I’m sure this is a stupid question but I don’t understand why not make one single cut along the top of the blade as opposed to making the short perpendicular cuts and then doing it anyway? What’s the reason for this?

What blade steel, what handle material, what quench oil, what quench temp, what temper temp and duration? You've provided practically no hard information with this video. Moreover, you didn't include a sheath. No kind of camping knife comes without a sheath.

Good looking little knife that.
Love the contrast between the liners and scales. Only thing that looks just a little better in my eyes is black fine linnen micarta with red liners.
Dig the mosiac pin! Absolutely awesome little knife that would look so good in my collection.... Hahahaha. Nicely done.
