    Nice job. I’ve always liked this blade design. With the wood scales it looks like a modern classic.

    for cutting out the shape of the blade i recommend that you use angle grinder and clean it up on the belt grinder it saves so much time

    • @Inmyshed
      @Inmyshed  Місяць тому

      Hi! thanks for the tip! I do not think my angle grinder skills are that good that i would even try, hehe. Besides. 30 grit belts eats up the metal pretty fast!

    Nice consistency with those. That’s something I’m not good at so every knife I make is one of a kind.

    Leatherworker here, for the most part you are doing good work, a lot of it is experience. My few suggestions for improvement would be first in leather quality, it is pricier but well worth it to get either wickett and craig or hermann oak, both put out really high quality stuff. the next thing would be get two flat boards for example and some high density foar or some blankets and sandwich the knife and sheath in that with some pressure to mold it a bit more and not leave marks like those clamps did. when doing the edges up a little wax can give them a nice shine. as a bit more of a personal preference thing give barge cement a try as an adhesive for leather. hope you find this little rant helpful

    • @Inmyshed
      @Inmyshed  10 місяців тому +1

      Hi! thank you for you feedback. as you can see, I am no leather expert, but i think the leather quality is good. It was costly, is durable and really stay hard when dry. Is there something other then that I should be looking for? I will try to make something to sandwich them in. That's a great ide. I glued leather to the clams I use, in an attempt to not leave marks, but failed for the most part. I finished them off with renaissance wax, do you recommend using another product? Thank you so much!

      @@Inmyshed good old bees wax and a hard cloth do the trick, now as to the leather, this is just what I am seeing on a video and not from handling it of course, it looks like the rough side is a bit on the stringy side, almost like some of it could decompress, for lack of a better word, I see it on a few of the shots and is particularly visible on the side strap, also from how your edges were slicking, again leatherwork is a lot about experience and it's the type you have to get the hard way, my third attempt at a sheath was a lot less impressive than what you showed in this video, which speaks rather well of your ability to craft. If you want to chat elsewhere let me know a d I'll try to send you pics of what I mean and an example of a press I made.

    I’m not being rude so please don’t take it like that. And nope there are no videos of me making knife sheathes. Don’t ask for input, it’s like telling the sight impaired what blue looks like. Look for videos on knife sheathes and watch them. Even old ones can teach a lot. If a picture is worth a thousand words what’s a movie worth, right? There’s a lot of folks who make nothing but sheathes and holsters for people. Watch them, you already make super nice knives. Now make the sheathes.

    • @karlalton3170

      @@karlalton3170 I wasn’t but I will. If you had listened to what he said during the video you wouldn’t look as intelligent as you do now. He asked for in put, instead of trying to explain something to a person who could be next door or 7,000 miles away I just made a suggestion. I have no doubt at all you are a woke person, now try being awake.

    You need to put your knife in a vice when you drill holes in it .if not the bit can grab it and twist it out of your hand. I know this because it happened to me and cut my hand open and took 10 stitches to sow it up.i lost the feeling in my thumb and finger so be very careful

    No quench? Get rid of that toaster oven and temper in your kiln. Not sure why you would even use a crappy toaster oven when you have a heat treat oven/kiln, it makes no sense. Did you normalize 3 times?
    Forge On!!!

    • @Inmyshed
      @Inmyshed  26 днів тому

      Hi! Look at 5:15, i quench it between two aluminum plates. And that is not a crappy toaster oven, its my kitchen oven, and its great :D I have a really small workshop. if i remember correct, its 200cm x 220 cm. One day, when I own a garage, I will start forging. I am dreaming about forging every day, but as of know, I don't want to burn down my neighborhood, hehe
