glad to see my farvorite wurlitzer is still there although sad that it don't get played anymore. i hope that if someone buys the theatre that the wurlitzer will remain in place.

@Marshall7302 FYI Regular members have been allowed to go into the senate to play the organ. The organ is in place at the Senate and still very much playable.

@Organgrinder1010 damn right it all works .. the entire organ with exception of small functional additions (trem pistons and traps) the organ functions as it would have in the Fisher THeater in the 20s Alot of recent undertaking completed the 90% restoration of the relay system. Shes fast and she works.

@organist45 well you will be happy to know the Senate Theater is re-opening on May 15 With Jelani Eddington as the organist. The organ has been restored and is now operating. The search for a new home for this organ has come to an end and we will be investing into the Senate once again to keep her up and running for another 60 years. I am happy about this, and i look forward to getting more people involved, and returning to my position at the theater. PS spread the news if you can. :)

@Marshall7302 Can you imagine ANY solid state relays or multiplex system that will be functioning in ninety years? Yet with ongoing care the relays in this organ will still be serving several generations down the road! And when something fails, you can find the problem and fix it. No computer system I know can be kept going that way.

@Organgrinder1010 Actually I can foresee some basic, but code compliant mil-spec solid state SCR's going strong for a few generations. You can buy them surplus, build simple plug-in cards, and hermetically seal in a box with diirections- all of the components to fix and service a newly replaced set, for several generations beyond that even. This would avoid circuit boards and microprocessors anyway. BTW the technology I'm talking about is already 50 years old itself.

@Marshall7302 (Continued) We would have lost the relay system completely due to wirering codes for buildings. this organ has been installed at the Senate for longer then it was installed at the Fisher Theater, where it came from. If i could. i would re-wire the entire relay, to code keeping the electro pneumatic actions, and i would only like one thing to a new design.. and thats the setter board, replacing the setter board with something electronic, but.. lose the authenticity so no.

@maplewoodsp the senate theater has been closed for just about a year to the public... i myself turned in my keys around march these videos were taken last year. The organ is still in place but is not playable i believe while they continue to restore the rest of the organ, The DTOS is trying unsuccessfully to find both a buyer for the Senate and a new home for the Fisher Organ. Ironically the organ has been installed and working at the senate theater for longer then it was ever at the Fisher.

@JoePeterzak well 2 things... my camera is VERY sensitive till there is sound,so the gain is maxed out. there is a HUGE main regulator thats right below me that does leak. All theater organs leak... its sometimes politely called Air Noise. Theater organs operate at higher wind pressure, and because of that.. EVERYTHING leaks. More so durring the dry winter months.. which is when this was shot, if you notice in my combination console action, some tabstops are slow to respond because of it

I noted the date of Jan. 5, 2011 and you state it resides in the Senate. I thought it had been removed and placed in storage. I am confused. :) Thanks for posting.

I agree but I also think it's a double-edged sword. Solid state very well COULD be working after 90 years. Do I want to bet on it? No, not really, lol, but there's nothing saying they can't. But moreso, the SS gives far more flexibility as they're far more user friendly and versatile. And computerization also gives you MIDI and playback capability. The old relays could never do that and they're maintenance intensive. It's cool to keep the original working and I like it, but SS has its place too.

@Organgrinder1010 there has been some vulgarity in the use of the word multiplexing the connection between the organ and the relay, gutting the console and some want it re-spec but it would never go and or be tolerated but the club, however, this organ is used ALOT... probably more then most on a regular basis, and it is NOT in a climate controlled environment, so contacts are starting to wear on the stop tabs in the console and things like that, now the theater did close and we would have lost

@ryst19 there was a board meeting on thursday regarding the sale of the theater, ive asked for my keys back because there was hope that they could re-open to public in march, nothing yet has gotten back to me , i am aware the organ is still installed however, with only a hand full of members with keys, the organ dosnt get the use it needs to keep working properly, I am a regular member i was also acting theater manager because im the closest to the theater. Im still waiting. lol.

@maplewoodsp i have many more videos... from years past both concert clips and internal working clips that i will be uploading. everything i can to get this unique organ on the map some how, along with a couple other users on youtube, because i feel that this organ may never play the same again. :( the longer it sits the worse its going to get, and the longer certain obsticals/people keep holding us back finding a new home the more people in high power are going to loose interest.

Wow, sounds like a hurricane in there.
Does this relay have many air-leaks ?
