I really liked squid game because even though there were only a few characters the show focused on even the side characters felt like they had real character, from the start to death.
Squid Game is one of the best shows I have seen in a long time, the production, story, acting, music, visual style is absolutely top notch, so much hard work goes behind the scenes to make it, so many creative people truly came up with a masterpiece. 👏👏👏👏
The way the childlike sets contrast the gruesome murders is so coolll like the pastel colours in the stairs, the nostalgia in marbles, the playground in honeycomb
Not only in this drama. Korean productions don’t rely mainly on CGIs. They always create and invest their sets. They wanted that the actors would feel how is like to be in that world.
Bigger budget Korean films use a ton of CGI and very well done CGI, but yeah Korean tv dramas are pretty good about actually using sets, much the same as American television productions.
I absolutely LOVED squid game. The suspense, the acting, the attention to detail, it was all AMAZING to me. Ngl I kinda expected “hide and seek” to be one of the games just because it’s one of the most popular games worldwide to play as a kid. But who knows? Maybe they’ll add it in Season 2 (assuming there is one).
if you understand Korean, it's much deeper when you watch this series. Fortunately i studied Korean a while back so i know every they say in the movie without subtitle or voice over. One example, when Ali was calling for Sang-Woo and he kept saying "hyung", it means "big brother" from one male to another in Korea. Ali truly loved and looked up to SangWoo since day 1 and til the end to only get betrayed by SangWoo and died.
I'm Korean, when the woman called the bully 'Oppa', it was translated into 'old man', which sounds very weird. You many know of the meaning of Oppa basicially. In Korea, women older than 40 usually don't use the term except to her really elder brother.
I just gotta say, major respect for the makers of this show. Nowadays directors seem so lazy and just keep remaking movies or cliched ideas and filling them with the same actors, uninteresting sets, and TONS of CGI, so having something with a TON of thought and effort and love was poured into it is extremely refreshing and I wish we had more of that
you can make money from home through your Mobile phone or PC with little invest as capital you will make profits from immediately after 48hrs 4days and 7days of trade .
Not sure if anyone noticed, but the part where everyone is supposed to pair up, the "staff" expected the old man (the game master) to be the odd one out, so they ordered the pink guys to "not kill the one without pair"
Ya the way I realized the old guy was the game master was the scene where he was "shot" you heard no "thud" of the body falling down and it obviously wasn't a audio mistake as the folly artist included the footstep it not like they would forget the thud and then I was like, I heard no thud of the old man falling from being shot...he's number 001...he seems to know all about the games... HE LITTERALY SAID THE GAME SET WAS HIS HOME HE GREW UP IN! All in like 1 second Then later I realized the front man or the game coordinator thought the old man would not get a teamate for marbles and thats why the person with no team get to live (but instead of old man it was the lady)
Red light, green light was the most intense for me. A giant doll with scanning eyes 👀 if you move an inch, you're dead. Its all so creepy and terrifying. The stairs are my second favorite, Escher was an amazing artist, I used to look at his book of art when I was young. The 3D images he created were like nothing else at the time. And still very much like a puzzle. The rooms get darker and darker as the games go on. Showing the darkness that lurks through the city after so many died. This show deserves awards. It is so original as well. So well written. Now we want to know whats going to happen, if we ever do. I hope.
The writing, the set design, the acting…oh the acting - I mean even down to the extras. Wow. You can tell every single person on this set took this shit seriously and genuinely gave their best efforts. This show makes me wanna do reviews just so I can talk about it more. Good studf
Kdramas are always detailed. To the props, to backstories of every characters, even support characters has interesting backstories. Making Korean series/movies way ahead of other countries. Koreans are perfectionists, and we can notice it on their works. If you watch more korean series or movies. Most will definitely have an impact on you. They know how to make you cry and laugh literally.
i recommend Goblin (recruiter dude from squid game is main actor) It's a fantasy romance story that portrays great emotion and drama. Crash Landing on You, It's a story about a woman accidentally falling into North Korea, it has great action scenes + gives insight into north korean life. Vincenzo (available in english dub if you dont like subtitles) It's a black comedy about a korean lawyer who works for the italian mafia but comes back to korea in order to get his hidden gold stash. Great action scenes + great storytelling. Romance is only a subplot if you're not into that. Kingdom (also in english dub) Basically The Walking Dead but set in historical Korea.
There’s just SOMETHING about that Greenlight Redlight set that does it for me. Creepy but weirdly mesmerising. And the way the scene played out as well, and the players’ reactions to what was happening, all masterfully done.
@@andreabecerril364 Yea Breaking Bad is really good but it’s not a Netflix made series. I think in terms of Netflix produced shows this one is by far the best
So glad I watched Squid Game in Korean with English subtitles. It’s weird seeing the English dubbing in this making of video. The giant doll in Red Light Green Light is so much cooler with her sing song voice in Korean, for example.
Koreans been putting out great movies, they just dont have much of an international platform back then. Hope the international media see this as an opportunity for reruns and streaming of their earlier works.
Its cool how South Korea is being number 1 in music and film industry, they're always into quality of the product so even those people like me who can't understand Hanggul (before) can be hooked by it. They're the master when it comes to building unique ideas.
All I have is a WOW. It's about time Asian people cat the actual recognition on an international level. And the writing in South Korea has always been really good.
Loved it! 🎮The Playstation shapes on the guards I'm sure was also not coincidence. Connecting old school gaming w/ a silent nod to how kids primarily game now
It was actually a reference to the shapes required to make the Squid Game Court. A triangle for the head, square for the body, and circles for the tip and center.
@@Deeperall, h o w. You can’t simply think everything is CGI. They still have to walk on the ground with all the dirt, which leaves marks. If you thought the guy who died sliding down the slide wasn’t on a slide that’s just sad. And for red light green light, it was almost pretty obvious that it wasn’t CGI.
I think from a acting perspective, the glass bridge is the scariest. Even know its safe, stepping a glass that breaks is still scary as hell. Then tug of war is second scariest
hands down, the best series ive watched on Netflix. the suspense, the acting, the scripts...definitely an underrated series and i can not wait for season 2!
And I think one of the reasons why the series is so good is because the script and the story is well prepeared and well written, cause the director said that he started to write it back in 2008, right?
@@Slayer0fSun right, no one can Atleast give credit to the English dub actors, I personally think both did quite good, but I like Korean better, but English wasn’t that bad as well.
THIS IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT! If we can have enough budget we can make the best sets for the actors. It brings out genuine reaction and that alone is an amazing addition to the scene. As much as possible, less CGI is the best. Fantasy themed might struggle but it's something we can do in the future

Iu87u8yu77uiijughujhkiiiuohkjhuifuihjkkhlk
Exactly what I thought
Not only in this drama. Korean productions don’t rely mainly on CGIs. They always create and invest their sets. They wanted that the actors would feel how is like to be in that world.
Bigger budget Korean films use a ton of CGI and very well done CGI, but yeah Korean tv dramas are pretty good about actually using sets, much the same as American television productions.
While watching the main thing I noticed was the set design , holy shit every single person that worked on this show was masterful
and that’s literally what i felt and enjoyed so much! easily one of my fav shows!!!
But the ones I’ve seen r with so many cgis tho or some which they don’t use bc it’s not supposed to be with cgi like modern dramas and so
Korean movies/dramas/actors/actresses ON A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL HONESTLY

I absolutely LOVED squid game. The suspense, the acting, the attention to detail, it was all AMAZING to me. Ngl I kinda expected “hide and seek” to be one of the games just because it’s one of the most popular games worldwide to play as a kid. But who knows? Maybe they’ll add it in Season 2 (assuming there is one).

🔴🔵🟡I ABSOLUTLEY LOVED THE YUNG FLAKE GAME ua-cam.com/video/qjVXpn1fV38/v-deo.html
if you understand Korean, it's much deeper when you watch this series.
Ikr thinking about it more makes me cry… when he calls out hyung, it really means he trusted sangwoo the whole time :(
@@StellaKouevi-uu3se yep, it was brutal and heartbreaking for sure!
I'm Korean, when the woman called the bully 'Oppa', it was translated into 'old man', which sounds very weird. You many know of the meaning of Oppa basicially. In Korea, women older than 40 usually don't use the term except to her really elder brother.
@@rohrichbeau1004 yea some translation is so weird.
I just gotta say, major respect for the makers of this show. Nowadays directors seem so lazy and just keep remaking movies or cliched ideas and filling them with the same actors, uninteresting sets, and TONS of CGI, so having something with a TON of thought and effort and love was poured into it is extremely refreshing and I wish we had more of that
gg
well the producer had enough patience to stick to his story for 10 years. That says enough about how committed he is
Notice where the director is from also...not hollywood!
@@laneythelame yeah Hollywood sucks. We need newer, younger directors that actually care about the craft rather than just money
I agree they really put in work which makes a difference!
Bollywood can never touch this kind of creativeness with sets and visuals. The camera work was amazing when players used to fight to kill each other.

Not sure if anyone noticed, but the part where everyone is supposed to pair up, the "staff" expected the old man (the game master) to be the odd one out, so they ordered the pink guys to "not kill the one without pair"
OOOOOH
AAAAHHHH
Ya the way I realized the old guy was the game master was the scene where he was "shot" you heard no "thud" of the body falling down
and it obviously wasn't a audio mistake as the folly artist included the footstep it not like they would forget the thud
and then I was like, I heard no thud of the old man falling from being shot...he's number 001...he seems to know all about the games... HE LITTERALY SAID THE GAME SET WAS HIS HOME HE GREW UP IN! All in like 1 second
Then later I realized the front man or the game coordinator thought the old man would not get a teamate for marbles and thats why the person with no team get to live (but instead of old man it was the lady)
It makes sense
@@ShadNex I knew something was up when they did not show him getting shot. You only hear the shot, but you don't see it.
I hope.

Kdramas are always detailed. To the props, to backstories of every characters, even support characters has interesting backstories. Making Korean series/movies way ahead of other countries. Koreans are perfectionists, and we can notice it on their works.

any recommendations?
i recommend Goblin (recruiter dude from squid game is main actor) It's a fantasy romance story that portrays great emotion and drama.
To me this seemed like a real life Anime, a good one but i would not call it ahead of everything else
