mixtures. Thanks for great info

Sometimes I wish you were in upstate NY just so I could hire you for my house. Thanks to your videos, I continue to work at it though and I am getting there.
I've got a porch project 8ftx6ft pad lots of water damage and freeze damage to the front porch of my 100yr old home so I removed most of the large pieces dug down about 2ft leveled it up with large slag and course sand then layed in a metal mesh added high strength concrete and put the pieces back, theyve been setting up for about 25 days so far haven't put anything else on it but it has rained here for 6 days.i will reinstall the 6x6 posts at the ends of the porch to hold up the porch roof it's not that heavy till it snows.i was going to reinforce the pad by drilling 1inch holes in sideways and installing re bar to connect the peices then do the same to the pad drill about 10 holes and add rebar.with more high strength concrete on top with a good binder agent in the mix or do you think I'm going overboard with this .....I live in ohio.....wish there was a way to send you a picture.
I can't lift 100 lbs bags of cement so I am trying to get 59 lbs bags, but I can only find in one store and they only sell white. I don't want the white look and will probably add a little color such as a light sandstone or light gray colorant. If I try to hos that down with a light coloring, do you think it will run or get splotches in a very noticeable way? I'm really not that fussy, but then I don't want an unsightly mess, either. After spending a week or mor scraping the paint on one side of the house, and I'm still not done, I probably won't paint over it with Drylok when I'm done coating it with cement or whatever (unless you think I should), so the cement color will show.
Hi Exeter, cement fades and changes colors naturally, I almost never add colors unless I am trying to match a stucco or brick joint. I would do some experiments first, or start at a place no one sees. It takes a few days to really see how it will look, thanks Mike
My foundation looks very similar to the one in this video. I want to do what you are doing here, only I have a couple of questions. In another video, you mentioned that you don't have to use the bonding agent on cinder blocks and I don't think you did. But in this one you are. Not sure if I need to use it. Second, what is the purpose of the fiber glass? I didn't see you add the fiber glass in the other video. Thank you.
Thanks , the foundation in this video I wanted it to make sure it stuck, with the cinder blocks they were never gone over before so glue was not necessary, thanks mike
Believe it or not I've used Bondo Glass (not the regular stuff.. it has fiberglass fibers in it) on the cracks on my stucco house. Always seems to hold up well and drys fast and then I can sand it. I did quite a few cracks before I repainted last year.
Why didn't you use the white Portland paint that you talked about in an older video for the part underneath the patio? It seems like it would be perfect for that. What am I missing? Great videos, thanks for all the information.
Mike. Unrelated question. If you pour gravel and encounter God stone rocks, would you incorporate it into the gravel, cement, use it along the boarder or discard it?
I'm confused about stucco. I have a 150 yr old house and the stucco is breaking/buckling next to the driveway. I keep hearing about weep screeds to let moisture out but also heard those are relatively new (1980's) So should I put in a weep screed or just patch it up? Almost afraid to start in case I reveal a total mess underneath I can't do or afford. Was quoted 30,000 to redo the whole house. No one calls back unless it's to EIF the entire house. Frustrating.
Hey Mike, With that horizontal crack, how are you sure the base of the stair foundation wasn't the part moving? I'm just curious, always heard those types of cracks are bad news.
