I think it’s funny that people are offended. He’s not the only person that says this about yoga. Listen to stories of people who have been delivered by God from this practice. And if you still want to do yoga, why are you so upset about his opinion? It’s almost like it hits a nerve in people for a reason😂
I bet he doesn't even know what he's calling yoga . What Yoga is and what this Stretching that he calls Yoga is a part of.
Our son is "dabbling" in yoga and isn't saved. I sent this to him. I pray he watches it. Thanks. Blessings.
Yoga isn't dangerous. You should look outside of Christian extremist based videos to get a more realistic perspective on the benefits of yoga. A lot of these videos are misleading or make yoga seem scary which it isn't. Yoga is backed by science and has many therapeutic effects on the body and mind...
He said Doing Yoga is Hinduism . FYI the term Hindu was Coined by Persians. And the Term Hinduism is Coined by Christians.
Yoga is fundamentally a spiritual practice that just so happens to have stretching elements to it…
Do you agree or disagree?
That has been my understanding of it.
You can't separate the two, the Western practice of yoga as a form of exercise, is by default, worship of hindu gods. Yoga is the Sanskrit word for worship.
@@Italianlad69 Call it "stretching" (it is) and you're merely doing a physical activity that will help your overall health. It doesn't have to have a worship element.
@@Italianlad69 so an athlete who does body weight exercises and stretching is commiting a sin? Well no because that's not called yoga... ridiculous
Disagree
When I studied Muay Thai Kickboxing there is an opening ceremonial dance, Wai Kru Ram Muay, that shows honor and appreciation for teachers, parents, and ancestors.
I refused the ritual as it also had some connections to spiritual beliefs although it was only made up of techniques performed in the Martial Art.
Good discernment, brother.
You are not forced to do that dance, tho, are u?
@@MexicanApachemiwok777 depends. You won't fight in Thailand without it, most everywhere else it is a choice. Unless things have loosened up some over there. I haven't had an organized fight in over 20 years.
@@ChristisLord2023well, I guess just don't fight in Thailand...idk...
Where can I find the "Gods of the New Age - Documentary" that they are referring to?
It's on UA-cam
How do we know it's not a conspiracy theory like the Da Vinci Code?
So I’m getting the impression that you can stretch without doing yoga? Is that correct? Let say I’m stretching out my hammys and it looks like a yoga pose, could someone clarify please and thank you
You can do pilates which has all the physical benefits and then some of yoga without the paganism. I would say that just because some poses look similar doesn't mean it's the same.
I think he means: even if people do the yoga poses without thinking of hindu gods, saying hindu words, etc, there is a good chance they will develop a soft corner for hinduism later on.
You can just do normal stretches. Yoga doesn't own all stretches.
U can do stretches and exercise without guidance from yoga, just seek guidance from orthodox exercise and stretch u will do well
Are there churches that have people on staff who teach yoga as an exercise program for the people of the church?
Of course there are. Find one with a lesbian pastor and I’m willing to bet they have a yoga program.
@@jerryyoung6494 Ha ha! I wouldn't doubt it!
Sadly there is. They are apostate and usually very liberal in their beliefs
Is Pilates a form of yoga/should Christians avoid it as well?
Exactly! Amazing information I needed in depth
It sounds so concluded to me. People saying stuff in languages they dont understand seems bizarre and dangerous at the base level. Glad ive always been repulsed by chanting. Creepy
By the way Why the name CULTISH?
Why is it called cultish?
This was an amazing conversation. Im so glad you put this out there. In spite of the fact that you will get a lot of pushback. I always try to remember its my job to tell the truth but not my job to turn a heart so people believe it. Its sad how many people cant let it go even with the evidence stacked. But God is the one who reveals things in his time. May the scales fall.
Cultish: i have a genuine question that has nothing to do with this topic, sorry. I recently watched a video sermon of Jeff's preturist views and was wondering how that view would line up with the seven mountain mandate view. Are you (or maybe i should say Jeff) on par with that belief or would you mark and avoid it. Thanks
The host repeatedly asks the ex Hindu if Yoga can be mixed with Christianity and the ex Hindu answered several different ways that it cannot. Why is the host so confused as to this point? Where's Jeff? This was painful to watch.
Typical Colonial mind . That he sees the benefit of something and want to abrahmize it .
The thing is the Hindu guy also comes from a School of Crooks and tbh I'm glad he got out of it.
He said Atman is a Soul. But Atman means a Self.
He said Buddhism is like that too . But in Buddhism the thing that we call Self doesn't exists. He's just Confused and I'm glad he's not into it.
Look at the number of views guys and the number of likes. It's horrible. They view the content but will not like it because it hurts. GOD bless you guys. As it was in the days of Noah so it will be before the coming of The Son of Man. Many things to go.
Deuteronomy 12:30-32 CSB
[30] be careful not to be ensnared by their ways after they have been destroyed before you. Do not inquire about their gods, asking, ‘How did these nations worship their gods? I’ll also do the same.’ [31] You must not do the same to the Lord your God, because they practice every detestable act, which the Lord hates, for their gods. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods. [32] Be careful to do everything I command you; do not add anything to it or take anything away from it.
Amen Ellen
2 and you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall break down their altars.' But you have not obeyed my voice. What is this you have done? 3 So now I say, I will not drive them out before you, but they shall become thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you." (Judges 2:2-3, ESV)
The broader spiritual concept of yoga is not practiced in basic yoga classes. The poses can and are separated from hinduism by basically everyone going to classes. They are therapeutically beneficial to the body and mind. If yoga made people Hindu america would have a much larger Hindu population as yoga has been in america for over one hundred years! These videos are silly!
Gyms that have “yoga” classes are exercise classes or stretching classes. If you go to a yoga studio, yes there will be the spiritual aspects of yoga involved in the class and throughout the studio. All classes, regardless, end in “namaste” which I don’t say but just thank the instructor instead. I think western yoga has evolved into a secular exercise experience unless you go to a studio. If you feel convicted about yoga, don’t do yoga.
You cannot subtract hinduism from yoga.
@@RicherThanRubies Well, what if it’s not called yoga? My gym has a class called BodyBalance and it’s a mixture of tai chi and stretching and Pilates… but you do the same poses as you do in yoga. You know if you touch your toes, you are doing yoga. Stretch any muscle, that’s a yoga pose. One religion cannot patent or copyright the physical poses you make with your body.
@@brookekasprzyk4850 If practicing yoga under a different name makes you feel comfortable, go for it.
exactly. Romans 14 dealt with the issue of early-early Christians eating meat sacrificed to Rome's pagan deities. As we all know, the gods worshipped by the Hindu either never existed or are long since dead by the time yoga was being practiced. How do we know? because they were wiped out in the flood. Therefore, the Roman pagan gods were just reiterations of the same gods. So meat sacrificed to them was just a fools sacrifice and a poor man's supper. And even if we bring up the issue of stumbling blocks here, well....We'll gladly teach you how to step higher. And we do so prayerfully and without judgement. Just please, stop pretending that yoga as a physical exercise wouldn't have the legalists all triggered and up in arms right now if it were called by literally any other name. I dare you to put your hands on the ground and look under your car for your keys that you just dropped without touching your knees to the ground and pretend that you just did something bad.
Lots of yoga practicing Christians triggered in the comments 😂
Yoga is a beautiful practice and a great workout. You should try it. Everyone is not wrong if they are not exactly like you.
If one can't separate yoga from Hinduism, that might be a failure on your part...ijs.
Yes!!
@@J_H72Many make this fallacy,
Pagans do x
Christians celebrate simular x and y
Thus, x must be evil.
That's like saying if you can't separate Jesus from Christianity, that's just a failure on your part; you cannot redefine a word/practice because you dislike the origin and actual meaning of it. If you want to stretch and whatnot, then sure, call it what it is: Stretching, but spiritual yoga is spiritual yoga; try not to be so imperialistic and naive by believing you can take something from an ancient religion and keep the name and practices but change its meaning and deny its origin, at least be honest.
@@AliquisQuopiam The Muslims quite easily integrated Jesus into their religion without regarding him as the Messiah. This separation and changes in definitions takes place all of the time.
@@AliquisQuopiamNice fallacy.
It's like saying pagans did x
Christians celebrate simular to x and y
Thus, x must be evil.
Doing yoga as Christian is sailing close to the wind. Lead me not into temptation. Try walking and meditating.
Wow i thought you guys would be more wise about this issue yoga minus the ideology/worldview is just stretching
Next you gonna tell me that if I pray with my head to the floor I'm worshipping allah
That is how the west has marketed yoga… stretching for self-care to feel good.
@@RicherThanRubiesif that's all they're doing that's all it is. You're the one bringing worship into it
@@JadDragon Look up the word “yoga” in the dictionary. By definition it IS a spiritual practice!
@@RicherThanRubies etymological fallacy. Just because they share the same name doesn't mean they're the same thing.
Doing yoga for exercise is not the same as the yoga for worship, even if an ex Hindu who has it as their personal stumbling block and tells you such.
Remember this is a Christian channel. Most people who do yoga only do the stretches and there are no cases on record in North America of anyone getting demonized from yoga stretching because it doesn't happen.... This is a false claim. No culture owns physical movements of the body.
I mean . You guys do it and the Muslims will start calling you demonic . And it will go on n on.
Just do calisthenics.
"Be still and know that I am God" Psalm 46.10 NIV links Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims and Christians together.
This podcast is jokes and goes by the name itself. Yoga doesn’t need to be associated with Hinduism when practicing. One can simply sit in a comfortable posture and concentrate on their breathing. Breathing helps to self heal and regulate the mind and body. I went to a catholic school in India and my yoga teacher and most of my batchmates were catholic. He ensured all students did yoga from grade 1 to 10 to remove exam stress and anxiety. None of my batch mates got converted to Hinduism. 😂😂
Saying you cant do yoga without sinning is the same thing as saying all rock music is satanic
So, despite the fact an Indian man who is a former hindu who read and knows the hindu scriptures just basically told you that spiritual yoga is a form/type of worship to a pagan god, you still came to that erroneous conclusion? Did you even watch more than one minute of the video? Or did you just ignore all of what he said?
@@AliquisQuopiamif a religion was made tomorrow that believed eating food was worship to their god and that anyone who did eat food was considered a worshiper and follower of their god. Would you stop eating? Pegan religions can't just own shit because they called dibs.
@@referee4808 that is a fair analogy but a stupid and illogical one; we are not talking about something which is a necessity for all life, such as eating food....; we are talking about a specific thing created by a specific group for a specific purpose with a particular meaning behind it. Spiritual yoga is engaging in a religious practice based on their religious scripture. You cannot take something which has a specific set of rules, practices, movements and meaning and then try to redefine it and deny its origin; that is just pure imperialism. If you want to do spiritual yoga, then do it; just don't be so dishonest about the truth of the practice and its origin and the actual meaning; stretching and spiritual yoga are two different things; he literally said in the video that spiritual yoga is a type/form of worship to a hindu pagan god, you cannot deny what it is just because you're too cowardly, to be honest with yourself.
@@AliquisQuopiamthe yoga and stretching is a semantics argument, I'm sure many would disagree with the line that distinguished stretching and "yoga" the ideology.
So what differentiates the things Christians do and the things other religions do? Other religions pray as we do, fast as we do, host a religious gathering in a house of worship every week, ect. Heck other religions even have Jesus in their religions.
What differentiates them is what you believe while doing them. If you fail on your face and pray, the prayer goes to who you intend to communicate with. As is doing a fast, or going to a building with other believers.
Incorrect. Yoga is worship, not just "exercise." Let me ask, how would Christians react if some Hindu or athiest came into a church and wanted to partake of the Lord's Supper? Hey, it's cool. Why? Because they don't see it as worship, they just find it "relaxing." Some things cannot be separated from the context in which they were generated.
