Really enjoy your podcasts Andy. I really applaud your take on “unwrapping your deal” after getting out of the service. As a Vietnam Vet, I stuffed a lot of pain. Consequences happened and I did survive but it was tough. I suffer from PTSD and got help. I have 35 years of sobriety now, and I am getting help by helping others. I encourage all vets who have been there to reach out and unwrap your shit. Thanks for your awesome example of helping others.
I love what Greg is advocating for with agricultural work. I’m a 7th-8th generation (we lost count) central Texan. All of the previous generations of men on the Texan side of my family before me had been cattle ranchers, hunters, and butchers/meat processors/meat market owner-operators, even long before they landed in Galveston back in the 1700’s. My grandpa was even an Army artillery First Sergeant in Korea, and a legitimate Texan cowboy at home both before, during, and after his service. My mom was the first generation to leave their small central Texas town, and she lived her adult life wildly in the city, had kids really late, and raised us in a suburb. That didn’t work out too well for me on a life-trajectory level. I decided to join the Navy at 18-19 in 2013-14 with the only goal of becoming a SEAL. The Navy (mainly my recruiters) had other plans, so that experience also went really horribly for me, and I got unexpectedly discharged very early on. Now all I can think about doing in the future is going back to my genetic roots of living an outdoor, small town regenerative-agriculture based life, with some classic car & truck restoration mixed in. Problem is, I haven’t figured out how to make that happen yet. Greg is 100% right when he speaks about agriculture work being a direct service to the population, and the world.

That'd be a good interview. I would like to see John Allen on here, too. Also known as ''Mr.Ballen'' online,he's a former Navy SEAL,has his own business and he's also a UA-camr who has content based around scary and mysterious stories and true crime cases. Other good guests would be Dom Raso,John Devine,Nick Irving,Wes Moore,Jason Everman,Mark Divine,Nate Fick and Rudy Reyes.
There was a former CAG Operator who joined the Unit from the Navy. Where he had been a hard hat diver. Interesting listening if any of these pods would manage to get him on. He would've been in the same Squadron as Tyler Grey and likely deployment as Andy.
Yap, it lives right next to his concrete, wholesome outview, which also seems to fuel his easy laughter and going-to-the-limit, sometimes deadpan jokes, love the most, though, when guests turn on his laughter
Cleared Hot is hands down the best podcast out there. I've never been in the military but absolutely love anything about it and love hearing theses people's stories. Andy and I have almost the same exact kind of sense of humor. Listening to this podcast puts me in such a good mood. 👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸👍🇺🇸🤙
Same here. Years ago we'd buy a local steer, then have it killed and processed by a small local processor. Then split the cost of everything with 1 or 2 families. Equally divide all the meat and the costs between whoever was interested..
I was already in a critical Billet in the Navy, when I decided I was going to try for BUDs. While putting myself through the training to get there, my running was very strong, my pull-ups were very strong, push-ups sit-ups... Nothing physically frightened me to going except one thing. I just couldn't get the swimming times down. I was mature enough to just take myself out of the thought, especially after I met a girl and got married. Identifying your own weaknesses is critical to success in the teams. While you might be able to overcome certain weaknesses in time, being aware of The Importance of Being well-rounded as a special operations forces member, not only for your own safety but those around you... Just don't wait too long
Good morning to the stumpfers!! How's every one doing!! Where is everyone from I'm in Michigan in a tree stand this morning!! Perks of owning the business.
@@1BrknHrtdRomeo he mentioned Trevor by name earlier and makes a point to distinguish the anonymous SDV guy. So I don't think it'd Trevor. Plus he says Trevor was a pilot.
the new guy mindset is being an eternal intern until you reach mastery, and then...teach. and definitely film andy doing some calfjitsu on the ranch once he gets there.
" and then I have morning conversations with the mirror and say whats up you piece of shit , you gonna fuck up again today"? -Andy Stumpf- Hahaha hilarious!!! Good shit!!👍
Andy, you should have him put one of his cattle dogs to your heels. Guessing your meat will be more "stress free" on 4 wheeler. Welcome to cattle country. PS, love the show.
1:28:00 - "finding the balance" and pausing to enjoy the moment? do you, guy, realise there are a lot of people that are "paused" for life on their couch in front of the Netflix?! Andy does jits 6 times a week on top of extra weight gym time i gather. I've tried jits 3 times a week and found it somewhat debilitating at times. And I'm actually not that "sedentary" of a person in my daily life. My point is not everybody has the same level of vitality as these two gents. That's what sets them apart from the rest of the crowd.
16:39 Its good to finally hear someone talk about those "people" that come from those horrible lowly places... Mansions are such dirty places. Respect to the trailerpark boys... much more creative in my experience.
It's not a myth. If the US had the percentage of Cattle per capital that it did in the early 1900th century grazing all over the great plains the regrowth of the blades of grass would put the US in huge negative carbon emissions. And a 14lbs brisket would cost you $14...
Pretty sure I know who he is talking about in the sdv story. Dude just did an interview recently and tells a similar story. His personality made me want to watch him convulse in frozen agony. Hahaha
Hes just like a twitter, instagram, snapchat addicted women…..driving down the road, not t paying any attention, looking at his/her phone….. Navy seal/small school girl….both describe him equally well…..
Was really interested in the ranching portion but after hearing "super" for the one thousandth time I had to stop. Awesome guest but just like my entire family every sentence begins and ends with a like, super, or the fading "having said that". Just me getting old, finish it up after a break.
How many times does this guy say, “like”? He ruined the whole thing because thats the only word i heard, not his actual story…. Tell him to never say the word like again, it will help. I think he said it atleast 2000 times….fluck

It would be interesting in seeing Tyler Grey on here.

This was a great interview. Talking about real life, interspersed with the past. Really entertaining.
Great episode, man. I hope there's a regular update on how the ranch is going.
Way to go, Greg! We're honored to have you on our Board of Directors!

Where's the guy posting timestamps he's late already
This is ridiculous
Loved this one. I've been thinking more and more about purchasing beef from ranchers vs. stores. ✌

Latrell said he almost died more times doing SDV trainings. Great interview as always!
Excellent excellent guest. Thank you!
Who was it that he was talking about at SDV-1? Did his first name start with T?
I'm thinking Trevor Thompson but can't confirm.
I wanna say Micah Fink did SDV too? Another great interview 👍
